Everwind – Best Tier 1 & 2 Skills To Unlock

Everwind featured image

Everwind is a sandbox survival RPG game where you can craft plenty of items and build your own base. You also have to loot many islands, some of which can be found on the water, while others can be found in the sky. For more information regarding the game, head over to its Steam page.

As this game has core RPG elements, it will not tell you what to do every time. You will also have a skill tree featuring tons of skills, so it can get a bit overwhelming when deciding which abilities to unlock first. So, in this guide, I will tell you which tier 1 and 2 skills you need to unlock in Everwind.

Best Tier 1 Skills To Unlock In Everwind

There are six tiers in the Warrior and Arcanist classes and only one in the Engineer class. You cannot unlock any skill you want, as you will need to have at least three points in tier one skills to be able to unlock the next tier. There are five skills in each tier, so that means if you spend enough points or unlock some of them, you can move on to the next tier.

That said, you do not have to unlock all five skills. You can simply upgrade the one you like the most. Since you can spend three points on one skill (this isn’t the case with every single skill in this game), you will be able to unlock the next tier just by doing that.

Area Scan

The first skill that I highly recommend you unlock is Area Scan. This is because the game does not automatically tell you where to go after you have completed the tutorial section. It does not guide you much on what to do after getting the main parts of the ship.

The Area Scan skill allows you to figure out where to go. Of course, you can upgrade it to increase the radius, but unlocking it early on is actually very helpful as it highlights points of interest around you. That makes it one of the best tier 1 skills in Everwind, not just in the early game but throughout the whole game.

You should also know that you can use the spyglass to see which island has a point of interest. Then you can simply use the compass on that island to figure out where it is.

Parry Master

After unlocking Area Scan, you need to focus on the offensive part of your build. As this is a survival game, you need some skills that will allow you to have an upper hand against monsters. So, unlocking Parry Master is going to help you with that.

Parrying helps a lot in this game, mainly because of the wide timing window. You do not have to be very accurate with the timing, and you will still parry the enemy. It does not stun the enemy completely, but it does give you an opening to attack. You can parry with your weapon, but I recommend doing it with a shield.

Also note that you can unlock Agile Parrying later on, which causes your skill to consume less stamina.

Stealth

If you are someone who does not want to fight enemies all the time and wants to take it a little slow sometimes, I highly recommend unlocking Stealth early on. To activate this skill, you will have to crouch down. Once you do, enemies will not be able to notice you easily.

This can come in handy in the early game when you do not have access to good gear. Fighting strong enemies can lead to defeat. If you do not feel like fighting, simply crouch and move ahead. This does not mean you can walk right in front of enemies, as they will still be able to see you even if they cannot hear you.

Recycling

If you want to use a bow instead of a sword in this game, then you must one hundred percent unlock the Recycling ability. This ability is a game-changer for bow users as it gives you a 20 percent chance of not consuming an arrow when shooting.

While a 20 percent chance may not seem like much, it is still quite useful. You can upgrade the skill to level three and increase the chance of not consuming an arrow to 40 percent, which is pretty solid.

Fire Mastery

If you want to deal serious damage to enemies, then you should consider making hybrid builds. Arcanist and Warrior skills go very well together, and I recommend unlocking both. The first step in making that build is unlocking the Fire Mastery skill.

This skill allows you to set enemies on fire and deal fire damage. Having Fire Mastery with a weapon of your choice can be quite helpful. You can also upgrade this skill to increase fire damage by up to 45 percent. I recommend unlocking this skill as it can make a big difference, especially in the early game.

Unstable Magic

If you want to use a complete mage build and do not want anything to do with the Warrior class, then I recommend going with the Unstable Magic skill. This skill allows critical hits from attacks that come out of your wand. While the crit chance may not increase by much, even a small increase can be very impactful in such games.

By upgrading this skill to level three, you will be able to get a 5 percent higher chance of dealing critical damage with your wand attacks.

Athlete

Another skill that you need to get early on is Athlete. You are going to sprint a lot in this game, and I mean a lot. You have to explore every single island, and that requires stamina. Running away from fights also consumes stamina, so if you run out, you can be in trouble.

By unlocking Athlete, you will be able to preserve stamina and possibly survive close encounters. Upgrading it to level three reduces stamina consumption while sprinting by 100 percent. This skill is worth investing in at any point in the game, but it is better if you do it early.

Life Detection

The last skill in this guide on the best tier 1 skills to unlock early in Everwind is Life Detection. This skill is similar to Area Scan but serves a completely different purpose. Area Scan highlights points of interest, while Life Detection highlights nearby living creatures.

If you want to see how many creatures are nearby or if you need food quickly, then using this skill will be your best option. That is pretty much it for which tier 1 skills you need to unlock first in Everwind.

Best Tier 2 Skills To Unlock In Everwind

After you have spent five skill points in tier 1 of both Warrior and Arcanist, you will be able to unlock the next tier of skills. So, the following are some of the tier 2 skills that I recommend you unlock first in Everwind:

Agile Parrying

As I mentioned earlier in the Parry Master section, you can unlock Agile Parrying as well. However, to unlock this, you will need to unlock tier 2 first. That can be done by spending five skill points in tier 1 skills. Once you have the second tier unlocked, I recommend unlocking Agile Parrying first if you are more into close combat.

This will allow you to consume less stamina while parrying, which is very helpful. By upgrading it to the max level, you will be able to decrease stamina consumption while parrying by up to 30 percent.

Sprinting Aim

Those who prefer using a bow are going to love this skill. You can actually aim and shoot while sprinting in Everwind, and that is a game-changer. You can outrun many enemies in this game, and while running away from them, shooting with your bow is pretty cool.

That can be done by unlocking the Sprinting Aim skill in tier 2 of the Warrior skill tree.

Magic Protection

Magic protection is one of the best Tier 2 skills to unlock in Everwind.

A little later in the game, you will notice that enemies also have access to magic. They will shoot magic projectiles at you. Normally, you will not be able to block those projectiles with a shield, as you need a specific skill for that.

That skill is Magic Protection. With the help of this skill, you will be able to block those annoying magic projectiles and deal with casters much more easily.

Ice Mastery

Fire Mastery is pretty cool, but not everyone prefers fire when ice exists. You can have both, and that can be very fun to use. However, this does not mean that your fire-based weapon will start dealing ice damage. So, while you can make a hybrid build, you will need different weapon types as well.

Using both can be very effective, but if you do not want to invest in this, you can unlock other skills and later consider unlocking Lightning Mastery, which becomes available in tier 3.

Greater Healing

Another great tier 2 skill that I recommend getting is Greater Healing. This will increase the effectiveness of your healing spells, and if you are using a mage or a hybrid build, this is a must-have skill.

You can upgrade this ability to level three and increase the effect of healing by up to 60 percent, which is quite generous.

That is pretty much it for my guide on the best skills in both the tier 1 and tier 2 categories in Everwind. As I progress further, I will make a guide on the rest of the tiers as well. Also, if you are a complete beginner to this game, I highly recommend checking out the beginner’s tips and tricks guide for the best start.
