Best Beginner Tips and Tricks For Misery

Below are the best beginner’s tips and tricks to start your journey in Misery.

1. Play with your friends

You and up to four friends can play as security contractors in this fictional country where scientists were studying these weird anomalies and artifacts. So long story short, a war broke out over these artifacts, and someone dropped nukes everywhere.

Now you are stuck trying to survive in the radioactive mess that’s left behind. Playing with your friends can help you a lot while collecting valuable loot or tackling the threats. Playing alone can be challenging as the world is big and you’ll never know where to go, and you can get lost coming back to the bunker.

2. Collect Useful Items During First Extraction

The game starts essentially with a siren blaring, and you’ve got exactly 60 seconds to grab whatever supplies you can find. Once you’re in the bunker, that becomes your new home base, and the real survival game begins. Collect only the valuable items during the extraction to use them later in the game.

You can go up the stairs and move into the room behind the stairs, and grab the Turist Suit, which will help you carry more inventory. Moreover, try and grab a Medkit and Bandages from the rooms next to the extraction.

Picking the unnecessary items will only add weight to your inventory. Choose the item that gives you more flexibility in the game. Most items are required to craft new recipes at the crafting station, so consider that too.

3. Complete Your Daily Job

Every day, you head out into what they call the exclusion zone to search through randomly generated locations like old military bases, research stations, and destroyed cities. You’re basically scavenging for anything useful: food, water, weapons, and building materials.

You need to return to the bunker before the Emission ends, or else you will die miserably. Your goal outside the bunker is to collect the valuable items and unveil all the hidden secrets.

4. Be Aware of the Threats

The zone itself is pretty hostile. You’ve got bandits who will shoot you on site. Mutated creatures that all behave differently, and some anomalies can either help you or kill you, depending on what they are. Radiation is everywhere, so you need to watch your exposure.

The anomalies are weird environmental hazards that nobody really understands, but they can create these valuable artifacts that you can find and then sell. Their catch is that you need to actually survive getting to them first.

Use the pistol or sledgehammer against the anomalies if possible, or else just run away from them. The flying anomaly can easily eliminate you, so make sure to hide yourself in the building nearby.

5. Upgrade And Decrote Your Bunker

Your bunker is where you manage everything between runs. You can expand it room by room, build different stations for crafting and cooking, set up generators, and even start growing your own food.

The open area with the helicopter is also part of your safehouse, and you will be able to upgrade it with walls, stairs, craft, and store items. There’s also the bar in the basement of the research institute, where you can trade items with different types of merchants.

You can decorate your bunker with furniture and items you find during raids, which sounds minor, but it’s part of making the place feel like home. Use the Sledgehammer to break the concrete wall of the bunker to uncover new areas inside it.

6. Do Everything to Survive

The actual survival mechanics are pretty detailed in Misery. You need to manage hunger, thirst, and radiation sickness. But there’s also a sanity system where too much stress makes you start hallucinating. If your mental state gets bad enough, you can even turn hostile toward your own teammates.

The daylight cycle matters a lot because you absolutely need to get back to your bunker before dark. Grow the crops outside the bunker in the small crop. Wait for a while and harvest the items like tomatoes, carrots, and cucumbers to consume to replenish your health, stamina, hunger, and thrust level.

7. Find Dwarfs and Make Friends

You can find these other survivors in the zone, like these little dwarf creatures, who you can recruit by giving them vodka. They will follow you around and carry extra supplies, which is useful since inventory space is limited. Death is punishing because you lose whatever you’re carrying. So each expedition is a risk and feels rewarding.

8. Craft New Recipes

Craft the required recipes using the materials at the crafting station in the bunker. New recipes are required to progress in Misery. Make sure to collect the required materials for a recipe while exploring the world. The more valuable items you craft, the more easily you can upgrade the bunker and progress in it.

9. Trade Valuable Items

The game allows you to sell and purchase items from the traders in the Sirzez undergrounds. Select the items that you already have or don’t need at the moment to buy another valuable item. Trading in Misery allows you to get rid of the extra items and purchase the valuable item.

There are different traders in the game, and each one offers different items. Get inside the Sirzez from the bunker door and interact with the trader.

The first trader you encounter is Barman, who offers items like Raw Cockroach, Can of Stew, Vodka, Beer, and more. You can also sell the items to the traders to earn money. You can sell items like Tomato, Carrot, Wheat, and more to these NPCs as well.

Get inside the other room to interact with the Dealer who purchases weapons like PM, TT-33, TOZ, SVO, and more. You can purchase items like PM MAG, PPSH MAG, RGO-S, and more from the Dealer.

Tailor is another NPC that offers a Gas Mask, a Hamzat Suit, a Hiking Backpack, and more. You can also sell Worker Suit, Hamzat Suit, Sports Uniform, and more.

10. Avoid moving in a Group

Misery is a game that requires us to collect valuable loot. If you and your teammate explore the world by staying close together, then you can never get the required items in time.

You need to spread across different areas and collect different items to take them back to the bunker. The goal should be to collect the most precious loot at the end of each expedition.

The developers have a road map planned for the next year. They are adding mod support so people can create custom content, expanding the bunker with more furniture and decoration options, and possibly adding a pet system with dogs and cats.

There’s talk of a helicopter you can assemble as a long-term goal. Character customization with different skins and new game modes, including a hardcore mode.
