Choosing A Template
The first option that you’ll see in the character menu is to select a body type, and after that, you’ll have to pick a template. You can pick from several templates available.
There are both Elegant and Realistic categories for templates, with each one offering a unique variety for both body types. If you don’t find a suitable template that fits your preference, don’t worry, because you can further customize it later on to add some finishing touches or adjust the template according to your taste.
Furthermore, you can also select a template from publicly available ones that were created by others. If you find a template that fits your preference in the gallery, you can select it as your own and play with it.

Crafting A Template Based On An Image
Where Winds Meet‘s character creation allows you to upload an image of yourself, and the game then converts your avatar into something that looks like you. However, this feature isn’t super accurate, and there might be a few inaccuracies that you’ll have to adjust yourself.
You’ll have to upload an image in the JPEG format, and make sure the resolution of the image isn’t too high. If it is, you’ll have to scale it down until you can use the image in the character creation. Sometimes, the game will give you an error for being unable to process the image. You should try it after some time, and it may work.

Crafting A Template Based On Your Voice
You can also use your voice to craft an avatar of yourself. The game will ask you to read a short paragraph after turning on your mic. After that, the game will process your voice to judge your traits based on the voice, and then craft a character based on those traits.
Voice recording often gives errors, but you can make it work after some patience with it. Note that the tone of your voice also has an effect on what traits you’ll get, which affects your avatar’s features.

Making Adjustments
After selecting the template, you can adjust the facial features and makeup in the next menu. There are plenty of sliders for just about everything in the customization menu, which can be used to make the character look exactly like what you want.
Furthermore, there are makeup options that you can use to give your characters some scars or makeup, and you can even adjust the color of their eyes and stuff.
The hairstyles are mostly locked behind a paywall, and you can’t change the color of the hairstyle as well. You’ll just have to get along with the default ones until you unlock more hairstyles via exploration or gacha.

Accessing Character Customization After The Intro
If you want to change your face after you’ve started the game, you’ll have to progress through chapter one of the main story until you reach the Still Shore quest. Here, you’ll find a character named Cheng Xin, the leader of the faceless. You’ll first have to fight against the Heartless, and after that, you’ll be able to talk to him to change your face.
You can find Cheng Xin after dropping down from the well near Yaoyao’s Clinic in the Qinghe region.
