StarRupture is an open-world first-person base-building game where you explore a vast island and even fight various monsters along the way. There is going to be a lot of exploration, and you won’t be limited to just one base. Since the world is vast, you will have to build several bases for your own convenience as you progress through the game. For more information about the game, you can head over to its Steam page.
This game isn’t easy at all, and things can become very complicated as you progress further. However, one of the main problems you will face initially is food. You won’t have steady and reliable access to food at the start. This can be troublesome since you need food to survive. So, in this guide, I will explain how you can get access to food quickly in StarRupture.

Your Rations Will Get You Going For A While

You may miss the rations you are given by the game initially, as that is something that can easily happen. When you start the game, you are inside a habitat. There are several machines inside, and if you don’t check them out, you won’t get your rations. This is because, in one of the machines, specifically the storage unit, you will find some rations available for you to take.
Those rations can keep you going for quite a while, so it is important that you grab them early on. The biggest problem in this game is going to be dehydration. So, keep an eye on your hydration level, and eating one of the rations will help you deal with that problem for some time.
However, they may not last very long, so you will need a proper and sustainable food supply, which I will explain exactly how you can obtain next.
How To Get A Proper Food Supply In StarRupture

Getting a food supply wasn’t that complicated in the playtest, but now it is. You will have to look around for a bit to find it. I will tell you exactly what you need to do to get one set up properly. Since food is directly related to your health, you need to head over to Future Health Insurance in the OCL and reach level six in that category.
Build A Solid Setup To Complete Commissions Quickly

This will take some time, so get ready to unlock many different things to achieve your goal. Your setup should include at least six OCLs, two smelters, and two ore excavators. You will also need access to two Fabricators, which can be unlocked by reaching level two at the Selenian Corporation. This isn’t going to be tough, as you will only need 200 points to level up.
How To Unlock The Food Station

That said, reaching further levels in any of the corporations can take some time, as you need to earn a lot of points. However, once you have set up everything, start a commission for Future Health Insurance, and once you are done, you will unlock the food station.
You will have to reach level six to unlock that, which is going to be a real drag. That said, if you use six OCLs for the same comission it won’t take that much time. Also, unlock all of the materials that give you more points, such as Titanium and Wolfarm Plates. Once you have reached level six, the Food Station will be unlocked.
Build a food station inside your habitat, and then you can look up some recipes. To unlock and make the recipes, you will need to explore the planet a little bit. This won’t take as much time as you might think, but it can still be a bit of a drag. Also, note that to unlock some of the recipes, you will need data points. In this game, data points can be obtained by analyzing certain items.
What If You Run Out Of The Rations Early?

That said, if you have already run out of food and are still far from building the food station, it is going to be a problem. Since the main issue at this stage is dehydration, you can use an alternative before your food station is ready. At the edge of the pond, you will notice a plant. You can obtain Hydrobulb from it, and it can be used to hydrate your character.
However, I won’t recommend overusing it, as it may have some side effects if consumed too frequently.
What Happens If You Don’t Eat Food For A While In StarRupture?

In this game, if you don’t eat food and your hydration keeps dropping, your character is going to die. If you have not set up a regeneration chamber in your habitat, you will respawn in the initial one. While this isn’t going to be too much of a setback, you will lose 90 percent of your health, which is definitely going to be a problem.
Even with rations, you don’t regain a lot of health points, and if you have already run out of them, you will need to hurry and set up a reliable source of food. For that, be quick and complete the commissions to unlock the food stations. Once done, explore the world to make some food and unlock more recipes.
Explore The Abandoned Outposts For More Food

There are some abandoned outposts in the open world of StarRupture that you can explore to get food. These can be explored early in the game, but you will need a weapon for protection. So far, I have found two outposts from previous expeditions, and they were full of important materials and food.
Make sure to follow the second part of my StarRupture walkthrough so you can find both of these outposts without any issues. Exploring both is very useful, as not only will you get a lot of food, but you will also find some of the necessary story items. Visiting them early in the game is better, in my opinion.
That is pretty much everything you need to know about how to get access to Food early in StarRupture. While it may seem like an easy task, you need to be really efficient.
