Preparations

Thalaam is different from the Herald when it comes to the boss fight, but he also has three phases and shield sequences that you need to break.
Bring your favorite weapon, and make sure you upgrade your maximum health and maximum number of potions at Eris to be prepared.
Phase 1

Thalaam will start the fight with no shield, so you only need to dodge his attacks and find good openings to attack him.

The first attack that Thalaam will likely perform is when he charges toward you in a straight line. He can perform this attack multiple times, and between each dash, there is a brief delay.

You can easily dodge out of this, and this is the perfect opportunity to shoot your gun at him. When he finishes this attack, you can approach, land a few hits, and pull back.

Another attack is where Thalaam jumps and then slams into the ground, and he will do a few slams. You need to wait and let him finish this attack, and then you will have a short opening to attack.
You can, however, get greedy and land a hit between each slam, but this might cost you some health, and we don’t want that now, do we?

At some point, Thalaam will sit on the ground and begin charging a large AoE attack.
A red circle will appear around him, starting off faint and gradually becoming a deeper, more vivid red as the attack gets closer to going off.

There are two scenarios that you can deal with here:
- If you are already close to Thalaam and he starts charging, then you can spam your attacks and dodge at the last second.
- If you are far, however, it’s best to get out of the red circle and wait for the attack to finish.

Once Will takes out the first third of his health, Thalaam will retreat to the center of the arena and then charge himself to gain a purple shield with four segments.
During this section, he will perform two attacks. First, he will constantly slam the ground and send a fire circle shockwave around the arena, which you can simply dodge.

Second, he will send fire projectiles around the arena. These will be marked by red circles on the ground, so they should be easy to avoid.
The most important thing here is to keep an eye out for the barrels he will drop. You need to attack them until you get the Rapture attack prompt (backpack attack), stand behind them, aim at him, and this will take out one shield segment.

Repeat this process three more times until you deplete all four shield segments. Once you take out the entire shield, the fight will resume, and most of his attacks will gain new effects.
Phase 2

The most noticeable change to Thalaam’s attacks is when he does his charge at you. Now, it will leave a trail of fire that lasts for a brief moment. You can still easily dodge this.

When he does the slam attack, he will throw multiple fire projectiles that will cover more of the arena. For this, you just need to find a safe space where you can avoid the attack.

Thalaam gains a new attack during this phase in which he uses a fire laser beam that tracks Will.
The tracking is slow, so you can just run around and avoid it. The recovery from this attack is a good opening to land attacks on him.
The charged AoE attack remains the same with no changes. The same strategy works until you deplete another third of his health.
Phase 3

Thalaam once again will be at the center of the map, but this time, he will gain only one shield segment, and his attack will be different.
He will send a slow fireball whose landing is marked on the ground. When it lands, it will send a fire shockwave around the arena. Dodge to either side to avoid it.

After the first one or two fireballs, he will lose his shield and go back to fighting normally. He will do all the attacks we mentioned, but with the addition of the constant fireball that sends the shockwave.
Continue the fight normally, avoid and dodge his attacks and take advantage of every opening without getting greedy. When Will takes out all of his health, you will think the fight is over.

However, Thalaam is stubborn, and he will gain his shield again, this time with only three segments.
The barrels this time will drop ready for you to use the Rapture attack, so simply go for all three barrels and hit them. Don’t worry if you miss your shots, as the barrels will just keep constantly dropping down.
After landing three hits, this will cause his shield to shatter completely, and you will finally defeat him.
The Reward

After successfully defeating Thalaam, you will get two chests containing high-quality relics, alongside a new crafting material called Alabaster Candle.
And with that, we wrap up another guide for Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault. Thanks for checking it out!
