Sand: Raiders of Sophie – Best Early Game Tips And Tricks

A tips and tricks guide for Sand: Raiders of Sophie.

Welcome to the Into Indie Games tips and tricks guide for the early game in Sand: Raiders of Sophie.

Sand: Raiders of Sophie allows you to build your own mobile fortress, known as the trampler, and lets you duke it out against your friends. You can either enjoy a battle royale mode or the free-to-explore voyage expedition in your adventures.

For more information, you can visit the game’s official Steam page here.

The Best Early Trampler

Without a doubt, the Grumpy Walker preset should be your go-to during your early hours in the game, before you have enough resources to customize your own trampler.

It doesn’t require that many resources to reconstruct, so even if it gets destroyed in your expeditions, you’re really not losing out on a lot of resources. Additionally, it has really balanced stats for your early game.

The Best Starting Loadout

You should definitely go with the revolver and the rifle as your primary weapons early on. The revolver covers your short to medium range, and the rifle is perfect for long-range attacks from one trampler to another.

As for the weapons on your trampler itself, you should use the 40-mm cannon on the front side for quick bursts of fire at other tramplers. Next, place the 80-mm cannon on the rear to deal heavy blows with a single hit.

Voyage Is The Mode To Play

There are currently two different modes that you can enjoy in Sand: Raiders of Sophie. Storm Dive is a battle royale mode where the survivable circle continuously shrinks. However, Voyage is the mode that you should be playing early on.

Voyage allows you to freely explore the map in the game, and this will help you obtain all the resources that you need to spice up your trampler for storm dives.

Understanding Ammo And Food

After you add ammo for your weapons into your loadout, it spawns inside the green box on the rack near the boxes that contain the trampler weapons. Now, neither your weapons nor your trampler cannons come loaded with ammo when you spawn in.

Always make sure to pick up the ammo and load all of your weapons so they’re ready to go when an encounter starts. Another important thing to note is the food—you should always start a run with some. Place the food inside the refrigerator when you spawn in so that it allows you to respawn.

Additionally, you’ll need to restock the fuel of the trampler, which you’ll find inside the same box that contains ammo and food—given that you brought some fuel in your loadout.

The Importance of Empty Boxes

Looting and scavenging for resources is really important in Sand: Raiders of Sophie. But you can only carry so much in your character’s inventory. You’ll need to make a habit of carrying a green empty box with you whenever you go out to grab loot from a destroyed trampler or an unexplored location.

You can find empty boxes inside the refrigerator of your trampler, and you’ll need to rely on these to hunt for supplies efficiently and to bring them back home successfully after a run.

Basics In Trampler Fights

Fighting other tramplers is one of the game’s core gameplay mechanics. You can target various structures with your cannon. I would always advise shooting off the legs of the opponent’s trampler to immobilize it and give you the advantage.

This will allow you to target them from wherever you want. Additionally, targeting the legs allows you to spare the captain’s crew room in case you want to seize control of the enemy trampler.

You can also use your trampler as bait. As your trampler continues to move on its own, even if you don’t pilot it, you can jump off and use it as a distraction for when things go south.

The Toolkit Is Your Best Friend

Defense should come before offense in trampler fights. As soon as your trampler gets damaged in a fight, your first reaction should be to equip the toolkit and fix the damage done.

The longer your trampler stays healthy, the longer you’ll be able to endure the battle, which ultimately increases your chances of survival and winning in an encounter.

This concludes our list of the best tips and tricks that will help you out in starting off your journey in Sand: Raiders of Sophie.
