How To Start Abundant Evil Quest

After you complete The Hamamatsu Incident and return from the Eternal Rift, head to the upper floor of the Hamamatsu Castle, and you will find Honda Tadakatsu waiting for you on the stairs.

Speak to him, and he will ask you to meet him at Maisaka Post, which has been taken by the Yokai. This location can be found to the southwest of Hamamatsu, so make your way there.

At the entrance of the post, you will find Honda waiting for you, so approach him to get ready to free the post.

Free The Maisaka Post

Nioh 3

You need to defeat ten enemies that can be found inside the Maisaka Post. But be careful because this is a Dark Realm, and Yokai are more dangerous here. Thankfully, you have Honda on your side to help and distract enemies for you.

Defeat All Enemies

Go straight ahead from the entrance, and you will find the first Yokai; defeat him. From here, go to the left, and you will find a Gaki Chief that you need to defeat.

This is the same boss fight from the Insatiable Hunger quest but with less health, so the same strategy works here. Another Yokai will be shooting at you with a bow on the rooftop ahead; you can use your ranged attacks to kill it.

Moving on, take the stairs in front of you, and you will see another Yokai sitting near the well. This one you can actually sneak up on and backstab to deal major damage.

Be prepared. As soon as you approach to backstab this one, a big green worm will appear. And you need to kill it too.

That’s six Yokai so far. From here, head back to the main street of the village. You should see three Yokai. Defeat all of them all.

With all nine Yokai defeated, you need to defeat the source of the Dark Realm here. You can find it inside the house on the northeast of the post.

This is a Yamainu, and by now you have already fought them numerous times and know how to deal with them. Killing the Yamainu will remove the Dark Realm from Maisaka Post, and Honda will be ready to speak.

He will thank you for your help but suspect that the actual source of all these nearby Yokai invading the post and the region is coming from the Haunting Caves.

Nioh 3

You can find this cave near the bach to the southeast, and you will be able to see it marked on your map. This is where you need to make your way next.

Explore The Haunting Caves

The path from the post to the cave is pretty straightforward, as there is only one route, so follow it until you get inside the cave.

Nioh 3

Go inside the cave and interact with the first shrine. From here, follow the path down, and shortly after, you will see a bunch of Sudama gathering in fear; this means you are on the right path.

Crouch here and go through the narrow entrance. As you get out, climb up to the right, and you will be able to find a Kodama that you can rescue.

Back on the main path, keep pressing on, as there is only one path. Fight the Yokai on the way, and the path will split into two: one to the right, which is the extended path, and one to the left with greenish-looking rocks that you can climb.

Ultimately, both lead to the same destination. It only depends if you want to kill more Yokai, explore, get more Amrita, and loot, so pick whichever you prefer.

Whichever path you take, it will bring you to a second shrine near overlooking gold crystals. Climb up these rocks with crystals on them, and you should find a secret entrance to the left.

Here, you will find two Yokai; defeat them, and then crouch to enter the low passage, which will take you to a hot spring.

Back on the main path, keep progressing ahead and then turn right until you come across a boss arena. Approach it, and a cutscene will show the Yokai responsible for all of this, Hino-Enma.

Hino-enma is fast, she flies, and she can paralyze you with a single hit.

Defeat Hino-Enma

Hino-Enma Attacks

Nioh 3

Hino Enma is all about speed and status effects. Her signature move is the Paralysis Wave. You will see a purple glow and hear her let out a sharp “shout” before she fires a projectile.

If this hits you, you are paralyzed instantly and you are vulnerable for a few seconds. The trick here is to dodge sideways at the very last second; if you dodge too early, the wave tracks your movement and clips you anyway.

While she is on the ground, Hino uses her Umbrella Combos. She will either swing it like a bat or spin it in a wide circle. The spin is particularly nasty because it has a huge hitbox and can hit you multiple times if you are caught in the animation.

She also has a Triple Kick combo that ends in a somersault. This is actually one of the good openings since the recovery time after her final kick is long enough for you to get a few hits in.

When she takes flight, her attacks change. She will hover and toss Kunai or fire more paralysis waves from above. Her most dangerous aerial move is the Diving Lunge. She screams and slams down onto your position.

Nioh 3

If you time your dodge right, she will crash and stay grounded for a moment, giving you another good opening that you can use to hit her or heal.

Finally, one more attack that you need to watch for is her grab. If you see her dash toward you with her wings tucked back and arms open, the only way to avoid it is by dodging.

Nioh 3

Do not try to block or even guard it or run away as she can pursue you.

If she catches you, she will bite your neck, drain your health, and heal herself in the process, and you do not want that now do you?

Hino-Enma Strategy

Before you attempt to fight Hino Enma it is a good idea to bring with you a few Antiparalytic Needles. This is because it helps with her paralysis attacks since this neutralizes this status element.

During the fight, you will want to use medium distance or Ninja Style. This is because Hino Enma is agile, and she moves a lot, so you want to be as quick with your attacks and reflexes.

If you stay close to her, you will bait her melee kick combo that will give you a good opening. While she can use the umbrella swing sometimes, that also leaves her in a shorter opening. Just do not get greedy, otherwise Hino-Enma will punish you.

When she goes airborne, she is actually very vulnerable. If you are good with a Bow or have Kunai equipped, hitting her while she is flying will drain her Ki significantly.

Doing so will drain her Ki quite noticeably and when she runs out, she will fall and leave her vulnerable there, so do not even get scared of using any ranged attacks or Onmyo Magic elemental attacks.

When you get into the Dark Realm, that is the time to use your Living Artifact and get aggressive here. Just do not take too much damage otherwise your Living Artifact transformation will not last long.

You just need to be super careful with the paralysis attacks, bait the openings and go rogue while she is flying to get her down and deal major damage.

Complete The Abundant Evil Quest

After you defeat Hino Enma, climb up the rocks ahead and walk past the crystal path. Eventually you will encounter the group Sudama are safe now and will go back to their merchant spots.

A shrine will be in front of you so you can interact with it and then fast travel to the Maisaka Post and speak to Honda at the entrance.

He will be happy that you helped him through this whole mission and you will be rewarded with Ninja’s Locks Samurai’s Locks Prayer Beads Tombokiri Warrior of the East Helmet
