Halcyon Days At Taoyuan – Jiuweihu Boss Battle Guide

Halcyon Days at Taoyuan features several mythical beasts that you’d have to take down to repair the shrines in the village. All of these mythical beasts possess unique abilities, and you only have to defeat them once. The Jiuweihu is a nine-tailed fox that you’ll have to fight at the end of the Water Cave to obtain the Spirit Fox Pearl. Preparations To Defeat Jiuweihu

Jiuweihu has a ton of HP and is the second-to-last boss in the cave. You should get an Iron Sword or better to defeat this boss.

Note that you don’t need an upgraded pickaxe to enter and reach the deepest room of the Water Cave. You can do so easily with a regular pickaxe. You can unlock the Water Cave after defeating Zheng in the Metal Cave.

You’ll also need some armor to defend yourself. If you don’t have any armor yet, you can go to Lui Chulan’s building and use the materials obtained from defeating other mythical beasts to craft yourself some armor.

You can also use ores to craft armor at Lui Chulan’s place. Additionally, you’ll need to purchase tonics from Li Yong’s clinic. Li Yong only trades with herbs, and you can obtain these herbs from the forest.

How To Defeat Jiuweihu

Jiuweihu has one primary attack, where it summons several spirit balls. These spirit balls then chase you all over the arena, before striking the ground and dissipating. Furthermore, Jiuweihu doesn’t move like other mythical beasts.

Instead, this fox mythical beast will teleport all over the arena. Additionally, Jiuweihu also summons two fox enemies to attack you.

The main threat in the fight is the summoned fox enemies. The fox enemies, paired with the spirit balls chasing you around, can make the fight more difficult.

As the fight begins, you’ll have to take out the smaller fox enemies immediately as they’re summoned. Wait for Juiweihu to teleport, and as soon as it starts to unleash the spirit ball attack, you’d have plenty of time to get a ton of attacks in.

Once the spirit balls are near you, start running around to not get hit by them. Use dashes if necessary. Ideally, you should only get damaged by the smaller fox enemies. Use tonic if your health gets too low.

If you keep attacking the fox mythical beast while it casts the spirit ball attack, you’ll be able to bring down its HP easily.

Rewards For Defeating Jiuweihu

Jiuweihu will engage in a conversation with you after being defeated. It remembers some of the villagers and will talk to you about them. In the end, it will give you the Spirit Fox Pearl, alongside some other items.

The boss also drops the Charm Tail accessory, which boosts all favor gained from the villagers. You’ll also receive the Spirit Fox Tail Fur, which can be turned into armor, and an indigo disc.

Return to Zhang Wenchang at the ancestral hall with the Spirit Fox Pearl, and he’ll accept it and get ready to repair the fifth shrine. Once the fifth shrine has been repaired, you’ll obtain the Virtues Reward Robe the next day in the mail.

The Virtues Reward Robe is one of the best armors in the game, and will make the final battle against Huang a lot easier.
