Turn on the Car Heater

Defrosting is the crucial and first step before driving the vehicle. The environment in this survival game is cold, and the car’s windows get frosty. You can’t drive the car properly if the windows are covered with ice. You can remove the frost manually or by using the heater. Open the door of the vehicle and get inside. You need to hover over the Ignition and press once to insert the key.

There’s a window heater on the right side of the dashboard with a square button. Press the blower twice to make it more powerful. Use the Scroll button to change the temperature. There’s a separate button for the rear window heater. Pressing this button allows you to heat the rear window only. Keep in mind that the heater will do nothing when the blower is off, so make sure to turn it on.

Blow the air on the window and cabin by moving the top lever to the right side. Use the bottom level to control the temperature. Move this level to the left side to enhance the heat. You can find the blower button just under the window heater. Choose to turn it on to low or high based on your preference.

Why the Heater Fails To Work

One wrong step can cause the heater to fail. Make sure to warm up the engine first, as a cold engine doesn’t generate any heat. Check if all the doors of the vehicle are closed and the blower is on. Take the top level in the right direction. I highly recommend you warm the engine first before turning on any heater lever.

Keep in mind that the heater doesn’t work quickly, as the engine heat is necessary. Putting the lever in the wrong direction pauses the cabin heat. Your character will not get any warmth from the rear window heater.

Scrape the Windows

Once you turn on the heater in the car, the process of scraping the windows process becomes fast. Move outside the car and approach the window till the hand sign appears (Scrape window). Make sure to hold down LMB and scrape down while starting from the top-most section of the window.

The scraping sound allows you to know that this technique is working. The process will take some time, so it’s best to defrost all windows.

Turn On Engine

Turning on the engine can be challenging for players who haven’t driven the car in real life. Get inside the car and press ‘Enter’ to enter the driving mode. Press once on the ignition with LMB to insert the key. You can see the light turned on in the dashboard. Make sure to pull out the choke from the left side of the wheel if the engine is too cold.

You can remove it by hitting the LMB while hovering over the choke. The car is in the neutral state once you start it and is indicated by an N on the bottom right side of the screen. Rev up by holding down the LMB on the ignition and start the engine. Push the choke back in by pressing RMB after driving for a while.

Major Car Driving Controls in My Winter Car

The car in My Winter Car is manual, meaning you need to apply the gear with your own hands. This can be a major problem for the players who drive the automatic car in real life. Press the G button to apply the next gear and B to get back to the previous gear.

  • R – Reverse
  • N – Neutral
  • 1 – 1st Gear
  • 2 – 2nd Gear
  • 3 – 3rd Gear
  • 4 – 4th Gear
  • 5 – 5th Gear

Use the ‘W’ key for the gas while the car is in reverse gear. Press the S button to go backward. You can also turn on the auto-clutch from the settings. Keep in mind that the clutch is used with ‘X’. Lift up the handbrake to drive the car.

Make sure you’re looking towards the handbrake and clicking or hitting the Spacebar. Your car must be in 1st gear if you want to go forward. Press the ‘W’ key to put the foot on the gas. Use A and D to turn left and right, respectively. I highly recommend applying the handbrake while parking the car.

Pressing the J key will let your car enter the push mode if it gets stuck. Hit the ‘L’ key to turn on the headlights and use the arrow keys to turn on the indicators. It’s best to look behind to the left and put the seatbelt after entering the driving mode. Make sure to learn all the mechanics of the vehicle to drive safely without getting into a crash.
