Here are our ShoreTiles beginner tips.
ShoreTiles is a real-time strategy, cozy, city-builder roguelike that takes the classic formula of the Stronghold series to create a unique experience. Instead of building a kingdom, you will be creating a town around a lighthouse in the middle of the ocean. Of course, the horrors of the ocean are inevitable, as they will try to attack your civilization. If you’re interested, make sure to check out the game’s Steam Page.

Placing Tiles Together

One of the most important and initial tips I can provide about ShoreTiles is to set up the same tiles adjacent to each other. Doing so will increase productivity and provide you with more troops at night to fend off the terrors of the deep.
Whether it’s in militant camps or households, you should always bring them together to improve their outcomes. Additionally, joining 6 camps together near a treasure chest will allow you to get it. Don’t leave single-tile slots; make a proper plan for how to place your buildings.
Every tile adjacent to each other is useful, but combining the same buildings offers more versatility.
Divide The Troops

In ShoreTiles, as you progress through the days, the enemies will become stronger and try to surround your city from every corner. By placing the Militant Camps in the right place, you will be able to overcome them almost immediately; they won’t be able to destroy your buildings.
However, a bad placement can lead to multiple consequences, but there’s a way to mitigate the damage. After placing the camps during the day, divide your troops throughout the entire city to keep an eye on the corners. It depends on how big your city is, so keep your total troop count in mind, then place them everywhere.
With every new monster unlocked, you will have to keep your eyes peeled. Additionally, place a small amount of troops near the lighthouses, as some monsters will ignore all buildings and attack them instead.
Use Dynamite Wisely

As you progress through the game, you will eventually unlock dynamite. Since you must put buildings in during the day, undoing them at night or even the next day is impossible. However, to counter this, you will unlock dynamite in the first ten days of ShoreTiles.
Dynamite can be used to blow up your buildings and make space for others if you have placed them incorrectly. Since they’re also bought from the merchant, you must allocate your available resources first and then make a proper plan to create space for another building (placing the same tiles next to each other is always useful).
Overcoming Being Outnumbered

In the latter days of ShoreTiles, you will eventually be outnumbered by numerous ocean monsters. Additionally, powerful monsters with unique properties will be unlocked as you progress through the game. Still, you can overcome this awful situation by strategizing correctly.
Balance your Militant camps along with the houses. Since multiple houses and farms will provide you with coins, use them to buy more camps and place them near them. Now, with the right amount of troops, you can divide them throughout the city and guard it from everywhere.
Additionally, never think your troops are invulnerable. They’ll die fighting the monsters, and to replace them, more camps are required. So, take the investment from the houses, then use the coins to buy more camps. This simple yet crucial gameplay loop isn’t explained in the tutorial, so make sure to use this tip properly if you’re planning to do a long run.
The Roads

Roads are one of the many tiles you will find in ShoreTiles, which can be placed adjacent to any block in the game. They’re used to increase your troops’ speed, allowing them to deter enemies faster than they usually do. However, if you don’t place them adjacent to each other, then they’re useless.
Whenever you get a road, place it next to the other roads to form a concrete path for your troops to follow. Since they’re given randomly, it might be a bit confusing to allocate their place beforehand, but as you gain the know-how, you will be able to do it efficiently.
