All Bosses in Hytale

Bosses in Hytale are the high-level enemies that are located in specific locations. These bigger mobs have a unique attack pattern and can eliminate you if you’re not fully prepared. Learning their playstyle and attack style is crucial to defeating them effectively.

Hytale bosses don’t typically spawn randomly in the world like ordinary mobs. Many boss fights are tied to special arenas, dungeons, or crafted gateways. This requires you to make an Arcanist’s Workbench and an Ancient Gateway to reach some boss fight areas.

Below are all the bosses you can find while exploring the world.

  • Burnt Skeleton Praetorian: Located in the overworld. arena with spikes and green flames in the Fens or Emerald Wilds.
  • Earthen Golem: Before the portal in the Forgotten Temple in the Emerald Wilds biome.
  • Firesteel Golem: Underground caverns near lava flows.
  • Golin Duke: Goblin dungeons in Emerald Grove Zone 2, in gold‑filled arenas.
  • Scarak Broodmother: Howling Sands region zone 2, deep in Scarak nests.
  • Trork Chieftain: Trork camps and ritual grounds in Emerald Grove Zone 1.
  • Cave Rex: Located inside the underground jungle below the Devastated Lands.
  • Sandswept Golem: Desert elemental boss found beneath desert temples behind the closed doors underground.

1. Burnt Skeleton Praetorian

The Burnt Skeleton Praetorian in Hytale is a powerful overworld boss found in Emerald Wilds inside a special arena full of green‑flamed braziers and spikes. This boss fights aggressively with melee attacks, uses its shield, and summons skeleton minions during combat.

Burnt Skeleton Praetorian Attack Pattern

The boss charges briefly and dashes toward you. Immediately after the dash, it typically follows up with a heavy sword swing. Make sure to watch the boss’s shoulder or foot animation for the charge wind‑up and strafe sideways.

The boss has a melee swing with its sword and can deal heavy damage if you’re nearby without any defense. Burnt Skeleton Praetorian can channel energy from the ground and spawn multiple skeleton minions during the fight. These minions are very annoying and can overwhelm you.

How to Defeat Burnt Skeleton Praetorian

Make sure to equip at least Thorium armor and weapons to increase your survivability. A shield is very valuable to block charged attacks or heavy swipes. Using a shortbow or crossbow allows you to chip away at its health safely. Make sure to keep moving while firing. No need to stand directly in front of the boss, especially when its shield blocks projectiles.

The lunging charge of the boss is slow but powerful. Circle‑strafe rather than backing up when you see the boss winding up. Take out the minions first when they spawn because their speed and numbers can force you into bad positioning. Circle the arena to dodge predictable attack arcs.

Use food and healing potions to make the fight longer. Raise your shield to reduce the damage effect if you get caught in a charge.

Rewards: Defeating the Burnt Skeleton Praetorian allows you to gain Essence of Fire and Thorium Ingot.

2. Earthen Golem

The Earthen Golem in Hytale is a major boss located in front of the Forgotten Temple Gateway in the Emerald Wilds biome. This boss is guarding the blue portal that leads into the Forgotten Temple. You need to defeat this boss to progress further. You can sometimes run past the golem and enter the portal without killing it.

Earthen Golem Attack Pattern

The boss has predictable but powerful melee attacks. The attacks have slow animations, making timing and positioning key to winning the fight. Earthen Golem spins with both arms extended, hitting multiple times in a wide arc.

You can avoid blocking with a weapon, but it drains stamina quickly. Make sure to dodge quickly to get out of the way, or just use a shield with your sword.

Earthen Golem raises one or both stone arms and slams down on you. This attack can be telegraphed by a slow wind‑up that you can dodge or block with a shield. There’s also a punch attack with a forward thrust with one arm that hits hard if you’re in melee range. Make sure to retreat before it connects.

The boss lifts a massive foot and stomps the ground, causing a small area shock. All you need to do here is to keep some distance when you see the golem prepare this move.

How To Defeat Earthen Golem

Use the ranged attacks to kite the golem as the boss moves slowly. Using the crossbow or shortbow allows you to maintain a good distance from the boss. Hit the sword or daggers once or twice, then back up before the golem can counterattack. Make sure to repeat this pattern to lower its health while avoiding heavy hits.

Use the shield to reduce the stamina drain and incoming damage rather than blocking with your weapon. Raise your shield at the right moment to avoid major health loss. I highly recommend managing your stamina during the combat, or else you will become vulnerable. Carry cooked food or potions so you can heal when safe.

Rewards: Defeating the Earthen Golem allows you to obtain Emerald and Green Crystal Shards.

3. Firesteel Golem

The Firesteel Golem is an elemental boss‑type mob found underground in the Drifting Plains biome. This boss is available on a stone platform surrounded by lava. It’s slower and more durable, with high health and resistance. Defeating this boss is much more difficult than defeating the Earthen Golem.

Firesteel Golem Attack Pattern

It’s not fast, but hits hard when it lands a strike. Firesteek Golem has high durability, so iron‑tier gear is recommended if you want to fight it. The boss still takes damage while standing in lava. Its aggro range keeps it near its initial platform, and it will reset if pulled too far away.

This boss has predictable wind‑ups with slow animations that you can dodge or block with your weapon.

How To Defeat Firesteel Golem

Ranged weapons like bows or crossbows allow you to dominate this boss from a safe distance. Keep your distance when possible because the boss is slow and hits hard up close. Lure the boss into lava when possible to let the boss take some damage.

Tanking is not recommended even with the high-level armor. If you pull the boss too far away, it snaps back to its spawn. Make sure to use this reset to safely reposition and continue poking it with your crossbow or shortbow.

4. Golin Duke

The Golin Duke is essentially a Goblin faction leader and serves as the culmination of a Goblin dungeon run. You can find this boss in Emerald Grove (Zone 2) in a large treasure chamber filled with gold. It’s more of a high‑reward encounter guarding valuable loot.

The fight takes place in a treasure room arena, meaning positioning matters. The Golin Duke is more aggressive and hits harder, so gear quality and combat timing are also crucial.

How To Defeat Golin Duke

Shortbows or crossbows allow you to chip away while staying out of melee range. Once his main attack is initiated, you can close for short bursts, then back off. Make sure to bring the best armor and weapons, like a dagger and bows, for this encounter.

Consume the food and potions to gain additional buffs and health. Dodge sideways or use a shield rather than blocking directly with a weapon. The arena often has gold piles and dungeon obstacles, so these can break the sight line.

Reward: Defeating the boss allows you to gain gold and valuable dungeon treasures, making this fight rewarding both for progression and gear upgrades.

5. Scarak Broodmother

The Scarak Broodmother lives underground beneath an overworld spire in the Howling Sands (Zone 2) biome. You can find this boss inside a Scarak hive structure filled with purple crystals, glowing mushrooms, and hanging egg sacs. This is a queen‑style boss and essentially the center of a Scarak hive. The fight is more about managing waves of enemies than just hitting a single target.

Scarak Broodmother Attack Pattern

The Scarak Broodmother fight revolves around spawned minions and swarm pressure. These ads are smaller but rush towards you. Survival is much easier if you handle these adds before focusing on the boss. The boss doesn’t have regular melee or ranged boss strikes like golems or skeleton bosses. The real threat comes from mob swarms and positioning in the narrow cave.

How To Defeat Scarak Broodmother

Use ranged weapons to pick off mobs at a distance before they overwhelm you. Clearing minions lets you focus fire on the Broodmother more safely. Attacking from range reduces the chance of getting surrounded by lava.

Make sure to keep movement space to avoid being cornered by swarms. The area often has egg sacs, narrow pathways, and terrain features that can trap you if you stand in one position. Make sure to fight near open spaces when possible and avoid being flanked. Potions, cooked food, and tools with area damage help you survive longer.

Reward: Defeating the Scarak Broodmother allows you to gain Sturdy Chitin and Venom Sac.

6. Trork Chieftain

The Trork Chieftain lives in Trork encampments in the Emerald Grove (Zone 1) biome. This area is surrounded by palisade walls, watchtowers, and patrolling Trorks. Make sure to find the Chieftain inside the largest building at the center of the camp.

Trork Chieftain Attack Pattern

The boss swings its battleaxe from below upward, targeting players if you’re nearby. You need to dodge backward to avoid getting hit. Overhead Strike includes a powerful axe chop from above. This attack winds up with a high overhead animation.

You must block or roll to avoid the heavy impact. The Slash attack of this boss is a diagonal swing in front of the boss that covers a broad arc. Keep a good distance or slide around the boss’s side to dodge. These moves are all melee‑based, so the fight is about positioning and timing.

How To Defeat the Trork Chieftain

Before engaging the Chieftain, take out the regular Trorks. Their numbers can overwhelm you and make the boss fight much harder. Luring Trorks away and defeating them first gives you space to fight the boss alone. Weapons like daggers with a charge attack work well because their lunge can push you back after striking.

Hold the attack button plus forward movement to maximize this lunge. Forcing the boss or minions through chokepoints gives you time to land hits effectively. You need to roll or step sideways when you see the animation begin. After that, punish with a quick counterattack.

Reward: Defeating the Trork Chieftain allows you to gain Linen Scraps and Stone Trork.

7. Cave Rex

The Cave Rex is a massive dinosaur creature found in the underground jungle beneath the Devastated Lands (Zone 4) in Forgotten Jungle. It’s one of the most dangerous enemies in that biome and is treated as a boss‑level challenge. This biome has rainforest vegetation, lava flows, and large cave systems.

Cave Rex Attack Pattern

The boss lunges forward and snaps its jaws at you in a powerful bite. This is its main damaging attack, and landing a few of these can get you killed quickly. The Rex can grab you with its jaws and fling you into the air, causing heavy fall damage and loss of control.

How To Defeat Cave Rex

Make sure to bring armor like Cobalt/Adamantite type because the Cave Rex hits very hard in combat. Stock up on food, healing items, and torches for clear vision. Circle around it, and avoid being directly in front. After the Rex lunges, there’s a brief recovery window.

Use melee strike combos or abilities during this time. Blocking early can drain stamina, so try to dodge and then counterattack. Use pillars, rock outcrops, and lava pockets to break the line of sight. Always keep an exit path clear so you can retreat to heal if overwhelmed. The Rex can see and chase players from far away, so don’t approach casually.

Reward: Defeating the Cave Rex allows you to gain Heavy Hide and Raw Wildmeat.

8. Sandswept Golem

The Sandswept Golem is an elemental boss type found in Hytale, usually deep underground behind desert temple doors in the Zone 2 desert biome. This boss is harder to eliminate due to its unique attack and pattern, devastating hits.

Sandswept Golem Attack Pattern

The boss has heavy melee swings and overhead strikes. It also has slow, powerful attacks that are easy to predict but hard to tank. Sandswept Golem has melee attacks and can take much of your health. Get out of sight while the boss is preparing to attack you.

How To Defeat Sandswept Golem

Elemental golems usually give clear cues before big swings or stomps, so I recommend you learn to dodge or block. Bows or crossbows help you deal damage safely if you’re struggling to survive up close. Approach for 1 to 2 hits, back off before the boss counters.

Shields are effective in reducing damage when predicting an attack. Bring healing items and stamina regeneration food to live longer in combat. Make sure to wear decent armor to survive powerful swings.

Rewards: Defeating the Sandswept Golem in Hytale allows you to gain Cobblestone and Cyan Crystal Shards.
