The Outer Worlds 2 is one of the most anticipated games of the month. While it faced a lot of controversy when its price was initially set at $80, the hype around the game has not died down. In fact, the backlash was so strong that Xbox eventually reversed its decision and dropped the price.
The game launches worldwide on October 29, 2025. However, many players may not be aware that early access is available. You can start playing the game five days before its official release, but unlocking early access can be a bit tricky.
In this guide, I’ll explain how to claim early access to The Outer Worlds 2 through Game Pass Ultimate as well as the standard method.

How To Claim Early Access
There are two ways to play the game early. One is to simply pre-order the Premium Edition, which costs $99.99. It depends entirely on you whether you think it is worth it to pay this amount just to play the game five days before its official release. That said, the other method is cheaper, but you will not have permanent access to the game.
You can take advantage of your Game Pass Ultimate subscription to play The Outer Worlds 2 early. However, it is not as simple as it may seem. If you have the Ultimate tier subscription, you will still not be able to play the game early by default. While the subscription gives you access to the game on day one, it does not include early access. It is only a requirement for the cheaper early access method.
The Game Pass Ultimate subscription (or PC Game Pass) only gives you the base game, meaning you get the Standard Edition. To unlock early access, you need to upgrade to the Premium Edition. This upgrade costs an additional $30. Once purchased, you will be able to play the game five days early on both Xbox and PC.
Unfortunately, for PlayStation fans, there is no cheaper method. You will need to buy the full Premium Edition for $99.99 to enjoy early access.
When Does The Early Access Unlock
The early access unlock time will depend on your time zone. The game will become available at the following times:
- PDT: October 23 at 9 PM
- EDT: October 24 at 12 AM
- BST: October 24 at 5 AM
- CEST: October 24 at 6 AM
- HKT: October 24 at 12 PM
