The Dark Below Quests in Highguard

Quests in Highguard are the objective-based challenges that are designed to give you goals to complete as you play matches. Finishing the quests allows you to gain useful rewards like Brightforge” Rare Banner, Anvilbiter” Rare Charm, and more.

The missions are not part of a single-player story campaign, but they work similarly to Seasonal or Episode objectives. Highguard’s main quest line is called The Dark Below. It consists of several distinct quests, each with a specific challenge.

1. Fortify the Perimeter

The objective to complete Fortify the Perimeter is reinforce 10 walls in a single match. Matches start with a Defense Phase in Highguard. The 60 seconds are given to both teams, in which they are locked in their base and can fortify walls before the fight starts. During this phase, you use wall reinforcement actions to strengthen breakable walls.

Use this time to focus on reinforcing walls first before doing anything else. If you reinforce 10 quickly here, you’ll already complete the quest early. Make sure to split wall reinforcement tasks with the teammates. Don’t waste time on walls that are hard to reach in this limited time. Not every surface or barrier might count as a reinforceable wall.

Only the destructible wooden or weaker stone walls are reinforced. If you don’t reinforce the wall in the defense phase, you can still do it by returning to your base during the match. Some base layouts have shorter walls, so pick the best one to complete this quest.

2. Leave Nothing Standing

The objective of this quest is to destroy 25 walls in a single match during Raid Mode. Walls are destructible barriers around bases and objectives, and you can use the weapons to destroy them. Some are breakable with regular weapons like Kraken and tools like Blast Hammer. The Blast Hammer and Rocket launcher are used to deal massive damage to walls and are great for quickly tearing down walls.

Your best is to assign at least one teammate to focus on wall destruction. Focus on weak or damaged weapons first, as they take less damage to get demolished. Your teammates can create space or distract defenders while you focus on breaking walls.

Even after core objectives are completed, there are often leftover walls. Make sure to pick Wardens with abilities that help bust walls. Matches that go into later stages allow you to gain opportunities to find and destroy walls.

3. Bring Down the Hammer

Destroy 100 walls using the Purple Blast Hammer to complete this quest during the match. Finishing this objective can be challenging, as destroying 100 walls with the Blast Hammer is not an easy task.

I recommend picking the Purple Blast Hammer as your chosen raid tool when preparing for the Raid Phase. This tool can deal massive wall damage and quickly break down walls.

There are multiple destructible walls in target bases and defensive structures during the raid phase. Don’t waste your hits on walls that are already partially destroyed. Look for walls anywhere on the map during the raid. Keep in mind that even side walls count toward your total. Bring Down the Hammer can take several matches to complete, so destroy the wall whenever you can.

4. Thinning the Herd

Get 25 eliminations in a single match of Highguard to complete the Thinning the Herd quest. Use the best weapon and Warden to secure the required kills. Don’t chase every fight to get the kill, so pick battles you are likely to win. Pick Wardens with strong dueling potential to win the fights quickly without getting killed.

Work with your team to secure eliminations together and trap the group of enemies in a chokepoint to finish them off. Positioning yourself increases your chance to participate in more fights. Make sure to fight around objectives and rotate effectively to stay in combat.

5. Release the Kraken

Getting 5 kills in one match using the Kraken shotgun allows you to complete Release the Kraken. Use this firearm as your primary weapon to kill enemies. Its strength lies in dealing massive damage up close.

Equip it at the start of the match and keep it as your main combat weapon. Shotguns like Kraken excel in tight corridors and chokepoints, so tackle the enemies when they are nearby.

Stick to areas where enemies are grouped or where you can flank opponents. Getting five kills in one match is easier if fights happen frequently, so stay near the choke points or objectives. Look for respawns and power positions where respawn again to kill him in the first place.

6. Wear the Crown

Winning 20 matches in Highguard allows you to complete this objective. You don’t need to win all 20 in one match, just across several matches. Winning matches heavily depends on team coordination and the best strategies. Stick with your team during objectives and avoid solo pushes. Defensive Wardens can keep your base alive and slow enemy pushes.

Assault Wardens help your team secure key kills and map control. Choosing a balanced team comp helps improve your win rate in a match. Matches in Highguard are decided by objectives, not by eliminations. If a match looks lost early, make sure to retreat and regroup. A loss doesn’t count toward this quest, so use the best tactics to complete every match to complete this quest.

7. Warden of Highguard

Completing all of the above quests in Highgaurd allows you to automatically complete this quest. It’s not a separate in‑match objective, as it’s awarded automatically once you finish all the individual quests. Thinning the Herd, Bring Down the Hammer, and Wear the Crown are the best quests to complete early.
