Scavenging for resources is a key part of escaping the dark, monster-infested Forest. And Coal and Rock are pretty easy to find; there’s one more resource that you’ll have a hard time pinning down. The resource in question is Gold, which you’ll need if you want to access important upgrades that will help you complete your escape.

How to Get Gold in Forest Escape: Last Train
In Forest Train, you’ll need Coal to run your Train, and Rock to fight off the monsters. But Gold serves a more important purpose. While traveling through the Forest, you’ll come across various Shops. These Shops will sell you things like First Aid Kits, Respawn Tokens, Construction Hammer, and even Revolvers and Ammo for your Revolver. To buy these items, you’ll need Gold.
While they are not as important in the early game, before facing off against the Warden, you’ll want to pick up at least a few extra Respawn Tokens for your team. Since these cost around 100 Gold a pop, it becomes necessary to start stocking up on Gold from the beginning.
There are a couple of different ways to get Gold in Forest Train: Last Escape.
Mine Them from Gold Ores
The easiest way to get Gold in Forest Escape is to farm it using your Pickaxe. The process is the same as how you would farm Coal or Rock. However, Gold Ores are rare and are typically guarded by enemies. Each Gold Ore nets around 20 Gold if you mine it fully, with each hit with a Pickaxe giving you +2 Gold. Just remember to be on your guard and quickly go on the attack if a group of monsters charges you.
Selling Trophies and Items
You can come across a ton of rewards while exploring the Forest. While sometimes these rewards can be as simple as a stack of Coal or Rock, other times, you’ll find Ropes, Gold, Revolver Ammo, or Trophies. Trophies can also drop from chests you get for completing a mission.
To sell Trophies, make your way to a Shop. Stand near it and open your inventory. Then right-click on the Trophy and choose the Sell option. Trophies can reward anywhere from 10 to 20 Gold a piece.
The Trophies are an excellent way to rack up a ton of Gold. However, make sure you sell them at the earliest opportunity. If you die, you’ll drop all the Trophies in your possession and must pick them up again once you respawn.
In addition to Trophies, you can also sell your items that you don’t plan on using. They won’t give you a lot of Gold, but if you need only a couple to buy an important item, then selling off your unused item can be a good idea.
Find Hidden Chests
While exploring the different locations in the Forest, you’ll sometimes hear a strange chime. This indicates a hidden chest nearby. Follow the sound to its source, and you’ll find a black puddle on the ground. Strike it with your Pickaxe a couple of times to reveal a hidden chest that contains at least 5 Gold.
How to Spend Gold
As I said earlier, you can spend Gold to purchase items from Shops scattered throughout the forest. Here’s a quick list of all the items you can buy right now:

The two most important items in the shop are the Aid Kit and Respawn Token. Unlike the Canned Food that heals a minimal amount, the Aid Kit will heal you up to full. The Respawn Token adds one additional revive to your entire party, making it essential if you’re running low on revives.
While the Revolver seems like a massive upgrade, your basic throwing Rocks are good enough to get you through most of the enemies in the game. Only go for it if you’ve got extra Gold to spare or before heading off to fight the Warden.
