Depending on your chosen route, Lace is either the third or the fourth boss you’ll face in Hollow Knight: Silksong. Unlike the previous bosses, Lace is a lot more agile, going toe-to-toe with Hornet in acrobatic skills. She also has a larger arsenal of attacks that players must account for if they hope to beat her.
In this guide, we’ll break down Lace’s location in Deep Docks, moveset, strategies, and the rewards you’ll get for defeating it.

Lace Location

After obtaining the Swift Strides ability, return to the locked gate on the lower right side of Deep Docks. You can now access the upper platform by sprinting and jumping towards the ledge.

Activate the switch to lift the gate below. Head through it and jump onto the center platform to find Lace waiting for you.
Lace Moveset

Lace is an acrobatic boss and will quickly close in if you try to keep your distance. She has a total of five attacks that she cycles through during the encounter. Lace does not have a second phase.
Dash Attack
Lace lunges forward along the ground with her cane pointed straight ahead. She can cover roughly half of the arena with this move.

Parry and Counterslash
Lace lifts her cane to block incoming frontal attacks. If you strike her during this stance, she retaliates with multiple quick slashes. However, the parry only triggers if you hit her from the front. Hitting her from the back doesn’t trigger the counter.

Double Slash
Lace takes two quick steps forward, swinging her cane with each step. She pauses for a moment to pose after this attack.

Jump Attack
Lace leaps into the air while swinging her cane, then dives diagonally toward the ground after a brief air-time. Similar to the Double Slash attack, she stops for a pause after this move.

Aerial Combo
Lace marks a spot in front of her and begins charging. After a brief delay, she performs four rapid slashes in the marked area before diving down. This attack can hit you twice if you get caught in it.

Lace Strategies
The fight against Lace can seem overwhelming at first. Her varied moveset takes time to get used to, but once you recognize the tells of her attacks, the battle becomes far more manageable.

Her Dash Attack is the easiest to read, as she raises her cane to her face before lunging. Jump and pogo during the dash to dodge safely while landing a hit.
When she enters the Parry stance, avoid attacking unless you can get behind her. The damage from her counter isn’t worth the risk.

For the Double Slash, the safest thing to do is to jump over her. Using Swift Stride to dash behind her while jumping works well too, but don’t move too far away. This is the best opening for you to punish her. If you land close to her as she starts posing, you can get up to three free hits.
Her Jump Attack is the trickiest to dodge. Let her rise into the air, then dash toward her as she begins the dive to slip past to safety. You can also go in for some punish, if you manage to position well after this attack.

The Aerial Combo is also easy to avoid. The charge-up window is generous, giving you time to move away from the marked area. Once she dives down, you have a small opening to counter with one or two hits.
When you stagger Lace, you’ll have enough time to land up to four hits without interruption. Of course, you can also use this chance to heal up if you’re low on health. Take things slow and try to read Lace’s movements to take her down.
Rewards for Beating Lace

Defeating Lace opens the path to the Far Fields. She is an essential boss required for progressing through the story of Hollow Knight: Silksong.
