10 Beginner Tips For Hytale
Below are the best beginner tips for Hytale, allowing you to overcome the challenges that the game has to offer.
1. Collect Everything

Hytale is a game that requires you to craft new items to survive in the harsh world. You can acquire a lot of items while exploring the world. Make sure to collect all the essential items to use them later in the game. Most of the resources are used to craft new items at the workbench. Collect the resources, and they will be added to your inventory.
Collect the consumables like mushrooms and carrots to eat them to gain health and stamina. Craft a Crude Pickaxe and a Crude Hatchet using sticks, rubble, and plant fiber so you can mine stone and cut trees efficiently. Use wood and stone to craft a Tier 1 workbench, allowing you to unlock essential crafting recipes like better tools, weapons, and later armor.

The hotbar is smaller than the inventory, so you need to craft small chests to put your loot. Make sure to keep an organized stash after progressing a little bit. Most of the items are not used early in the game, but you will use them later. Items like wood, sticks, and redberries are crucial to obtain because you will use them multiple times for several tasks.
2. Upgrade the Gear

The game allows you to repair busted tools and weapons by using the required materials. Craft a repairing kit at the tier 1 workbench. You can find this in the second tab in the upper left corner. Equip the Repair Kit to your hotbar and choose the item you want to repair. Crafting the repairing kit requires items like 2xLinen Scraps, 1xIron Ingot, and 1xLight Leather.
Defeating the mobs allows you to gain Linen Scraps. Iron Ingots are harder to obtain, but you can refine them at the Tier 1 Furnace from iron ore. Once you find copper and iron ore underground, smelt them in a furnace to make better tools, weapons, and armor.
You can queue up multiple stacks of ore in a furnace instead of smelting one at a time. Repairing the weapons and armor puts your gear in an optimal state.
3. Build a Base

Building a base is essential to survive in a world filled with numerous enemies. Exploring the world at night can be dangerous, as many creatures can attack you. It’s best to stay at your base to avoid engaging in combat.
You can place your items in your base. Building a base can be challenging because you need to craft several items. Acquire 6xany tree trunk and 3xstones to craft a Builder’s Workbench.

Use this structure to craft building materials like pillars, platforms, stairs, doors, flooring, planks, and more. Choose a suitable area to build a base and use the Crude Pickaxe and a Crude Hatchet to start chopping and breaking the trees and stones. Make sure to farm them because you need more items to build a house.
Drag any wood into the Builder’s Workbench’s input after crafting the Builder’s Workbench. You can see different building material crafting options.
Use the required materials to craft platforms like doors, windows, and roofs. You need to use your own creativity to build a base. I highly recommend building ropes near the walls to climb above them to build the higher wall.
4. Explore the Map Thoroughly

Exploring the map in Hytale is essential to progress. Traversing in the world can be deadly, so make sure to equip the high-level armor and use the best weapons like Rusty Iron Axe. Use stair-step patterns or explore cave systems to find ores safely without falling.
The map reveals terrain around you automatically and lets you place markers for base locations, resources, or points of interest. Use the map to identify biomes, coastlines, or island shapes without fully exploring them on foot.

It’s best to place markers as soon as you find something important, as it saves time later. Navigate through the map to find something new in the world that can speed up your progress.
Staying up in one area will never take you to the end of the game. The world of Orbis is the first map you will find yourself on at the start of the game. Emerald Wilds is lush green and has vibrant terrain.
The south side of the map is Howling Sands and is more vertical and treacherous. Borea is on the north side of the map, that include glaciers, ice caves, and snowy taigas. The Devastated Lands features underground jungles and active volcanoes. Make sure to explore every POI on the map to progress in Hytale.
5. Combat & Survival

Enemies in Hytale are more deadly and can take your life with a few hits. Make sure to learn block, dodge, and time hits rather than spam attacks. The stamina is consumed while attacking the enemy with your weapon, so you have to save it. A sword + shield combo makes early combat much safer.
Food instantly heals, and some give stamina or regeneration bonuses. Always have some in your hotbar. Use jump + dash to avoid enemy hits and navigate terrain faster.
Use the weapon like one handed sword to eliminate the enemies in combat. Weapons like Copper Sword can deal more damage to enemies, making it easier to kill them within a few hits. Equip yourself with crude tools and weapons as early as you can. Block the enemy attacks and follow up with the counterattack to deal more damage.

Keep in mind that mobs can block your attacks, so use the right strategy to eliminate them. When you’re attacking, you don’t actually lose stamina. If you’re in the middle of the fight, the moment they hit you and drop your stamina, you can actually fight back and not worry because your stamina will come back as you’re attacking.
The only time you need to worry about stamina is whenever you’re blocking. Each weapon comes with its own attack pattern and reach. Heavy axe deals massive damage but gives an opening to the enemies. It’s best to use your dodge roll and then punish the enemies during their recovery animation. Charge attack and basic attack, and then block with the shield to avoid damage while moving back to recharge stamina.
Make sure to sprint back behind an obstacle or to high ground to eat a Food item if you somehow take damage from a monster. Invest resources into crafting armor at the Armorer’s Workbench to craft high-level armor to protect your character from taking damage.
6. Craft Useful Items

The game requires you to craft useful items like a Crude Hatchet, a Crude Pickaxe, and a Crude Sword. Some items can be crafted in the inventory, while crucial items are obtained by crafting them at the workbench. Use the required materials to craft the new items to use them while progressing. Collecting resources to construct a Workbench allows you to place a dedicated station.
Use 6xAny Tree Trunk and 4xAny Stone to craft Furniture Workbench. Once you craft it, place it at the suitable location. You need to craft the Farmer’s Workbench using the required materials like 6xAny Tree Trunk and 20x Plant Fiber. Use 6xAny Tree Trunk, 3xAny Stone, and 3x Light Hide to craft a Tanning Rack.
Interact with the workbench and select the Wooden Chest from the weapon tab. 10xAny Tree Trunk is consumed to craft it. You can use this chest to put the items from the inventory to free up some space. You need to interact with the wooden chest to insert items, so make sure to craft at least three of them.

Interact with the campfire after crafting it and add sticks in the fuel section. Place the Brown Cap Mushroom and Carrot in the Input to start making the recipe.
Make sure to craft weapons at the beginning of the game to eliminate the enemies you encounter. Use the required materials to craft the pickaxe to mine the nodes and the hatchet to break the trees or stones. Your character automatically becomes powerful if you have powerful crafted items in your inventory.
Crafting the useful items in Hytale is one of the beginning objectives to make the progression smooth. Wood, stone, and plant fibers are the core components to craft your initial set of tools and armor.
7. Capture the Horses

Exploring the map on foot can make you feel tired. But having a way of transport can save you time and energy. The game allows you to capture a horse to travel to different areas. You can locate the horse in the plains area. The horse is located near the Forgotten Temple Gateway.
You can’t tame them early due to the lack of resources or ability. You need to jump on them and trap them. Whenever there’s a point of interest, you can find a broken structure near it. You can use it to put the horse into it to trap it. Press the F key near an adult horse to ride them.
8. Carry Food Items

Navigating the world in Hytale can be challenging due to several threats. Enemies can attack you and deal damage. Your health becomes low, and you will die soon if you take more damage. Having some food items in your inventory can save your day. You can cook the food recipes at the campfire using the right ingredients.
Mushroom Skewers, Fruit Skewers, Meat Skewers, and Vegetable Skewers are the best food items to carry while exploring the world. Consuming them can increase your health and keep you active.
Make sure to craft the Chef’s Stove at the base. You can upgrade the Chef’s Stove to make advanced recipes. Use 1xStick and 4xAny Type of Vegetable to make a Vegetable Skewer.
Don’t forget to bring the food items while exploring caves, mines, or other biomes to expand your map. Cook meat from Cows, Bears, and other animals and consume them while traversing to gain some health. Use sticks, Wood blocks, or Charcoal to add fuel in campfire.
9. Acquire Essence of Life, Essence of Void, and Voidheart
Collect the Essence of Life, Essence of Void, and Voidheart at the beginning of the game. Essence of Life is obtained from carrots, plants, trees, and animals. Essence of Void and Voidheart are acquired from the animals you encounter during the night. Essence of Life is used to trade with the NPC in the Gateway HUB world.

You can find this NPC near the altar at the center of the HUB world. Use the Voidheart to craft the highest-tier weapon at the Blacksmith’s Anvil. This is essential to obtain because you need high-tier weapons to defeat the enemies. Essence of Void is the required item to craft the Arcanist’s Workbench at the Workbench. You can use this to craft recipes like high-level armor at the Armorer’s Workbench.
10. Acquire Light, Medium, and Heavy Leather

Equipping the armor is crucial to avoid taking damage from the enemy attacks. Using the best weapon and armor makes you a powerful character in Hytale. Light, Medium, and Heavy Leather are used to craft advanced weapons and armor. The primary sources of these items are animals in the form of Hide. Turn the Hide into Leather at the Tanning Rack.
Use the required materials to craft the Tanning Rack at the workbench and place it at a suitable location. Rabbits and other smaller animals grant you Light Hide after killing them. Cows, Horses and other animals larger than rabbits give Medium Hide. Acquiring the Heavy Hide can be challenging, as you need to defeat the bears or other larger creatures in the game.
