The World of Vahrin
Welcome to our starter guide to Forsaken Realms: Vahrin’s Call.
Forsaken Realms: Vahrin’s Call eschews any attempt at matching other large-scale open world RPGs in terms of size. On the contrary, the game is all about carefully crafted exploration, meaningful progression, and providing the player full control of their character’s fighting style through complete freedom of choice. No pre-established classes in Forsaken Realms – only your own character, crafted using the skills you love.
Even though the game borrows a lot of elements from games such as Fable or The Elder Scrolls, there are enough novel concepts in Forsaken Realms to make it unique. Every region is ripe for exploration, every fight can be played with your own build, and there is always something interesting to discover in each zone.
This guide covers everything a new player needs to know about the game before starting his adventure, from selecting the first weapon to mechanics and long-term character development.

Discovering the World
The action unfolds in Leyda, a fictional world ravaged by war. Your quest will be undertaken in the once-great city of Vahrin, a place which has been repeatedly besieged by monsters, demons, and abominations. Where there was once an army defending the kingdom, now all that remains are various groups trying to hold on to civilisation. Understanding that the remaining forces of the city cannot hold back the coming dangers, the Queen of Vahrin, sends out a call to arms, providing opportunities of wealth to anyone who dares answer the Vahrin’s Call.
And you are that mercenary.

Where most protagonists of role-playing games are predestined to be great since their birth, you start out as an unremarkable wanderer searching for work. Neither chosen one, nor great warrior, just another sellsword living his life. Starting as such allows your development to become much more rewarding, allowing you to grow from a regular adventurer into one of the greatest warriors in the world.
What Sort of RPG Is This?
It is first necessary to clarify exactly what sort of game Vahrin’s Call is.
Expect
- Specifically crafted environments
- Progression through exploration
- Variety in combat design
- Building customization
- Environmental storytelling
- Optionally difficult bosses
- Many hidden puzzles
- Many pieces of gear to find
Don’t Expect
- Exploring an enormous world
- Branching dialogue
- Morality systems
- Varied endings
- Complex relationships with non-player characters
- Systems of companionship
- Creating political change

The plot of the game follows a generally linear structure. While there will be many side quests and optional objectives, the primary storyline itself follows a specific route without branching dialogues affecting events much.
Unlike many games which focus on roleplaying decisions, this one puts the player in control of their gameplay experience.
There Are No Classes
Maybe the most defining aspect of the game is how it totally shuns RPG classes.
There are no questions whether you would like to be:
- Warrior
- Mage
- Rogue
- Archer
- Paladin
But rather…You are what you decide to play with.

In one battle, you can use:
- Greatsword
- Fire magic
In another:
- Bow
- Ice magic
Then in yet another:
- Sword and shield
- Healing magic
- Alchemy
- Traps
You can even use all those systems at once. All of that creates the basis of the whole progression system.
Mechanics of Progression
Most RPGs require the player to spend attribute points on Strength, Dexterity, or Intelligence. Vahrin’s Call follows an alternate path.
There are three interrelated aspects of progression.

Character Leveling
Quests, enemies, and exploration give you experience.
Each level provides the player with:
- Skill points
- More power
- Further upgrades
It is the most traditional part of progression.
Specialities
Each fighting style has its own speciality.
Some of which are:
- Greatswords
- Sword and Shield
- Dual Wielding
- Hammers
- Bow
- Fire Magic
- Ice Magic
- Earth Magic
- Alteration Magic
- Alchemy
- Traps
- Armor
Specialities gain with practice. Attack using bows, proficiency of bows increases. Use fire magic, proficiency of fire increases. Create potions, Alchemy proficiency increases. It’s “practice makes perfect” principle similar to Elder Scrolls games of old.
Skill Books
Now we start seeing how things get really interesting. Leveling up isn’t going to cut it. Lots of abilities require you to find their respective Skill Books located around the world. Once you have found the Skill Book, the ability will be unlocked. Then, it’s time for you to use your accumulated skill points to unlock it.
In other words, exploration plays a role in your character’s strength. There are some players who just race through the main storyline without realizing that they’re missing out on:
- Weapon combinations
- Bonus perks
- New attacks
- Strong combat abilities
- Utility abilities
Exploration isn’t just rewarding—it directly expands your build options.
Exploration Matters
Unlike most RPGs that have hidden treasure yielding only more gold, exploration in Vahrin’s Call helps improve your character. Exploring away from the beaten track always yields:
- Skill Books
- Spells
- Bigger, better weapons
- Armor improvements
- Crafting materials
- Talismans
- Hidden bosses
- Side missions
- Lore
- Hidden puzzles

Nearly every hidden location yields some sort of useful information. This leads to a feeling of being rewarded for one’s curiosity. The game world always rewards those players who explore further than what their mission tells them to.
Respecting your build
The ability to respec your character whenever needed is one of the most appealing aspects of Forsaken Realms: Vahrin’s Call. Spent all your points in the wrong way in the skill tree? You can easily fix it!
Feeling like your current weapon does not work for you anymore? Feel free to pick another one.

Resetting your specialty, deleting skills, and redistributing points to change your build completely is possible here. Even more, doing it will be free of charge!
The possibility of respecing your build makes every piece of equipment interesting for you to use. The fact of getting a legendary hammer will not pass for granted if you are stuck with your sword forever, but it will be a good motivation to experiment with a new type of build. It works the same way with spells, bows, and other weapons you can get during the game.
You can become a mage or even switch to melee from the ranger build after hundreds of hours of the game!
Early Beginner Tips
In your first few hours, try not to specialize yourself prematurely.
Rather, you should:
- Play with all kinds of weapons.
- Cast all kinds of spells that you learn.
- Test out various armor weights.
- Test out shields.
- Shoot with a bow a lot.
- Craft some potions.
- Learn a variety of specialties.
This way, you get more acquainted with all systems in order to make an informed choice of the combat style you like best. Since respeccing is free, there’s no point in worrying about this. These hours must be used solely for finding out what style suits you best.

Combat
Combat in Forsaken Realms: Vahrin’s Call is something in-between classic action RPG and a more lenient Soulslike game. The player will find themselves performing deliberate actions rather than hacking and slashing, yet the gameplay won’t be nearly as difficult as games such as Dark Souls. Rather than needing to rely on flawless reflexes, success in Vahrin’s Call involves understanding enemy moves, positioning and utilizing one’s evolving arsenal intelligently.
Where many RPGs allow for a player to go from start to finish with just one kind of weapon, Vahrin’s Call requires lots of experimenting. Each category of weapons features special features, skills and progression tree, which means that the player might want to switch his/her style several times over the course of the game.
Combat in Vahrin’s Call provides great freedom, but this freedom can actually make it difficult to know where to start. Although any type of weapon can get the job done, some types are more lenient during the early stages of the game. Understanding how each combat style works will definitely make the first playthrough easier.

One menu that is often overlooked by new players is the Information menu.
This menu acts as a sort of game encyclopedia and describes many mechanics in detail that are not clear from actual gameplay.
Examples are:
- Blocking Mechanics
- Status Effects
- Combat Mechanics
- General Game Information
If you are ever unsure about the mechanics behind something in the game, you can find the answers here without even leaving the game itself.
Getting to Know Your Core Stats
There are three main resources your character is built around.
Health
Health affects how much damage you can take before dying. While getting more levels makes you more efficient overall, increased survivability is achieved through:
- Passive skills
- Equipment bonuses
- Talismans
- Armor upgrades
Stamina
Stamina works differently from what most players think. It is not depleted by:
- Sprinting
- Regular strikes with your weapons
Instead, stamina is saved for powerful actions:
- Dodging
- Blocking
- Skills of your weapon
- Heavy strikes
This is a good approach since it allows you to be aggressive instead of having to save stamina just to attack.
If you are bad at managing stamina, you will not have any for dodging the next hit, as you will deplete it by using your weapon abilities. You should always have some left.
Focus
Focus is your magical resource. Any spells require Focus, which makes proper resource management really important when you are building around magic.
Always Carry a Bow in Your Build
One tip that seems to apply to almost every build is the necessity of carrying a bow as your secondary weapon.
Without even spending any points on the Bow specialization skill, ranged attacks remain highly useful for the early chapters. With a bow, you will be able to hit enemies from the safe range, weaken strong enemies before reaching their location, and handle airborne enemies in a much more convenient way compared to using only melee weapons.
Players who prefer using only heavy melee weapons, such as great hammers or great axes, might find themselves having difficulties when approaching an enemy or boss who is fast. However, the problem can easily be solved with a bow, which provides you with a good alternative attack range when melee becomes inappropriate.

What is the best thing about bows? They use regular arrows, which are not limited. No special crafting and buying of ammunition required.
Explosive traps activate immediately after getting hit by anything.
Using melee weapons usually means that you have entered the area of explosion yourself.
With a bow you can:
- Activate traps at a safe distance
- Deal damage to your enemies even if they get caught in the explosion
- Avoid self-damage
This is an obvious effect, but very helpful in many situations.
Perfect Shots Mastery
The power of the bow is in its timing feature.
While drawing an arrow, the aiming reticle will momentarily glow. Using the arrow in that period will grant the Perfect Shot which will give extra damage to the attack. That works also with special arrows, such as Bleed Arrows. The perfect use of the special arrow will increase both damage from the arrow hit and damage over time.
The more points you put into the Bow skill tree, the more upgrades you will get for that mechanic which will slightly increase the timing window. It will greatly help in ranged combat.
Special Arrows
Special arrows operate uniquely from ordinary arrows. Unlike ordinary arrows, special arrows don’t make use of physical arrows but instead utilize an ammunition pool that is continually replenished with time. After depleting the ammunition pool, it would require some cooldown period before using the arrows again.
Since all special arrows depend on the same ammunition pool, it is advisable to choose wisely the appropriate special arrow for the encounter.
Sword & Shield
The traditional fighter configuration.
Pros are:
- Safe defense
- Great survivability
- Simple move set
- Suitable against nearly all enemies
Deflecting lets you safely take hits, and successful parries will temporarily stun enemies and make them vulnerable to a deadly attack. While novice players prefer shields, experienced gamers can use dodging more frequently since it is more mobile. However, Sword & Shield is still among the safest configurations at the very beginning of the game.
Blocking is about more than just mitigating damage from attacks. Blocking successfully drains stamina, but shields with better Block Rating drain less stamina per block, thus enabling you to withstand more hits by your enemy without running out of stamina. Enhancing your shield results in improved Block Rating, and thus better defensive capabilities as you progress through the game.
Apart from blocking, there’s also a concept of Perfect Block in Vahrin’s Call.
Timing your block properly will negate the majority of pressure coming from an enemy attack, and provide you with openings for counterattacks. Timing window is narrow at first, but some weapons have skills that extend it slightly. It’s worth noting that the shield doesn’t improve your ability to perform Perfect Blocks—it just decreases stamina cost while blocking.
One-Handed Weapons
There are three basic kinds of one-handed weapons in this game:
- Swords
- Axes
- Maces
These may seem to be very different at first glance, but weapons of the same equipment tier are pretty much the same in terms of their effectiveness. For instance, the basic statistics of such weapons as a Leather Grip Sword, Leather Grip Axe, and Leather Grip Mace are identical – that is, they have equal base damage, attack speed, and attack animations.
The main difference between these types of weapons is in the kind of damage they can cause:
- Swords do Slash Damage
- Axes do Slash Damage
- Maces do Crush Damage
Although there might be some enemies who have resistance to slash or crush damage, the difference is not that big at the early stage of the game.
Dual Wield vs. Sword and Shield
For players who enjoy playing aggressively and fighting up close, dual wield is the best choice in terms of maximum damage from the one-handed weapons set. Using two weapons gives you an advantage of doing more damage, even though each particular weapon does slightly less damage than when using only one. With higher specialization in Dual Wield, this disadvantage becomes negligible, and the build scales nicely into the late game stages. The downside is defense.
Dual wielding takes away the possibility to block, leaving you with little chance to block attacks and relying mostly on dodging. Sword and shield set decreases damage somewhat but gives much better survivability.
Use of dual one-handed weapons raises your ability to attack.
But:
- Damage is not doubled.
- There is damage reduction for each individual weapon.
- Total damage is greater than damage from a single weapon.
- Better results will be achieved with increased Dual Wield skill level.
Greatswords
The greatsword finds a very good balance between speed and strength. It provides:
- Broad sweep range
- Solid crowd control
- Tough damage
- Serious special moves
Greatswords are the go-to choice for many players since they do exceptionally well in almost all scenarios. There are some special greatsword moves that can help you:
- Throw enemies back
- Prevent attacks
- Manage crowds
- Gain breathing space
Surprisingly, despite their size, greatswords are very agile.
Great Axes & War Hammers
For sheer brute strength, look no further.
Strengths are:
- Potent staggering
- Deals heavy area damage
- Highly effective vs armor
- Lots of burst damage
Special moves target multiple enemies at once, great for crowd control. Drawbacks? Slow animations.
Poor timing means easy targets for the enemy. But patience pays off.
Dodging vs Blocking
Both styles work well. The real issue isn’t about which is better. Which one suits your build more?
Block
Works well for:
- Shielders
- Defenders
- Smaller enemies groups
Dodge
Superior in many aspects. Its pros include:
- No damage at all
- Keeping the pressure up
- Superior positioning
- Faster flow of the fight
Many players end up using dodge rolls most of the time. In this game, fights are based on going through the attacks, not constantly running away from them. Dodging into attack puts you behind the opponent, giving great possibilities for counterattacks.
Armor Weight
Armor does not consist solely of protection. It is also responsible for mobility. There are two main types of armor.
Standard Armor
Gives:
- More speed to dodge
- Higher mobility
- More rolling
Suitable for:
- Mages
- Archers
- Melee builds
Heavy Armor
Gives:
- Better protection
- More survivability
But, using too many heavy items reduces the length of your dodge to simple side-step movement. Although functional, it becomes more difficult to escape from attacks. Fortunately, developing skills for Armor will improve your dodging no matter how much weight you are wearing.
Encumbrance
Weight of your equipment determines if you get encumbered. If you exceed the limit, it will be more difficult for you to:
- Run
- Jump
- Move effectively
Understanding Magic
Magic gives an additional ranged option, although it works quite differently from archery.
Compared to bows:
- Spells use Focus.
- Spells have short ranges.
- Resource management is important.
The range of each spell is specified by a number in the Abilities menu. While these numbers might not make sense at first, it is good to know what they mean.
Depending on your playstyle, range matters. Early ranged spells like Icy Spear have the range of about 2,500. It can be considered a useful starting point.
In general terms:
- With the range of about 2,500, the spell can already allow enemies to notice you.
- If you have more range, you can attack when enemies do not attack yet.
- If you have shorter range, you get into the area where enemies are going to attack you right away.
Enemy detection ranges differ, so these numbers should be used as a guideline, not as a strict rule. Trying out different spells will help you understand their actual ranges.
Magic is a potent tool. However, every spell incurs an opportunity cost.
Casting repeatedly:
- Decreases speed
- Locks your animations
- Makes you vulnerable
Never cast just because you can. Wait for safe opportunities to do so. An opportune casting is always more effective than three rushed ones.
Four schools of magic
Magic is not just an auxiliary system. It is one of the most powerful components of combat. Every school has its own battlefield role.
School of fire magic
Fire is aggressive by nature. Abilities include:
- Burning projectiles
- Explosive attacks
- Enchanting weapons
- Area damage
Burning targets continue to sustain damage for a time after being struck, making Fire effective against tanky targets.
School of ice magic
Ice is all about battlefield control. Spells are characterized by:
- Slower targets
- Limiting mobility
- Creating safe openings
Many players depend on Ice spells, as slow dangerous enemies significantly lessen incoming pressure.
School of earth magic
Earth is dedicated to durability and crowd control. Expect:
- Rocks projectiles
- Defensive barriers
- Area denial
- Damage dealing from heavy spells
Some of the Earth spells are especially useful in controlling crowds, instead of doing massive damage.
School of alteration magic
One of the most versatile schools. It has such abilities like:
• Healing
• Petrification
• Transmogrification
• Utility spells
Healing is going to become one of the most important spells in the game for you.
Spell Upgrading
Spells do not upgrade automatically. To upgrade them, you will require:
- Magic Essence
- Money
- Enough skill in that particular branch of magic
It provides yet another reason for using your preferred spell types. The more often you use them, the better they get.
Equipment, Crafting and Character Development
Once you reach the first few regions, you will be gathering more items than you would need to actually use.
Weapons, armor, crafting supplies, magic essences, talismans, components, and upgrade materials will soon occupy all your free slots. While initially it might seem like too many systems, there is an organic link between each and every one of them.
Explore → Get Better Equipment → Upgrade It → Learn New Skills → Explore Again.

Understanding how these systems interact will make your journey much smoother.
Equipment Slots
The weapons are not the only items that your mercenary can equip. The equipment of your mercenary includes:
- Head
- Chest
- Arms
- Legs
- Feet
- Two weapon slots
- Three Talisman slots
In contrast to many other RPGs, every equipment slot is important to your efficiency.
Improvement in Armor
Armor isn’t just about making your character more defensive. The new pieces of armor usually increase:
- Survival chances
- Resistances
- Armor weight
- Dodge effectiveness
It’s one of the pleasant surprises of the game to see how well-crafted equipment looks. Almost all of the pieces of new armor make you feel thrilled by their design, and many armor sets offer interesting fantasy-themed designs. Fashion and function sometimes complement each other.
Do You Need to Upgrade Armor? Yes.
Actually, you should invest more in armor rather than upgrade weapons. Weapons become old very quickly.
You will always find better swords, bows, and other weapon types during the exploration. Armor, on the other hand, lasts much longer. Upgrading armor is usually a more productive way to spend your resources.
Equipment Upgrade
At some point, you will be able to gain access to the blacksmith. There you will be able to upgrade:
- Weapons
- Armor
Equipment upgrade involves:
- Coin
- Crafting material
- Other resources that you will gather during your exploration process
Upgrading to higher levels greatly enhances performance. But, upgrading all equipment to the highest level is very costly. And you will lack resources when they try to upgrade everything. Choose wisely. Another mistake that you might make is that you treat every newly obtained weapon as you permanent possession.
While in fact:
- Play with these weapons.
- See how good they are.
- And decide whether you like them.
- Then start to spend resources on their upgrades.
Because, most likely you will find better things an hour later.
Dismantling Equipment
Your old equipment is not useless. They can be dismantled for further crafting material. So do not sell everything but dismantle equipment that you will never need again.
Status Effects in Combat
There is a whole other layer of combat when the player begins encountering status effects. This applies to both the player and enemies. Some of the critical status effects include:
- Burn
- Bleeding
- Poison
- Slow
- Petrification
Players who overlook the effects of status ailments will soon be dead. Knowing about the enemies that use status effects and how to counteract them is essential.
Alchemy
Alchemy starts out easy. Gather ingredients. Mix ingredients together. Create potions.
The system gets much more complicated as your skill in Alchemy grows. As your Alchemy skill gets better, each potion you create is able to have multiple effects. Finally, you can create powerful potions that do any number of things including:
- Healing
- Status effect removal
- Application of status effects
- Battle bonuses
One thing that is particularly neat about the game is that players are allowed to customize their potions. They can customize:
- Potion names
- Potion colors
- Potion icons
While this may not seem important, it makes dealing with a huge amount of potions much easier.
Unlike most RPGs, where you end up carrying around dozens of identical healing potions, Vahrin’s Call uses a charge system for all of its potions.
- The potions have charges that they use in common.
- These charges automatically regenerate.
- Players can increase their capacity for charges.
- They can also increase how fast charges regenerate.
Trap Crafting
Trap crafting would be one of the least-explored systems by most beginners out there. This is not to say that it isn’t powerful. It is far from weak.
A skilled user of traps can:
- Make ambushes
- Control the movements of enemies
- Debilitate strong groups
- Help ranged builds
With the use of stealth, traps will be very useful before tough confrontations.
Inventory Management
There’s one quality of life aspect that gets some attention. There is no maximum carrying capacity.
You can obtain basically anything. Weapons. Armor. Ingredients. Resources. Treasures. Crafting ingredients.
If you are a hoarder in RPGs, you will feel quite comfortable. Almost every item in the game is able to be looted.
Thankfully, lootable items glow in-game, helping you identify them. Also, you can adjust the color of the glowing effect. It might not seem very important, but dozens of hours into the game, such a tiny aspect comes in handy.
Gather all resources. Even the useless ones. The late-game improvements require much more loot than you think.
Exploration
Despite the praise of Forsaken Realms: Vahrin’s Call for its versatile combat, exploration might be considered its biggest asset. Unlike contemporary RPGs that saturate you with huge open worlds full of repetitive tasks, Vahrin’s Call makes a different choice. Everything has been created manually and thus invites closer examination instead of blind map grinding. There will be no waste of time in this game; every single path, building, cave, and forgotten corner of the map will have something to offer. If you choose to move around according to quest markers only, you will finish the story. If you explore everything thoroughly, you will find the best game content.
Don’t Rush to Vahrin
It’s ironic that even though the city is the setting, that’s not necessarily where your journey will begin. You’ll spend some time in the wilderness areas around Vahrin before arriving at your destination. These initial areas do several things:
- Teach combat mechanics
- Teach crafting
- Grow your build
- Award exploration points
- Prepare you for future battles
Your Map is More Helpful Than You Think
Each location has its own wonderful map. Contrary to many other RPG maps which show only outlines of the land, these maps have sufficient details for discerning players to find hidden routes and places of interest. Learn to read them attentively. Look for:
- Mysterious cliffs
- Single buildings
- Dead end roads
- Secret valleys
Much will be revealed to you once you learn to understand the map. Going off the beaten track is extremely profitable because there are places with useful equipment, powerful books for skills, optional spells, rare crafting ingredients, additional Coin, and some secret bosses from whom you can obtain unique pieces of gear that cannot be found anywhere else.
Information is often conveyed by the game developers without conversation.
They include:
- Bloody traces
- Destroyed structures
- Weird signs
- Crumbled statues
- Mysterious lighting
- Bizarre placements of objects
Such elements usually indicate:
- Secret treasures
- Solution to puzzles
- Concealed paths
- Optional interactions
Players who take time to examine their surroundings usually find out more than those who race towards their goals.
Enemies, Bosses & Advanced Combat Strategies
Now, it’s time for you to understand how game opponents work. One of the biggest features that Forsaken Realms: Vahrin’s Call has is diversity among its enemies. Enemies don’t come across as mere tanks that absorb damage. Every opponent has their own unique way of movement, timing of attacks, strengths, and weaknesses that make you adjust to them.
Understanding how these opponents act is more useful than leveling up your character.

Purpose for Every Enemy
Instead of increasing enemy health, the game offers new opponents that make you face a specific difficulty according to your build. Some of them stress your mobility. Others make you pay for playing defensively.
Some give you an advantage in numbers. Others need perfect timing.
Humanoid Enemies
Bandits, Mercenaries, Corrupted Soldiers, and Hostile Adventurers are some of your first foes. While they appear simple, they impart a lot of the basics of combat in the game.
They will do the following:
• Blocking Attacks
• Dodging Attacks
• Special Moves with Weapons
• Combos of Attacks
• Damaging Reckless Behavior
This is good practice for when you fight against stronger monsters.
Beasts
Wild animals often use speed over intelligence.
Attributes:
• Sudden lunges
• Jumping strikes
• Flanking
• Rapid recovery
Beasts often present temporary openings after their attack. Fighting blow for blow rarely works out well. So, wait. Dodge. Attack. Repeat.
Undead
The undead present a slower and more methodical fight pace. Though individually not as dangerous as many foes to come, they often come in numbers. Strengths of the undead are:
• Hordes
• Durability
•/Area Denial
Crowd control becomes important against them. Big swings and AoE spells excel.
Demonic Beasts
As you progress further, you will find that the demons you have to fight become more challenging. The demons have the following features:
• Larger attacking range
• Elemental powers
• Dealing more damage
• More aggressive
Consider each demon as one which has unknown tactics to attack. Observe before engaging.
Elite Enemies
There are some monsters that look much tougher compared to other enemies around. The following are common features of elite enemies:
• High health
• More aggressive artificial intelligence
• New attacks
• Better loot
It does not mean that they are necessary once you find them. Sometimes you have to come back with better gear.
Facing Groups
To fight against many enemies at once is to have a different mindset altogether. Most new players concentrate on dishing out damage. Most seasoned players concentrate on positioning. If ever possible:
- Have all enemies in front of you.
- Avoid being surrounded.
- Withdraw into areas where there is more room.
Wide weapons like Greatswords and Hammers work best here. When in big fights, take out the biggest threat first. Typically, you should consider:
- Large melee enemies
- Ranged enemies
- Spell-casters
- Quick enemies
Removing enemies that constantly pressure your movement makes the rest of the encounter significantly easier.
Status Effects Become Increasingly Important
With more types of enemies, status effects gain prominence. Neglecting them may very quickly make easy battles extremely difficult.
Burning
Inflicts constant damage.
Fireproof gear and spells to heal are more valuable in encounters with enemies using fire magic.
Poison
Drains health and promotes defensive gameplay.
Having some healing potions available keeps the poison effect under control.
Bleeding
Mostly occurs due to fast melee strikes.
Since Bleeding works for aggressive enemies, distancing oneself prior to healing is the best option.
Slow
Caused mostly by magic enemies.
Limited mobility makes it more difficult to dodge.
Being aware of these attacks in advance is crucial.
Petrification
One of the more threatening states.
Temporary paralysis makes one unable to move at all.
Try not to stay close to enemies who can cause Petrification.
Your First 10 Hours: A Recommended Roadmap
Many RPGs overwhelm new players with too many systems at once.
If you’re unsure where to focus during the early game, this roadmap provides a solid foundation.
Hours 1–2
Focus on learning the basics.
Prioritize:
- Experimenting with every weapon type.
- Testing your first spells.
- Practicing dodge timing.
- Exploring every accessible side path.
- Reading nearby notes and books.
Don’t worry about creating the “perfect” build yet.
Hours 3–5
Begin shaping your preferred playstyle.
Start:
- Upgrading your favorite armor.
- Unlocking Skill Books.
- Collecting crafting materials.
- Improving one or two combat specialties.
- Completing side quests before progressing.
By this point you’ll have a much better understanding of which combat style feels most enjoyable.
Hours 6–10
Expand your toolkit.
Now is an excellent time to:
- Learn Alchemy.
- Experiment with Traps.
- Upgrade frequently used spells.
- Equip useful Talismans.
- Challenge optional bosses if you feel prepared.
Rather than specializing completely, continue exploring multiple combat systems.
Flexibility remains one of your greatest strengths.
Forsaken Realms: Vahrin’s Call succeeds by allowing players to find the game’s systems by themselves. By not limiting you to one particular type of build, this game offers the freedom of experimentation via a flexible progression system, an interesting exploration process, and an excellent crafting of worlds.
The game’s dungeons are full of secrets that can be discovered by players, whether it’s a rare Skill Book, unique weapon, or an extra boss fight. In the process of discovering all these items, players will learn more about Lea’s history.
When playing Forsaken Realms: Vahrin’s Call for the first time, it would be a mistake to go for a strong build and complete the story questline as fast as possible. Instead, it is necessary to embrace the atmosphere of adventure offered by the game.
Exploring the world, trying different weapons and magic powers, and rebuilding your characters when new abilities and equipment become available – it is the key to success here.
