Vampires: Bloodlord Rising – Beginner’s Tips And Tricks

Vampires: Bloodlord Rising is an open-world RPG that is currently in early access. As the game is in early access, there will not be too much content in it, but it should be enough for some time at least. For more information about the game, head over to its Steam page.

As this is an RPG game, your actions and choices matter a lot. The developers have emphasized player choice heavily, so it can be easy to mess up the path you are on. This game also includes base-building mechanics, which can make it tricky to focus on everything at once. So here, in this guide, I will tell you about some of the best beginner tips and tricks that will help you have a better start in Vampires: Bloodlord Rising.

Do Not Just Focus On The Main Objectives Alone

As you start the game, it may be tempting to continue the story by focusing only on the main objectives. However, you should not do that, as there will not be much to gain that way. Sure, you will have fun unfolding the mysteries and progressing the story, but it is better to focus on base building as well.

Build a nice base and create more vampires to help you achieve that. After upgrading the core to level two, you will be able to create more vampires. Because of this, perfecting your base early will not take much time, and your overall experience will become more enjoyable.

Progressing your base as you continue playing is crucial. However, you should also keep an eye out for what else you can do alongside it.

Create More Vampires At The Start

The game tells you to create two vampires using the special ability in the prologue. However, you do not have to follow that instruction exactly. At the start, when your core is at level two, you will be able to create only three vampires. So instead of two, I recommend creating three.

This will boost your progress, as your servants work quite slowly compared to you. Having more of them will surely be helpful early on. As you level up the core by empowering it and unlocking Hell’s Chasm, you will be able to create seven more vampires.

However, I do not recommend creating that many all at once. You can create a couple and then progress with the story. Keep exploring the town to find better talent, and if you find someone useful, make sure to hire them.

Utilize Your Vampires Correctly

One of the major mistakes you can make is not utilizing your vampires correctly. You should always keep in mind that stabilizing the core is a priority. The core should always have some blood inside it, and you cannot be the main supplier all the time. Because of this, you should have at least two vampires assigned to the core to supply their blood.

Other than that, you should assign different roles to your remaining vampires. While you can take care of ruins yourself, it can take a lot of time, so assigning a vampire to do this job is often the better option. You should also make sure to assign tasks such as collecting wood, clay, and sand so they can craft different objects without any issues.

You should also keep in mind that vampires need a coffin to rest during the day. Simply making a coffin is not enough, as you need to assign a vampire to their dedicated coffin. If you have more vampires, creating more crypts is necessary.

Always Find Different Mausoleums

As you progress through the story, you will have to travel across the world. You can easily teleport back to your base, but you cannot do that from every location. You can unlock fast travel between your different bases, but that only works from base to base.

So what happens if your character is defeated in combat far away from your main base? You will be spawned back at the main base, and you will have to travel all the way back to where you were. To prevent this from becoming an issue, I recommend finding different Mausoleums.

There is even one near the village in Hell’s Chasm. So, as you are heading there, I recommend visiting the Mausoleum first, as there are going to be many Inquisitors in the area. This way, even if you are defeated in combat, you will be respawned at the Mausoleum instead. You do not need to perform any kind of ritual. Simply finding the Mausoleum is enough to set it as your respawn point.

Master The Combat

Mastering the combat in this game is actually not very difficult. Combat in Vampires: Bloodlord Rising is quite simple, at least during the early game. You can attack, counterattack, and dash. Attacking is straightforward, and most normal enemies can be defeated with just a few hits.

The yellow attacks can be counterattacked, but the red ones cannot. You need to dodge those using your dash, as it provides plenty of invincibility frames. Your character basically teleports, so the attack will not hit you. Also, keep in mind that enemies carrying shields need to have their shields destroyed with a charged attack before you can deal any real damage to them.

Combat can become a little more complicated as you progress through the game. However, this increase in difficulty is gradual, so you will have plenty of time to learn and adapt as you continue playing.

Unlock The Right Abilities First

As you play the game, you will notice certain items called Vampire’s Tears. These can be obtained from Inquisitors’ camps, but you should be careful when using them. The first ability I recommend unlocking in this game is the bat transformation ability.

It will not be available immediately, but you should focus on the branch that helps you unlock it. This ability helps a lot with traversal and makes the overall experience much better. Along with that, you should also focus on upgrading Beast Vision. At the start, you can only sense blood, but this ability can be upgraded further so you can see blood trails, highlight specific materials, and even uncover hidden secrets.

So do not waste your tears on random upgrades. Make sure to unlock skills that will ultimately help your progression in the game.

Unlock Hell’s Chasm First

Once you reach level two of the core, you will be given three different areas to unlock. I highly recommend choosing Hell’s Chasm first, as this area gives you access to many important resources. It provides materials needed for making roof tiles, as well as Blood Vessels.

These items are necessary to progress further in the game, so prioritizing Hell’s Chasm is a smart choice. You can also assign some of your vampires to explore Hell’s Chasm and gather different materials for you while you focus on other tasks.
