How To Craft

Lay of the Land

When you first start the game, you need to collect sticks, flint, and plant fibers. They are just lying around near the starting area, while plant fibers can be picked from plant reeds. Sticks are found on grassy ground, and Flint is found on rocky ground.

Open the tab to check the crafting menu. Here, you can also read the crafting recipes. To craft a rope, you need to place the plant fiber on the ground and press the button while hovering your mouse over it. Place the rope, flint, and stick together to make a Flint Axe. You will also craft all other tools the same way.

How To Build

To build houses and complex building structures, you need to gather materials using the tools you crafted. To get oak wood, simply use your axe on a nearby tree. The tool you are using will wither and disappear after you have used it too much.

After getting enough oak planks at your disposal, you can start building structures. You can get creative here, as there are several build settings you can tweak.

In the build mode, you can select specific shapes. These can be adjusted to your specifications after placement. You can also change the height of the blocks, which is helpful while building walls. Toggle detail mode to build very precisely using voxels.

Lay of the Land

To build, simply place the plank by clicking the left mouse button, and then move around to cover the area. Press the button again, and the material will be placed in the area you mapped. There may be some obstructions here, which you may need to remove.

If you are not satisfied and want to redo, equip your axe and then use it on the planks to retrieve the materials you used. Building is a major focus of Lay of the Land, so experiment and be creative here.

How To Get Food

You need food to get unique effects, and hunting animals is a good food source. Craft a wooden bow with flint arrows. To cook it, you can craft a campfire using six sticks.

Place the food over the campfire and wait a while. Once the item description changes from raw to cooked, you can pick it up and eat.

How To Craft Weapons

Craft Hammer and Shovel. Hammer is used to break stone, and you can use the shovel to gather clay near the river. These are cracked, greyish blocks along the coast near the sand. You can also collect sand and dirt near the river.

Craft the stone into stone bricks first and then use these materials to craft a Kiln. Place sticks inside the Kiln to start a fire. Craft a basic smeltery using stone and terracotta obtained from burning clay.

In a cave, look for a brown patchy area, then use your hammer to mine copper. Melt copper in the kiln, and place the mould on the side. Pour the mould to cast the weapon. Craft the copper sword.

How To Get a Horse

Lay of the Land

Use your dagger to cut the tall pieces of grass. You can feed them to a horse to befriend it. Name your horse, and you can ride it for easy travelling.
