Restaurats – Beginner Tips

Restaurats

Restaurats is a fun and cozy game where you’re playing as a rat, managing their own restaurant. There’s a lot more to do here than simply serving customers, and if you’re diving into the game unprepared, it can very quickly become overwhelming. Developed by toR Studio and published by Polden Publishing, Restaurats features a fun challenge for all types of players with adjustable difficulty and co-op. For more information on the game, don’t forget to visit their official Steam page here.

The following are some tips that will help you stay ahead of your friends and guide you through the challenges of managing your own restaurant as a rat. Without further wait, let’s get into it!

Don’t Overspend On Ingredients

You only have to order as much as you immediately require. Early on, you’ll get 4 to 7 customers at best, and slightly more if you’re using the customer summoner. However, ordering more ingredients comes at a crucial cost of storage space. You’d also only need two to three tables at best in the early game.

Your kitchen is quite limited early on, and if you want to be able to move freely, it’s best to only order as much as you immediately need. As you progress, you’ll unlock more dishes, and with those dishes, you may require different ingredients. Storing all of them in your tiny kitchen can be quite a challenge, especially early on.

Furthermore, you need to save up gold. Tax is going to take a big chunk away from your money, and you won’t be making much profit with just 5-6 customers. This is why spending money on ingredients that you don’t need right away can often turn out to be a waste.

Categorize Shelves Of Processed Ingredients Based On Recipes

Finding the right ingredients for a recipe can be quite challenging, especially when you’re getting frequent orders for multiple tier 3 dishes. In that case, it’s best to build shelves of entire recipes in one separate section.

Put all processed ingredients in these shelves, and when it’s time to deliver the order, you’d only have to put these ingredients together on the packaging table.

However, this practice can be quite time-consuming. At high difficulty, it’s the easiest way to manage multiple complex recipes, while making sure that your customers don’t have to wait that long.

Have One Cooking Facility Of Each Kind In The Kitchen

Buying and placing multiple cooking facilities, such as an oven or a grill, is not such a great idea. You have to pay tax for most of these facilities, and if you’ve placed more than one, the tax multiplies drastically.

Early on, or even towards mid-game, you wouldn’t need more than one of each type of cooking facility in your kitchen. This is especially useful if you’re processing ingredients before opening the restaurant for customers. Cooking facilities also take quite a lot of space, and you need space for shelves, so it’s recommended not to set up more than one.

Furthermore, if you leave an oven or grill turned on for a while, it may catch fire and ruin your kitchen. If such a case does arise, you can pour some water from a barrel and throw it on the fire to extinguish it. But you can easily avoid such scenarios by only turning on such cooking facilities when you need them, and once you’re done, you should turn them off.

Get Rid Of Imps As Soon As Possible

Imps can destroy your kitchen and can also annoy your customers, making their patience run out more quickly. You can beat these imps by picking up a baguette from the barrel inside the kitchen. The barrel has five baguattes by default, but if you’ve lost all of them, you can buy another barrel from the store.

All you have to do is go and smack the imp with the baguette. However, sometimes, the imps will open an otherworldly portal in the seating area, and they’ll keep coming after you until you close the portals.

In that case, you have to leave the imps and focus on closing the portals first. Interact with the portal and keep holding the interact button to close the portal. Once the portal is closed and no more imps are being summoned, you can easily take care of the ones that are left behind.

Their corpses will automatically disappear, or turn into dirt in some cases. But regardless, smacking them with a baguette is the way to get rid of them.

Check The Tunnels Every Day

You’ll find two treasure chests and a wheel of fortune, alongside many other things, in the tunnels below the restaurant. Both of these treasure chests contain a reward. But you’re only going to get the reward that’s inside the first chest that you’ve interacted with.

The treasure chests often reward you with outfits and cosmetic items. These items can then be used to decorate your restaurant. These items also grant you certain types of small bonuses, such as 1% reputation gain or 1% chance of customers leaving no mess at the table, which is not much, but it goes a long way if you keep playing for days.

The wheel of fortune has many outfits and emotes that you can get for free. However, the wheel of fortune and the chests can only be interacted with once every day, so be sure to check them out regularly.

Watch The Seating Arrangement

There are several different types of customers that will come to your restaurant, including ghosts, skeletons, and the like. However, not all of them get along with each other, and if you’ve made them sit next to each other at a table, they’d both lose their patience quickly.

The safest bet is to let the same type of customers sit on the same table. If you’ve got two werewolves, you can have them sit on the same table, instead of having them sit with someone they don’t like, such as a goblin. There are posters around the restaurant that show the likes and dislikes of each race.

Vampires dislike every other customer that’s not like them, so it’s best to let them sit alone or with another vampire at a table. Skeletons are the most friendly of the bunch. These likes and dislikes also apply to the VIP variants of the customers.
