StarRupture – Ultimate Tips And Tricks Guide For Beginners

StarRupture Art

StarRupture is a first-person open-world base builder with advanced combat. The game features tons of exploration, and you are rewarded for exploring the island. The scope of this game is huge, and there is just too much to do. For more information regarding the game, head over to its Steam page.

While it is a pretty solid title, there are some challenges you may face. Like any base builder, this game features complications that can leave you confused and frustrated. So, to make your experience better, I will tell you some of my advanced tips and tricks in StarRupture. This way, you will not make mistakes and have a solid start.

Disclaimer

This tips and tricks guide for StarRupture is based on my playthrough and things I found helpful to focus on early in the game. If some tips in StarRupture, like “Don’t Completely Rely on the Machines”, don’t sit right with you, you don’t have to follow them in your playthrough. Play however you’re most comfortable.

Grab The Rations For Survival

Grabbing the rations may seem like one of the simplest tips in StarRupture, but believe me, this is important. Unlike in the playtest, you will not be able to unlock the Food Station at level three of Future Health Insurance. You will need to reach level six, which can take some time, so you will definitely need the rations for your survival.

They can be obtained in the habitat you spawn in at the start of the game. Check both storage containers, and you will get 20 of them. They will get you through the first few hours of the game with no worries. That said, if you run out of rations before you have unlocked the Food Station, then you can rely on food found on the planet, like Hydrobulb and Polifruit.

The rations are quite easy to miss, as you may not even think to check the storage early on. Dehydration is the biggest problem in this game, and if your character reaches the final stage of it, the health bar will start dropping constantly.

Your Base Doesn’t Have To Look Good

Keep in mind that the looks of your base absolutely do not matter in this game, so that should be the least of your concerns. If the railings are not aligned, do not worry, as you just need to get your work done. I am not against good-looking bases, but if having a good-looking base means the workflow is poor, then you must focus on the latter.

If you can build a good-looking base without interrupting the workflow, then that is perfectly fine. While I do think you need to focus more on efficiency, make sure your base is at least optimized. Your solar energy machines should be placed together, and the base should be built on platforms, not directly on the ground.

Don’t Completely Rely On The Machines

The futuristic machines make your life much easier in StarRupture. However, do not completely rely on them. While they are really helpful, you can speed up the process even more with a simpler approach. You do not have to complicate the game too much by using rail connectors everywhere and trying to be perfect with everything.

For example, if you have five OCLs and four of them are connected to the fabricator or the smelter through rail connectors, you do not have to figure out a way to attach a rail to the fifth one. You can simply take the materials you need from a machine and put them inside the OCL manually. This really does not take much time at all.

Another example is when you have reached level three for all of the organizations, as things will start to get a little complicated. That is when even having five OCLs may seem like too few. However, that is not the case. Your titanium setup and Wolfarm Excavator are likely to be far away from each other.

Because of this, you will probably have smelters and fabricators at different locations. You can set up the OCLs for the same organization and manually move the materials to the second location. You can put the titanium items directly into the fabricator and smelter on the other side. This approach can boost your progress quite a lot.

Do Not Explore Too Much Without A Weapon

A weapon is a must-have if you want to explore the planet, as monsters can appear out of nowhere and attack you. Getting attacked by them can be lethal, which is why having a weapon is extremely important. You can unlock a weapon by leveling up in the Griffith Blue Corporation.

That said, you will need to reach level two in order to unlock your first weapon. This can be done by completing commissions in the OCL, and to boost the process, you can set up multiple OCLs and select the same commission on each of them. Reaching level two will not be difficult, as you only need 200 points.

Your weapon will automatically be equipped by your character, but you will still need to make bullets. Bullets can be crafted using the Basic Item Printer. From there, you can use Basic Building Materials to create ammunition. After that, feel free to explore the planet and defeat any enemies that come your way.

Make Sure You Set Up The Comissions Before Exploring

Exploration in this game is rewarding, as you can obtain many new materials. That said, you should start exploring only after you have acquired a gun. Since exploration can take some time, you should always set up some commissions before heading out.

Completing commissions in this game can take a lot of time, as sending out packages through the OCL is a slow process. Because of this, before you leave your base, you should set up commissions so you can make full use of your time while exploring.

If you have pending commissions that require 6,400 points, make sure to assign them to different OCLs to speed up the process even further. You can then return to your base to check if a commission has been completed, assign a new one, and continue exploring without wasting time.

Your Harvester Can Be Used As A Weapon

Harvester StarRupture
While using the Harvester as a weapon can be counted among good tips, I don’t recommend using it unless really necessary.

The Harvester you use to collect ores can technically be used as a weapon. However, I do not recommend using it against monsters, as it does very little damage. This is because it is designed for harvesting ores, not for fighting enemies. The reason it is worth mentioning is that if you ever run out of bullets while fighting enemies, you can use the Harvester to clear out the remaining ones.

I would not suggest using it as a weapon unless you completely run out of ammo. Still, if you are planning to explore, make sure you carry at least 100 rounds so you do not have to rely on the Harvester in combat.

Grab Everything You See During Exploration

As I mentioned before, exploration in this game is rewarding, so you should pick up almost everything you come across. However, make sure that when you head out to explore the planet, your inventory is nearly empty. You should not carry anything except your food and bullets.

One of the most important tips while exploring the planet in StarRupture is to look for orange lights. Orange usually means good loot, so whenever you see something glowing orange, head toward it. These spots often contain Rubble Piles, which usually hold very useful items. You can also find dead bodies of those who came before you and drone wrecks, with the former generally containing more items than the latter.

Unlock Different Materials To Boost Your Commissions

Recipe Station StarRupture

You have to choose between two commissions in the OCL, so always select the one that gives you more points. If you do not have the required material, I highly recommend unlocking it, as this will speed up the process significantly. For example, if you are given a choice between Titanium Plates and Titanium Rods, choosing the plates can boost your progress threefold.

To unlock these materials, you first need to unlock the Recipe Station, which requires reaching level two in the Moon Energy Corporation. This is not difficult, so once you have unlocked it, set it up inside your habitat. After that, look up the material you want to unlock and insert the required items.

For Titanium Plates, you will need to insert Datapoints and 600 bars. This process does not take very long, as Smelters are extremely fast. If you have at least four Smelters, it will go even quicker.

Be sure to look out for different recipes and collect the materials needed to unlock them, as this will give you a major advantage in the game.

Explore The Planet After The Star Rupture

Ignitium StarRupture
One of the major tips in StarRupture is to explore the ruins after the massive explosion.

As you play the game, a certain event known as Star Rupture will occur. This is a massive explosion that affects the entire planet, but it will not damage your machines. That said, if you are not inside your habitat when the star explodes, your character will die instantly.

Once you have survived the explosion and the planet’s temperature has returned to normal, start exploring immediately. Some materials, like Ignitium, are only available for a short period after the rupture, so you need to collect them quickly.

Additionally, after the rupture, more meteors and materials will be available for harvesting. Another important point is that if you begin exploring before the planet’s temperature fully stabilizes, you can explore the ruins freely without worrying about monsters. They will not come out for a while, giving you a safe window to gather resources.

Explore The Abandoned Outposts Early

You don’t just need to build in this game; you also need to survive. For that, you will need proper access to food. The food station unlocks at level six of Future Health Solutions, so your rations may not be enough to survive until you unlock it. While you can collect Polifruit and Hydrobulb and use them as an alternative, there is something even better you can do.

Some outposts have been abandoned. They were left empty because previous expeditions were wiped out by monsters, so all their items and supplies can still be found there. I have managed to find two of these outposts so far, and you can locate both of them by reading my part two walkthrough of StarRupture.

You will get a lot of food from the outposts, but that is not even the best part. There will also be several LEMs, which are basically upgrades for your character. Furthermore, you will find blueprints that will be necessary to progress further in the game. They may not be needed right away, but they will be essential in the mid-game, so make sure to collect them.

Be aware that there will be many monsters at these outposts, so make sure you go there with plenty of bullets. You should also clean up your inventory before visiting, as there will be too many items to collect, so you will want all the space you need.

Don’t Waste Your Data Points

Data StarRupture

You can use your Datapoints to help you level up in all of the corporations. However, I do not recommend doing that. Getting Datapoints can be quite difficult, as you need to do a lot of exploration to gather the required materials. Also, avoid using your Meteor Hearts to get Datapoints.

Datapoints are essential for unlocking various recipes and materials, so spending them on leveling can be a waste. Make sure to save them and use them in the Recipe Station instead. That is pretty much all for my beginner’s tips and tricks guide in StarRupture.
