Atticus Overview

Atticus in Highguard is an Assault-class Warden who comes with massive damage output with both tactical and ultimate abilities. This character is capable of controlling areas with electrical abilities and delivering powerful ultimate damage.

He is the best Warden to choose due to his flexible and versatile playstyle. His abilities allow him to dominate enemies in combat when using the best weapons. Below are all his abilities that you can use while fighting against enemies to complete objectives.

  • Supercharged Axe (Passive Ability): Atticus’s axe stores electrical charge and emits an electrical explosion when triggered to deal damage to nearby enemies and resource nodes.
  • Shockspear (Tactical Ability): Atticus throws a charged lightning spear that shocks and damages enemies it hits.
  • Powerstorm/Supercell (Ultimate Ability): Atticus moves into the air and throws multiple lightning spears over an area to deal heavy damage to both players and structures.

Supercharged Axe (Passive Ability)

Supercharged Axe charges up through damage dealt by Shockspear. Once charged, your next axe strike on a Resource Node triggers a large explosion. This can damage and destroy nearby Resource Nodes and item containers. The crystals destroyed allow you to gain Vesper. Your Shockspear’s sustained shock damage fills the Supercharged Axe meter.

Make sure to place Shockspears around choke points or near resources to deal damage over time. Use this right after collecting some Vesper to get a big explosion from the next swing. Once charged, hit resource nodes that are close together. This is especially powerful early in the match when you need Vesper to buy weapons and tools.

The electrical explosion also damages nearby enemies when triggered, so you can use this in close fights or objective zones. Charged explosions can also help break structures when used at entry points. You don’t need to waste your charge on a single small node.

Shockspear (Tactical Ability)

The Shockspear ability in Highguard allows you to throw a charged lightning spear that sticks where it lands. This can deal continuous shock damage to enemies in its range. The spear also create charge toward your Supercharged Axe passive while active.

Make sure to place spears in narrow paths, doorways, or around objective areas to deal massive damage to enemies. Shockspear deals ticking shock damage to nearby enemies.

The goal here for you is to force the enemy retreat through corridors or pressure bombs using the Shockspear. Every damage from Shockspear contributes toward charging your Supercharged Axe. Make sure to use spears where enemies are likely to stand in a group. You can have up to three Shockspears active at once, so try to stagger them.

Place Shockspears around key objective areas like bomb points or Shieldbreaker while defending the base. This causes enemies to take damage or makes them waste time destroying them. I highly recommend using it where teammates are pressuring, so enemies cannot simply wait it out. Thrown spears also add pressure in combat, especially in tight indoor or corridors.

Powerstorm (Ultimate)

Atticus rises into the air and gains a set number of lightning spear throws. This ability allows you to dominate a cluster of enemies in combat. Each lightning spear deals heavy damage to enemies and structures. However, Atticus becomes fully vulnerable while in the air.

Enemies can attack him with their abilities or deal damage with weapons. Multiple lightning spears can quickly wipe out teams when enemies are grouped. Enemy roaming around the objectives, like bomb sites or choke points, become vulnerable to these lightning spears.

Make sure to activate it just after your team engages with enemies to soften them. I recommend using it from slightly behind cover and aiming into enemy positions. Prioritise using this ability on enemies at medium range or anyone trying to respawn.

Multiple spears striking the walls can break them, allowing you to open a new path for your team. Target walls, barricades, and close choke points to slow the enemy push. Powerstorm works best when enemies already deal damage with Shockspear.

Best Weapons For Atticus

Choosing the best weapon for Atticus is crucial in every aspect, as your combat result depends on it. You can also use two combat weapons in a match, so choose the ones that suit his playstyle. Vanguard is the best weapon for Atticus in Highguard due to its excellent damage-dealing capability in mid-range.

Use Vanguard to punish enemies after using Powerstorm. Controlled bursts help maintain the accuracy and pressure of this assault rifle.

Dynasty is another strong weapon for Atticus because it offers a balance between firepower, range, and handling. Use this assault rifle to eliminate weakened enemies in combat. Make sure to aim from cover or high ground for better precision to take more health. Corsair can also work well for Atticus due to its close-range ability. Corsair melts enemies quickly when the fights are in tight corridors.

Best Temp Comp

Atticus works best with Wardens like Una and Condor. While Una is a Defensive Warden in Highguard, Conor is Recon. Una is all about utility and farming support. Condor, on the other hand, has vision and can track enemy movement in a match.

Una can help you with territory control and more efficient Vesper farming. Condor’s recon abilities give your team better awareness, allowing you to use the abilities at the perfect time. Avoid picking three similar Assault characters because you can lose utility and intel.

How To Play Atticus

Atticus is an Assault-class Warden, and his kit allows him to deal massive damage and pressure objectives. Throw Shockspears around narrow paths and entrances to force enemies to take damage. Staying near the spear gives damage to enemies. Make use of the passive where enemies are most likely to pass, allowing you to dominate them.

Place three Shockspears in advance of a push or defense to slow down the enemies. Fight near your spear placements to deal continuous shock damage and charge your passive ability. You need to combine Powerstorm with frontline pushes by teammates.

Powerstorm is strong in team fights, so you don’t need to use it alone. Clearing multiple nodes at once makes Atticus effective in the early and mid-game. Place Shockspears around popular loot spots to pressure enemies.
