Discover everything you need to know about all armors in Hytale, including how to obtain them while progressing.
Armor in Hytale protects your character from damage while exploring and fighting monsters. Armor pieces are worn in specific slots like the helmet, chest, gauntlets, and greaves, and increase your defense and survivability.
Armor is crafted at a special crafting station called the Armorer’s Workbench, which unlocks stronger armor. Each armor piece comes in different material tiers, with higher tiers giving better protection.
Copper is the first tier of metal armor you can make. This is stronger than basic leather or wood armor but weaker than most others. Mithril is one of the strongest armor materials currently, but requires resources like Mithril Ingots, Storm Leather, and rare essences. Each armor tier provides increasing defense and durability, making tougher enemies easier to handle.

How To Get Armor in Hytale

The main way to get armor is by crafting it at a special crafting station known as the Armorer’s Workbench. Craft a normal workbench from the pocket crafting using the required materials. Lace the standard workbench inside the base and interact with it to craft Armor’s Workbench. Use 2xCopper Ingot, 10xTree Trunk, and 5xStone to craft this crafting bench. At the Armorer’s Workbench, you can craft Helm, Cuirass, Gauntlets, and Greaves.
You can also find armor in chests while exploring structures or ruins. Acquiring the armor by exploring the world is random and less reliable than crafting. Make sure to initiate with Copper Armor, then upgrade to Iron and beyond as you gather better ores.
It’s best to refine ingots at the Furnace and process leather in the Tanning Rack, as you need these before you can craft armor. Light Leather is processed from Light Hide, which is obtained by killing smaller animals like rabbits. Heavy Leather is used to craft Adamantite armor pieces.

How to Repair Armor in Hytale

Yes, you can repair the armor in Hytale using the repair kit. There isn’t a special armor repair bench or free repair at a workbench. Instead, you craft and use a Repair Kit item to fix armor, tools, and weapons. Use the required materials to craft the repair kit at the workbench tier 1. Place the Repair Kit in your hotbar and activate it.

A repair menu opens, showing all damaged gear you have equipped or in your inventory. Select the armor you want to fix, but the kit is consumed, and the item’s durability is restored.
When you repair armor with a Repair Kit, the item’s maximum durability is permanently reduced by up to 10%. The armor can ultimately become less effective or wear out permanently if you choose to repair it too much.
The best tactic is to replace cheap armor rather than repair it repeatedly at early game, because the repair kits cost materials. Make sure to save repair kits for high-tier armor or gear you want to keep.
