Everwind is a sandbox RPG survival game where you can build your base and explore many islands. Your base is pretty unique as it is literally a boat, so you will have to make upgrades as you progress. For more information about the game, head over to its Steam page.
As the base in the game is a ship or an airship, you actually need to build it first. The game does tell you where you can find the required parts you need to fly your ship, but it does not do a very good job of explaining what to do next. So, here, I will tell you how to build your first ship and upgrade it in Everwind.

How To Build Your First Ship In Everwind
As you start the game, you will have to loot the tutorial tower first and collect some necessary items. Then, you will need to collect some parts that are required for your airship to fly.
Loot The Tutorial Tower Thoroughly

As the game starts, you find yourself in a tower. There is plenty of loot inside, and you need to get almost all of it. Make sure you collect a lot of wood and break everything you can see. This way, you will learn plenty of blueprints that will surely come in handy later on.
As you are looting the tower, make sure you break the damaged barrels, as that will provide you with copper nails, and you will need them shortly after. Also, make sure you break the barrels with an axe for a faster process.

Once you have looted everything, head out and collect a lot of grass. After that, make a crafting station and craft Rope and Planks.
Get The Airship Parts

Then, scan the destroyed ship on the island, and you will have to destroy three airship parts to learn their blueprints. Once you have scanned and destroyed them, craft each one of them and do not place them on this ship again, as this one is completely destroyed.
If you have more materials, then you can craft more engines or balloons. This is because by crafting more of them, your ship will fly better. Other than that, make sure to get all of the wooden pipes from the destroyed ship. This may take some time, but believe me, you need those.
Claim Your First Ship

Now, to build or claim your first ship in Everwind, you need to head to the location marked on the map. You do not have to place these newly crafted things on the same ship. Instead, there is an abandoned ship waiting for you in the middle of the sea.
You can get a boat outside of the tower, so use that to head there and claim it by placing the cockpit. After that, place the rest of the parts, and your ship will be ready to fly. You should also put some wood in the generator, as fuel is necessary. That is pretty much how you can build your first ship in Everwind.
How To Upgrade Your Ship In Everwind

Your current ship will not be very big, and just adding more to it will slow it down. So, you need more engines, balloons, and generators if you want to make it faster, bigger, and better.
However, you will not be able to add those right away because you need to upgrade your ship first. You can upgrade the core by adding specific items. Those items are not that hard to find, so you will need to do some exploration on the islands first. You can find them on the islands in the sea, so there is no need to head to the floating islands.
Once you have upgraded the speed, altitude, and size, you will be able to add more parts. Those parts will then allow you to go higher in altitude and move faster. You will need more balloons to go higher and more engines to go faster.
That is pretty much everything you need to know about how to upgrade your ship in Everwind. Also, if you have just started the game, you should also give my beginner’s tips and tricks guide a read. While you are at it, make sure to check out my guide on which tier 1 & tier 2 skills are the best.
