Gothic 1 Remake features a nameless hero who has just been thrown into the Valley of the Mines inside the barrier. With no way to get out, you must find a way to earn respect and make some friends who will help you break through this barrier.

Learning To Climb
Climbing is a skill that you’ll need to access some areas for different quests, such as searching for the hidden temple of the Fire Mages or looking for the Frost Shadow Beast. However, the game doesn’t teach you where and how to learn it.
At different places on the map, you’ll find certain webbed walls. If you approach these walls, you’ll get an option to climb them, but it’s only active if you have learned the skill for it.
To learn this skill, you’ll have to find an NPC called Theron in the Swamp Camp. You can get to Theron by teleporting to the Swamp Camp’s Temple and going through the hole in the wall to the right.
If you keep going, you’ll end up on a beach. You’ll find Theron here. Talking to him will initiate the Aiming High quest.
Aiming High Quest
The Aiming High quest requires you to bring 6 Northern Dark smoke rolls to Theron. If you do so, he’ll be willing to teach you to climb.
You can get the smoke rolls from Fortuno near Cor Kalom’s lab. He gives you three units of Northern Dark for free every day, as part of the daily rations. If you need more, you can buy it from him for some ore nuggets.
When you return to Theron to give him 6 units of Northern Dark, he’ll be able to teach you how to climb. However, you’ll need at least 5 LP to learn the skill.
After that, Theron will climb on the nearby wall and ask you to follow him. You’d be able to climb it with ease. Talk to Theron, and he’ll give you one Northern Dark smoke roll back.
The Aiming High quest will be completed, and you’ll be able to climb any climbable walls that you encounter in the game from this point onward.
