How To Start A Fierce Flame Quest

There are a few things that you need to do before starting the A Fierce Flame quest. The first thing is that you need to complete the Hamamatsu Incident main quest and cleanse the Hamamatsu Castle.

After that, when you first reach the Eternal Rift and interact with the Blacksmith there, when you exit the rift and go back to the real world, the A Fierce Flame quest will be added automatically to your mission list.

If you check the Eternal Rift map, you will see the quest prompt on the Blacksmith. Simply fast travel to the shrine there and speak with the Blacksmith.

When you talk to her, the Blacksmith seems to have forgotten her knowledge of blacksmithing and is suffering from a loss of memory.

She will ask you to bring her a special item that will help her upgrade her furnace. The blacksmith sends you to Lake Sanaru, and supposedly, the sacred item that she wants is located there.

Head To The Shrine At Lake Sanaru

Lake Sanaru is a region located to the southwest of Hamamatsu, so you need to make your way there. The path to this region is now accessible after you freed the Hamamatsu Castle.

As you approach this location, you will come across a shrine near a large ship on the right. Move past it and toward the Lower Crucible blocking the path.

As soon as you approach it, a few enemy waves will spawn, and you will need to defeat all of them. After you complete this task, interact with the Crucible spike to break it.

This will lead you to a broken bridge, and on the other side on top of the hill you will be able to see a shrine there. This is where you will find the item for your Blacksmith.

Climb To The Shrine

Since the bridge is broken and there is no obvious way to get there, you need to figure something out. When you approach the second bridge, you will spot a Scampuss.

Just like all other Scampuss in the game, when you pet it, she will run away. This is actually useful here.

This is because the Scampuss will show you the path you need to take to reach the top of the shrine. It will start by going to a lower path on the left and circle back to the bottom of the bridge.

From here, simply follow the Scampuss all the way until it stops moving. You need to do some platforming and some jumps, but it should be easy.

When the Scampuss stops moving, pet it to finish its quest. From here, you will see a jump to the right; make that one to get a hidden Kodama here. On the opposite side, jump and climb the rocks.

Eventually, you will reach the shrine on the top. Go inside and interact with the yellow glow there. Doing so will grant you the Kagutsuchi’s Magatama.

Complete A Fierce Flame Quest

With this item in hand, fast travel back to the Eternal Rift and head to the Blacksmith. She will be happy to receive the item, and she will use it to enhance the furnace and unlock a new technique.

As a reward for completing this quest, you will get a Samurai’s Lock, Swordsmith’s Hammer, and Smithing Text: Swordsmith’s Hammer.

This new technique is Soul Match and Soul Extract, both of which are available when you open the Blacksmith menu.

Soul Match, Explained

Nioh 3

Soul Match lets you raise the level of your current weapons and armor by using Soul Cores and money to level them up to your current level.

Unlike previous Nioh games where you needed to sacrifice the higher-level weapon to level match it, it does not work exactly like this here.

However, the Soul Match process is very expensive and uses Soul Ore materials. If you are wondering where to find them, Soul Extract is the answer.

Nioh 3

So instead of using higher-level gear to level match the weaker one, you actually Soul Extract it to get the Soul Ore you need to complete the Soul Match process.

You may be wondering why you would do such a thing and sacrifice high-level weapons, but mostly, this becomes essential to use in New Game+.

A lot of the time, you will find yourself investing a lot of time into getting used to a specific weapon, or certain gear may have really good stats and buffs, and you do not want to part with it. This helps keep your build and even enhance it.

This is why it is always a good idea to loot all gear the enemies drop or you find while exploring the open world instead of offering them to the Shrine or dismantling them.
