Bell Beast is the second main boss of Hollow Knight: Silksong and you’ll find it after you unlock the first Silk Skill, Silkspear. After Moss Mother, this boss presents a significant bump in difficulty. Not only does it deal massive damage, the fight also takes place in a tight arena where a single misstep can mean death.
In this guide, we’ll break down Bell Beast’s location, moveset, strategies, and the rewards you’ll get for defeating it.

Bell Beast Location
After obtaining the Silkspear ability, head back to the entrance of Mosshome. Instead of heading down to The Marrow, go right, past the sign to reach a room full of bells.
You’ll find the Bell Beast trapped in the webbing up ahead. Use Silkspear to break the webbing and trigger the boss fight.
Bell Beast Moveset
The biggest issue with the Bell Beast is that it leaves very few openings to attack. It keeps diving under the arena, forcing you to constantly be on the lookout for where it might spawn.
The Bell Beast has four main attacks. During its second phase, it also starts dropping bells from the ceiling, forcing you to constantly be on the move.
Jump Charge
The Bell Beast jumps out from one side of the arena and lands on the other side. It stays above ground for a few seconds before diving back down into the ground.
Ground Charge
The Bell Beast emerges on one side of the arena and charges to the other side on the ground. It dives back underground once the charge ends.
Emerging Attack
The Bell Beast emerges from the center of the arena and spawns two bells that bounce and roll to each side.
Falling Bells
After its health drops low enough, the Bell Beast shakes the entire arena causing bells to drop from the ceiling into the arena. The bells bounce once before breaking.
Bell Beast Strategies
The secret to beating the Bell Beast is figuring out which attack it’s about to use and reacting to it properly. Whenever the Bell Beast is about to emerge, the ground will start to shake. Use this to position yourself in the arena so that you can respond to its attacks.
If it comes out from one of the sides, it’ll do one of the charge attacks. If it does the Jump Charge Attack, follow it as it jumps to the other side and get in one or two hits before it dives back down.
For the Ground Charge Attack, you want to jump up and pogo on it as it charges to the other side. If you’re quick enough, you can get in a second pogo before it dives back under.
The Emerging Attack is pretty easy to avoid as long as you know it’s coming. Watch for the shaking ground in the middle part of the arena.
As soon as you spot it, run to one of the sides and wait for the bells to spawn. Jump over the bell before it hits you. If you stay on the edge of the arena, this attack is not a real threat.
If the entire arena starts to shake, the Bell Beast is about to do the Falling Bells attack. Watch the dust on the ceiling to predict where the bells will fall from and dodge under them.
When it enters the second phase, bells will constantly fall from the ceiling. But its basic attacks remain pretty much the same. As long as you don’t stay still and watch for openings, the Bell Beast should go down without any issues.
Rewards for Beating Bell Beast
After defeating the Bell Beast, you’ll have to complete a short platforming sequence. Once you reach the top, you’ll obtain a Silk Heart.
Defeating the Bell Beast also unlocks the fast travel in the game and grants you access to the next zones. It’s an essential boss required for story progression in Hollow Knight: Silksong.
