Halcyon Days At Taoyuan – Zheng Boss Battle Guide

Halcyon Days At Taoyuan Zheng

Halcyon Days at Taoyuan features a variety of mythical beasts, with each having unique traits. These bosses are much more difficult than the regular beasts that you encounter in the cave. Zheng is a lot more aggressive than the bosses that you’ve encountered so far, and you’ll have to be extra careful while fighting against it. For more information on the game, please visit its official Steam page here.

Defeating Zheng is required to obtain the Adamantine Sand, which is a required item to repair the Fourth Shrine in the game.

Preparations For Fighting Against Zheng

You’ll need at least a copper sword to fight against Zheng. Additionally, Zheng hits hard, so you’ll need better armor as well. You can craft an armor using Dankang’s Mane or Lushu’s Underfur at Lui Chulan, and that will be enough to get the job done.

Zheng is found in the Metal Cave. The Metal Cave becomes unlocked once you’ve defeated Lushu in the Wood Cave. You don’t need an upgraded pickaxe to navigate through this area, but you’ll need it to break the iron deposits.

Don’t forget to get Tonics from Li Yong’s clinic in the village. These Tonics are essential to make sure you can survive the fight, even if you get damaged by Zheng’s attacks.

You can make the battle even easier by obtaining an Iron Sword. But you’ll need to craft a bronze pickaxe for that first.

The Metal Cave is unlocked after you’ve defeated Lushu in the Wood Cave. You’ll have to defeat Zheng to obtain the Adamantine Sand, which is required to repair the shrine.

How To Fight Zheng

Zheng has a big horn on its head, and it can hurt you if you approach it from near its head. Other than that, you’ll also have to keep your distance because of the contact damage.

To make things more challenging, Zheng has a roar attack, which places a significant movement speed debuff on you. You’ll be moving slowly if you get touched by the roar, and you will have a hard time avoiding the spikes from the ground.

If you get affected by the roar debuff, or if the spike is about to erupt beneath you, you can use the dash button to avoid all damage.

Zheng also summons random spikes from the ground. If these spikes erupt from beneath you, or if you touch these spikes, you’ll take damage. So, you’ll have to watch where you’re going, especially after landing your attacks.

What you have to do here is to land an attack and immediately run away as the boss stomps the ground. Watch for the spots on the land to avoid potential spikes.

Once the spikes are destroyed, go back and repeat the process until you’ve completely defeated the boss.

If you want, you can also cheese the boss by hiding behind the cactus in the top-right corner of the arena. This will cause the boss’s attacks to miss. And, you can use your sword to bring its HP down to 0.

Rewards For Defeating Zheng

Defeating Zheng gives you the Adamantine Sand, an indigo disc coin, the Zheng Golden Horn, and the Orebreaker Horn accessory.

The Zheng Golden Horn can be used to craft clothing. The Orebreaker Horn gives you a 25% bonus chance for extra ore yield, which is essential if you want to gather ores.

The Adamantine Sand is required to repair the fourth shrine. Once you’ve obtained it, you’ll have to head to the Ancestral Hall to give it to Zhang Wenchang, who will then proceed with the shrine repair.
