At launch, all players can get the Pit Fighters War Chest for free to unlock rewards like free skins and charms. Each character and weapon can have skins to gain a unique look. How To Get Free Skins
A War Chest in Highguard is essentially the game’s battle pass system, allowing you to unlock exclusive cosmetic rewards by playing the game. Each War Chest gives you access to a set of cosmetic items you can unlock, including player skins and weapon skins.
You must spend Vigil Tokens, a currency you earn by playing matches in Highguard. All players get Pit Fighters War Chest, that include 44 cosmetic rewards.
How To Obtain Vigil Token
This currency is obtained by playing matches and used to unlock cosmetic rewards in War Chests. The more matches you finish, the more tokens you get. Longer matches often give more Vigil Tokens than short matches. Make sure to complete the full game when possible.
You can only hold up to 3,000 Vigil Tokens at once, so spend them before hitting the cap. Once you hit the cap, you’ll stop earning more until you spend them to unlock rewards in the War Chest. Quitting the match early doesn’t allow you to earn the Vigil Tokens.
Unlock Free Rewards Using Vigil Tokens
Once you acquire enough currency, go to the Headwall tab in the main menu. Select War Chests, and either claim the free one or purchase a new one with Highguard Gold. Navigate to your War Chest screen in the Headwall and go to the War Chest section. There you’ll see the list of cosmetic rewards like skins, emotes, banners, and charms.
Each item in the War Chest has a Vigil Token cost ranging from 200 to 500 per reward. Select an item you want to unlock and confirm spending your Vigil Tokens to purchase it. You progress through pages or tiers of rewards in War Chests. Rewards or later pages may only unlock after purchasing enough items on the current page.
