1. Jumping Attacks Can Help You Get To Hard-to-Reach Items And Places.
It won’t be an understatement if it were to be said that everything in Hollow Knight: Silksong is about movement. From exploration to combat, everything you do boils down to how good your movement is. Jumping attacks can be executed by holding the down-forward or down-backward input alongside the attack button in mid-air.
You can also utilize jumping attacks on enemies and certain objects to double jump and reach places or items that were previously inaccessible. You will unlock more movement options as you progress through the game, which will further enhance your exploration and combat capabilities, but mastering jumping attacks will still help you out later.

2. Observe, If A Dead End Looks Suspicious, Attack It
There are many hidden paths in Hollow Knight: Silksong. You’ll often encounter dead ends that look like there might be a path leading behind them. Hitting these dead ends with your regular attacks a few times may unlock hidden paths that can lead you to new areas or hidden Rosary reserves.
Sometimes, a dead end might not budge at all if you attack it. But it doesn’t mean it really is a dead end. It might also be a shortcut, and to unlock it, you’ll have to explore around till you reach behind what appears to be a dead end.

3. Use Enemies Near Rest Points For Rosary Farming
Rosary is the in-game currency, and you’ll need a lot of them to buy maps and tools. Furthermore, Rosaries can also be used to unlock Resting and Fast-Travel points. Now, farming Rosaries can be troublesome as not all enemies drop them, and if you die, you’ll lose them all unless you’re able to reach your coccoon unharmed.
While there are certain farming spots early game, the best way to farm Rosaries is still by finding an enemy near a Rest point that drops them. If you keep defeating it repeatedly and then rest to make the enemies respawn, you’ll gain a ton of Rosaries. These Rosaries can then be used to purchase all sorts of items.

4. Save Up Frayed Rosary Strings
Frayed Rosary Strings are an in-game item that can be obtained from certain locations. This item allows you to instantly gain 30 Rosaries. The best thing about this item is that it won’t be lost if you die, and having an instant source of Rosaries can come in handy a lot, especially in the early game.
Certain Rest and Fast-Travel points will require you to spend Rosaries to unlock them. Having a Frayed Rosary String on yourself can make it incredibly easy to unlock these points, even if you’ve died a few times to get there.

5. Maps Are Essential; Always Buy Them First
On your journey, you’ll encounter a certain NPC who will allow you to purchase maps at the cost of Rosaries. This NPC keeps progressing alongside you in the story. So, you don’t have to backtrack to a previous location to purchase something you missed out.
Maps are extremely important in Hollow Knight: Silksong. Certain map sections have multiple exits and entry points, and it’s essential for you to explore every corner. If you’ve ever lost your way and are unsure where to head next, these maps will provide an easy way to navigate and to check if you’ve previously visited a route or not.

6. Don’t Always Rush To Heal
Healing consumes your entire Silk bar and leaves you vulnerable for a short amount of time. It’s best to only heal if you have enough of an opening. Furthermore, you should also try to get out of an attack’s way before you start healing, and keep in mind that you can also use heal while in mid-air.
The Warding Bell tool shields the bearer from damage while healing, and it negates the risk of healing in the middle of battle. However, you should also keep in mind that doing so will also consume your entire Silk bar, which will stop you from using certain other abilities.

7. Never Hesitate to Explore
Hollow Knight: Silksong has plenty of secrets and beautiful places that you might easily miss out on if you’re not exploring every corner of the map. You should never hesitate to explore, and if you can’t reach a ledge or location yet due to not having acquired the required ability, you can always return to it later.
It never hurts to backtrack to a previous location. Maybe you’ll find something that will make the time spent worth it. Visiting an area for the second time may also let you notice something that you might’ve missed the first time.

Familiarizing yourself with Hollow Knight: Silksong may take a while, especially if you’re not familiar with the genre. However, if you remain persistent and follow the above beginner tips, you’ll be able to overcome any obstacle the game throws at you.
