Marathon – Best Team Compositions

Marathon featured

Marathon is a first-person extraction shooter where your skills matter the most. However, skills are built slowly with time and practice, so you cannot rush that unless you are a prodigy. Even with skills, there are some things, like loadout and which runner you choose, that play an important role.

So, while playing in a team is better, you still need to have proper compositions, as I believe that is more important than your loadout. That is because you can build your loadout even during the match, but you cannot change your team. So here, in this guide, I will tell you about the best team compositions in Marathon.

Disclaimer

This team composition guide is based on my experience in Marathon. After playing with these teams myself, I decided to go with the following compositions. You may have a different experience from mine, as everyone’s playstyle can be different, so you may come up with a different composition, and that is totally fine.

Best Beginner-Friendly Team

One of the best team compositions in Marathon, and actually a beginner-friendly team, is two Destroyers and one Triage. Destroyer is a highly beginner-friendly runner mainly because of its abilities. Destroyer has a shield and homing missiles. It is basically a tank and is pretty easy to play.

You cannot go wrong with this character, and two of them can actually be pretty advantageous in the early game, especially. Along with that, the Triage can heal both of them, which works out for the best. So, if you want to learn the game and get better at the basics, I recommend going with this team composition.

Best Offensive Team Composition

If you want to play fully offensive in Marathon, then unfortunately, you will have to drop the healer. However, I do not recommend this team composition if you are new to extraction shooters. You should not even use this if you have played extraction shooters but are new to Marathon, as it can take time to get used to a game.

That said, if you have played the game a bit and want to experience runners that can destroy others if played right, then I recommend choosing Destroyer, Recon, and an Assassin. These three will surely wreak havoc when played right, as Recon will reveal the location of the enemies, and the rest can set up positioning in that manner.

The Assassin runner can also take advantage of the stealth ability and take out the enemy before they are even aware of the runner’s presence.

Best Defensive Team Composition

While you can use two Destroyers and one Triage for a defensive team, too, you can replace one Destroyer with Vandal, as she can knock back enemies well. Destroyer will be the tank, while Vandal can confuse the enemies, and Triage will keep both of them alive.

For the best defensive team, you cannot just use all of the tank characters. Sure, they would have the most defense, but you need a team that can be more defensive when it actually counts. So, you cannot go wrong with using Vandal, Destroyer, and Triage.

Best Stealth Team Composition

For a stealth-focused team, you can technically run three Assassins, but that is not optimal. This can be used mostly for fun and trolling purposes, but if you are someone who understands this character very well, then you can surely optimize it well enough to dominate the battle zone.

Still, this is not a team that everyone can use and is only suitable for a pretty limited group of players. That is pretty much it for my best team compositions guide in Marathon. In the beginning, you should not think too much about the team and just choose whatever you want. You should first pick a main and then focus on team compositions later.
