Possessor(s) is an action-packed side scroller where most of the time you will be fighting enemies. So, for that, you need more health and, of course, more heals. As the resting point in this game is very far away in some areas, it can be a pain to make progress again after dying.
So, it is necessary to increase your health and painkillers. That said, you cannot do this from the beginning, as you would need to make quite a lot of progress. In this guide, I will tell you how to increase your health and painkillers in Possessor(s).

Defeat Salvager To Increase Your Health And Painkillers In Possessor(s)

As you may already know, Cheekers can upgrade your weapons. However, he cannot increase your health or your painkillers capacity, so for that, you need another NPC, Beverly. This NPC can be unlocked later in the game after defeating Salvager, a boss.
To make progress, you will need to enter The Aquarium from the Buried Streets. However, for that, a key is required, which can be found by defeating Salvager. You can check out my walkthrough on how to get the key and unlock the NPC, Beverly, by clicking here.
Increasing Health And Heals Permanently

After you have defeated the Salvager, you can go ahead and talk to Beverly. Choose the option “Fix my stuff.” and you will see two options: one for weapons and the other for items. As you can upgrade your weapons with the help of Cheekers, you should choose the items tab.
Now, select the Painkillers Capacity and then purchase it. This will not cost any money, and your Painkiller capacity will be increased. Click on the others and see if you have enough for more upgrades. Then, select the Memory of Suffering option and purchase it. This will permanently increase your health.

Do note that you can get Painkillers Capacity and Memory of Suffering in the game, so you will need to explore a lot.
Doing these upgrades, while not necessary, is highly recommended. That is because the next bosses in the game are going to give you a pretty hard time. So it is better if you have more health and painkillers.
That is pretty much it for my guide on how to increase your health and painkillers in Possessor(s).
