What is Mining in Hytale

Mining in Hytale is the core activity where you use tools like a pickaxe to break ore and stone blocks in the world to collect raw materials. These materials are essential for crafting better gear, weapons, and tools. Ores like Copper, Iron, Cobalt, Silver, Gold, Thorium, and Adamantite are found in different zones and biomes.
You explore caves, underground tunnels, and surface ore veins to mine these resources. Pickaxes are primarily used for mining ores, and most ores can be mined using an Iron Pickaxe. Ore spawns often cluster around natural caves and special biome regions.
When you mine ore blocks, you collect raw ore that can be smelted into an ingot. You can find multiple ores while exploring, and each ore can be used for different items.

How To Get an Iron Pickaxe For Mining

Craft the workbench from the inventory using the required materials. Tree Trunk and Stone are required to craft the standard workbench in Hytale. These materials are easy to find near your starting area. Once you place the workbench in your base, use 5xIron Ingot, 2xLight Leather, and 2xLinen Scraps to craft an Iron Pickaxe.
Mine Iron Ore underground using a copper pickaxe, then smelt it into Iron Ingots at a Furnace. Defeating the small animals like cows and rabbits allows you to gain Light Hide. Use this crafting item to convert into Light Leather at the Tanning Rack.
Defeat skeleton enemies in forests and caves to collect Linen Scraps. Once you obtain all the required materials, interact with the workbench to craft an Iron Pickaxe. Iron Pickaxes are significantly more durable and effective than Copper or Crude ones.
How To Mine Iron Ore

Iron Ore in Hytale is used for making better tools, weapons, and armor. You mine iron ore with a pickaxe like a Crude Pickaxe. However, a Copper Pickaxe or better makes the process faster and more durable. After mining ore, you smelt it in a Furnace to get Iron Ingots for crafting.
Howling Sands in the Desert biome is the best spot for Iron Ore because iron spawns in very high concentrations both on the surface and underground. Look for mine structures because these have exposed iron veins you can mine. Standard caves under the desert also have lots of iron.

Snowy caves and underground tunnels here also contain iron, but the iron can be mixed with other resources.
Azure Forests also have dense iron ore veins, especially in caves. Iron appears more at mid-depth and deeper cave levels in Emerald Plains. Iron ore can also appear below the surface in deeper caves near lava or lower terrain layers.
How To Mine Copper Ore

Copper Ore is one of the earliest and most common metals in the game. You use it to craft Copper Ingots by smelting, which is essential for early tools, weapons, armor, and basic crafting stations. To mine Copper Ore, you need a Crude Pickaxe.
Copper is most reliably found inside the starting biome in Zone 1. It usually spawns at depths around 15-30 blocks underground and appears in groups on stone walls. Look for cave entrances on hillsides or valleys, leading you towards the large ore deposits.
Copper can also be found in the underground caves of desert areas like Howling Sands. In some mountain biomes, you can even see copper ore exposed on the surface. Caves can be dark, so make sure to bring a torch to explore easily.
How To Mine Cobalt Ore

Cobalt ore is mainly found in the snowy, icy mountain regions of the Whisperfrost Frontiers biome. Look on mountain surfaces and cliff faces where the dark blue Cobalt veins stick out against stone and snow. Cobalt spawns in Devastated Lands, so make sure to find it on the surface and inside the cave.
Cobalt ore appears on surface mountain slopes and inside caves of these colder biomes. Surface mining is safer, while caves may offer larger deposits. Snowy mountain slopes and rocky cliffs in cold biomes are often the best starting point because you can spot dark blue ores from a distance.
How To Mine Thorium Ore

Thorium Ore in Hytale is for crafting stronger weapons, armor, and tooling stations. You can find this in specific biomes rather than the starting area. Smelt it in a Furnace to make Thorium Ingots. Use those ingots to craft Thorium weapons, tools, armor, and workstation upgrades.
The Howling Sands desert region is the most reliable place to find Thorium. Find the mountains, hill and cliff faces within the desert. Underground caves in this biome usually contain larger amounts of Thorium ore. You can also find it in Badlands terrain, which is rocky areas within the Howling Sands.
Thorium also appears in Devastated Lands or volcanic regions, either in caves or as drops from tough enemies. Look for green ore veins in rocky hillsides to acquire this crafting item.
How To Mine Adamantite Ore

Adamantite Ore in Hytale is one of the top-tier late-game ores and is used for crafting powerful weapons, tools, and armor. It’s rarer and more dangerous to obtain than Copper, Iron, Thorium, or Cobalt. Adamantite Ore or Ingots can be found in chests in structures or camps in high-tier zones.
The Devastated Lands is the main biome where Adamantite spawns. This area is volcanic and is filled with hostile enemies and dangerous terrain. These areas tend to have a dark, scorched look with red/purple rock regions.
Make sure to look for bright-red or purple tinges in rock and lava zones. Adamantite Ore or Ingots can be found in chests in structures or camps in high-tier zones.
How To Mine Silver Ore

Silver Ore is a mid-tier ore found in specific zones. Once mined, you smelt it into Silver Ingots for use in crafting higher-level items. Silver can be rare and hard to locate, even after searching different biomes. Cold mountain and snowy biomes are the best reliable places to find Silver Ore.
Look for exposed veins on cliff faces or just beneath the surface on rocky slopes to get your hands on this crafting item. Tundra and mountain ridges provide good access to Silver Ore deposits. Silver can also appear underground in cave systems connected to snowy regions.
It’s less common than surface veins but still worth checking. Silver Ore mainly appears in Zone 2, like desert or cold edge areas, and Zone 3, like cold and snowy regions. Make sure to scan shallow slopes because this saves time over digging deep shafts.
How To Mine Gold Ore

Any pickaxe can work to mine the gold. After collecting Gold Ore, place it in a Furnace with fuel like wood or charcoal to craft Gold Ingots. Unlike iron or copper, gold is often on exterior rock faces, especially in high terrain.
The snowy mountainous biomes in Zone 3 are the best place to mine the gold ore in Hytale. Gold often spawns on the surface of cliff faces and mountain slopes, making it much easier to spot. Gold blocks appear as bright yellow-gold that stands out against snow and stone.
This ore also appears in the Howling Sands desert biome, especially on high plateaus, mesas, and rock formations. Gold can spawn near lava in deep cave systems and sometimes as solid gold blocks in Devastated Lands.
How To Mine Sapphire

Sapphire is a rare gemstone in Hytale that is used as a crafting ingredient. This one is used to craft the Ice Crystal Staff. Any pickaxe will break Sapphire crystals, but better pickaxes like Iron or above make the process faster. Sapphire appears as bright blue crystal clusters, often glowing slightly.
Sapphire spawns as glowing blue crystal clusters integrated into mountain rock faces in snowy, frost-covered regions. These icy peaks and cliffs are generally the most reliable spot to find Sapphire. Make sure to look for bright blue glimmers on stone surfaces.
Some sapphires can also be found on the ocean floor, especially near the edges of cold biomes like Whisperfrost Frontiers. Certain Gold Block piles in volcanic regions can also have Sapphire embedded with them.
These areas are dangerous due to lava and tough enemies, but give Sapphire spawns. Start your search in the snowy mountain peaks rather than flat plains. Cold biomes and ocean dives can be risky, so bring torches and gear.
How To Mine Diamonds

Diamonds are one of the rarest gemstone resources in Hytale. This one is much rarer than iron, gold, or sapphire. Diamonds spawn deep underground, often close to the bottom of the world near the magma level. These deposits are usually surrounded by white crystal formations in rock, so explore the caves and tunnels near lava.
You can find this near the edges of Zone 3, like Whisperfrost Frontiers and Zone 4 (Devastated Lands / volcanic areas. Make sure to look for steep underwater walls and ridges when diving. Look for white crystals on rock faces as these indicate diamond nodes.
How To Mine Ruby

Ruby is a rare late-game mineral used in crafting powerful magic weapons such as the Flame Crystal Staff. Zoom out your map to spot gold brick markers in volcanic regions before traveling. I highly recommend bringing water buckets to neutralize lava.
The primary and most reliable place to find Ruby is in the Volcanic biome of Hytale’s Zone 4. These areas are marked on the world map with volcanic symbols and dark terrain. Ruby almost always spawns in underground structures with Gold Brick Piles in the Volcanic biome.
These special areas are marked by small gold-colored blocks on your map. Inside these vaults, you’ll find Ruby ore nodes and frequently Sapphire too. Use the higher-level pickaxe, like Iron, to mine rare ores faster. Explore multiple gold brick sites rather than random digging.
