This game takes everything up a notch and gives you a solid experience when it comes to handling a turret. However, if it has managed to replicate handling a turret, that just means it is going to be that complicated too.

Iron Nest Checklist

The following is the checklist for Iron Nest that details every step you need to take.

Read The Order

You must know by now that Iron Nest does not task you with simply shooting the turret by pointing it at something and moving on. Instead, it gives you a proper order, and you have to solve a major puzzle.

First of all, check the High Command message, and when done with that, check out the information from the reports. Then, identify your current objective and note the target location. This does not have to be precise right now, as you are simply noting the information on hand.

The information you are going to receive is a part of the puzzle, and you need to use it to solve that particular puzzle. Make sure you read everything carefully because missing one important detail can make the next steps more difficult.

Gather More Information

Now, you need more information because what you know currently is not going to cut it. For that, you will need to head to the tactical map. The first thing you need to do is locate where the turret is. Once done, it is time to locate the target.

So, use the information from the order or intelligence to locate the target. If not possible, check whether you missed any information that may be crucial.

When done, mark the target position on the map. If you mess up, no need to worry; you will have more chances. The important thing is to understand where the mistake happened so you do not repeat it later.

Note: There is a proper way of doing things in Iron Nest, and the checklist is designed to show you that way. You should follow it step by step and use it to confirm that you have completed every step and double-checked your work.

Measure The Target

Once you have enough information, it will be time to measure the target. So, again, use the map to determine the required measurements.

There are going to be two main things you have to check. The first one is going to be the distance from the target, and the second one is going to be the direction or bearing.

This is important because the trajectory of your shot is going to depend on it. So, as you are entering the digits in the machine, make sure to double-check that and make sure to enter the right amount. You need to make sure the measurements are entered correctly.

Even if they are off, they need to be input correctly, as this is going to be an important part of the process. You can learn from the first failed shot, but if your shot failed because of incorrect input, that is going to hurt.

The goal here is to ensure that if something goes wrong, you can identify the actual cause of the mistake rather than having multiple possible causes.

Prepare The Firing Solution

The next step is going to be to work out the firing solution. If you have already entered the appropriate measurements in the ballistic calculation system, you are all good.

Simply double-check if you have entered everything correctly and then check the calculated firing solution.

Then, make sure the solution corresponds to the correct target. After that, double-check everything from the start, and when done, it is time for the next step. This may seem repetitive, but it is better to catch an error here than after firing the shot.

Time To Prepare The Turret

The first thing you need to check while preparing the turret is to make sure the required ammunition is available and that you have chosen the right one. Then, you will have to load the required ammunition and make sure to load the given amount. Do not exceed the amount.

Once done, it is time to set the gun elevation and then the bearing. You would already have the numbers available, so get going and then use the turret panel to check everything. Now, the turret is going to move very slowly, so you can do other tasks while that is happening.

Double-check the information or do something else while you wait. You can use this time to make sure your firing solution and ammunition are still correct. When everything is done, do not fire just yet.

Note: As Iron Nest is quite complicated, you should review the checklist from the beginning before firing to make sure everything is in order. While you will not be able to unload the ammunition, the checklist will serve as a reference for future use.

Final Steps Before Firing

Now, before firing, you need to check one last time if the target, coordinates, map measurements, range, bearing, elevation, and other main things are correct.

Do not forget that if you have inserted more rounds of ammunition than necessary, you cannot do anything about it. Once you have loaded the ammunition, it is a done deal until you shoot. So, once you have done the final observation and everything looks correct, it is time to fire and hope everything went right.

Even if it did not go right, do not worry. You can simply learn from your first shot. The first shot can give you useful information about what went wrong, so make sure you pay attention to the result.

Time To Observe The Result

Now that you have fired the turret, it is time to observe what you have done.

Wait for the battlefield information and result, and if you have missed the target by a lot, then that may mean that your position was off. You may not have inserted the right bearing, or there may have been another mistake in your measurements or firing solution.

You need to make sure the gun of the turret you are using is facing where the target is, and you can check that manually too.

Once you have examined the map and seen where you may have messed up, it is time to correct those mistakes.

You cannot understand what happened unless you look at the results. Mistakes are a part of the game, so there is no shame in failing to hit the target. It could happen to anyone.

Just learn from the mistake and see where you fell short. The result of the shot is what helps you understand what needs to be changed for the next attempt.

Correcting The Next Shot

Now, once you have failed the first shot, you should make the next one count. So, do not change several settings altogether. That is not how this game works. Carefully examine what went wrong and change what needs to be changed. If everything needs to be changed, then go with that. However, start checking from scratch.

First of all, check whether the error came from the map measurement. Secondly, check whether the bearing is right. You can see that on the map too. Thirdly, see whether the distance is correct. Lastly, check if you selected the wrong ammunition.

When you have checked everything and found a mistake, simply correct it and re-aim the turret. Once done, fire again and hopefully you will hit the target.

If you again fail to hit the target, then do not worry. See where you fell short again and correct your mistake. That is how you improve, and that is how Iron Nest works.
