Don’t Go To A Floating Island Early On

As this game features vertical progression, the higher the island is, the better the resources you will get. However, early in the game, your ship has a limit on how high it can go up in the air, so you may not be able to reach the floating islands.
So, instead, try to focus on the islands that are on the water surface. They will not have loot as good as the floating islands, but we all start somewhere. So, gather the loot, make your ship better, and then head to the floating islands.
Unlock Area Scan As Your First Skill

As you start the game, you will level up eventually. So, as you level up, you will get some points that let you unlock abilities. Now, you have three skill trees for now, as more may be added when the game is no longer in Early Access or with future updates.
In the skill tree, choose the Engineer one and select the first ability, Area Scan, and unlock it. After unlocking it, you can use the left click to change your compass mode. You will see that it now shows a blue light. After changing the mode, you can hold the right click to scan the area.
This is extremely helpful as it will highlight any point of interest near the area. Many may not think much of tips like this, but in Everwind, scanning the area and finding what to do next is extremely helpful. Whenever you are exploring a new island, I highly recommend using this skill.
Spyglass Helps A Lot In Exploration

If you do not know how to use the spyglass, then simply hold R and select it from the menu. Now, you can point it toward an island, and it will tell you whether you have explored it or not. This helps you a lot with exploration and saves quite a bit of your time.
It also has three levels of zoom, so you can use it to see something from a distance. Also, when you see the right side of the spyglass lit up and turn yellow, it means that the island has a point of interest. So, you should explore that island first, and with the help of the Area Scan ability, you will be able to locate the point of interest in no time.
The Spawn Tower Has A Lot Of Loot

The tower you spawn in and start your game actually has a lot of loot. So, you should loot it thoroughly before moving ahead. There is a hidden room that has a lot of loot. You can enter it either by breaking the iron bars or removing the dirt blocks from the top. There is also an entrance from outside the tower.
So, you can either head out to its right side to break the wooden barricade or you can break the iron bars. Do note that if you break the iron bars, you will have to break the wooden barricade to exit. So, it is better that you enter from outside the tower.
Whatever looks like it can break, use your tools on it. There are a lot of hidden rooms, especially in the points of interest areas, so you need to be patient and loot everything.
Pick Up Every Material You Come Across

This may seem a little obvious, but in games like Everwind, you need to pick up every single material you come across. Even if you do not have any use for it for now, you will definitely need it later. The material is there for a reason, so just pick it up and store it when you have access to an inventory.
Even if it may seem like something that will not do much, pick it up. Do not worry about stacking up your inventory; just pick everything up, and you will see the benefit in the long run.
Torch Can Be Used As An Alternative Weapon

If your main weapon breaks in combat, then you do not have to worry much, as a torch can be used as an alternative. So, always carry a torch with you. This may not seem like a reliable method, but it actually is. The torch may not do a lot of damage like your main weapon may do, but it does inflict burn on the enemy.
As it inflicts burn on the enemy, you will see that the damage it does over time is not that bad. You can also sprint in the game, so inflicting the enemy with the burn status and running back is also a good strategy.
Explore The Outer Areas Of The Islands

While it is pretty obvious that you need to explore an island thoroughly, you may not think of exploring the outer areas. The island is built on a foundation, and there you can find plenty of loot. You can find many different ores and resources in the outer areas, so never leave them.
Other than the loot, you may also find an entrance to a secret area, which might not be accessible from the main side. There may be a way to go from the main area, but the outer side can give you easier access.
Don’t Overbuild

You need to understand that your base and your main traversal object are your ship. This will take you from point A to B or wherever you want to go. Now, as that is also your main base, you obviously have to build some things to continue progressing. That includes crafting stations and other things.
So, do remember that your ship has a weight limit. You cannot build too much or use materials that have too much weight, as that can affect your ship’s performance. So, the best way to tackle this early in the game is to use wood as the base. That is because wood in the game is actually the lightest material.
You can upgrade your ship with the required materials, which helps with increasing the speed, size, and altitude it can go up to. So, with time, you will be able to build more and make it an ultimate base that flies you around. That said, take it easy in the early game and use wood for most of the stuff.
Turn Off Your Engine Before Leaving The Ship

Without fuel, you cannot fly, so you need to preserve it. When you put the resources in the engine, it gives you a time limit of how long the ship can fly. Now, if you do not want to keep putting resources into the engine, you need to be a little careful about preserving fuel.
That can be done when you are simply floating in the air. While floating, you do not need power, so turn off the engine and let the ship float. Also, when you have reached an island, make sure to turn off the engine before leaving. I have many times left my ship’s engine turned on, so do not repeat this mistake.
Carry Repair Kits With You, Especially When Exploring Floating Islands

You should always have a few repair kits with you when exploring, as you can break your weapons and other tools. Repair kits can be crafted from your inventory, so it will not be confusing at all. You may not break a lot of your tools or weapons in the early game areas, but as you reach the floating islands, things will get a little different.
There will be stronger enemies and much more loot for you to take. So, to defeat the enemies as well as loot everything, you are likely to break your tools and weapons. You can prevent that by taking a few repair kits with you, as teleporting back to the ship and then going back will take too much of your time.
Also, keep in mind that you can get more out of a repair kit when used on an anvil. So, the higher tier your anvil is, the better you will be able to repair your tools or weapons.
Some More Everwind Tips And Tricks You Need To Keep In Mind

The following are some tips and tricks that will help you progress in Everwind:
- Loot everything you can see.
- When reaching a new island that is not floating, you can jump out of the ship and land in the water to reach the island quickly.
- Once you have looted everything on the island and cannot locate your ship, you can simply use the compass to teleport back to your ship.
- Unlock the Parry Master after unlocking the Area Scan ability, as combat in this game is highly important.
- Using magic weapons instead of normal ones will be much better, especially in the early game.
- The parry window in this game is not harsh, so you can get away with not timing it perfectly.
- Areas with flags and tombstones can be dug, and you can find plenty of loot there.
- Upgrade your ship if you want to explore the floating islands, but make sure to have good gear before heading there.
- Attach more balloons to your ship to fly higher.
- Mortivar skulls are necessary for a ship upgrade, and they can be dropped by normal skeleton enemies.
- Breaking chests will not waste the resources inside them.
- You get all of the materials back for breaking anything you build in this game.
