Where Winds Meet – Qianye The Witch Boss Battle Guide

Where Winds Meet

Qianye is the final boss of Chapter One: Heaven Has No Pier of Where Winds Meet‘s main story. The boss requires careful preparation and is one of the most challenging bosses that you might’ve come across so far. For more information on the game, don’t forget to visit their official website here.

While Qianye is a story boss, you can also face her again after defeating her at the cost of energy. However, defeating it for the second time gets much easier because you’d have a decent strategy to win against her by now.

Where To Find Qianye

Qianye’s boss battle comes as part of Chapter One of the main story. If you’ve left the quest zone to level up or for any reason, you can return to it by opening the quest menu, tracking the quest, and then pressing the corresponding button to teleport to the quest area.

However, it’s best to be prepared, and if you can’t seem to defeat her, you may need to become stronger by exploring and leveling up. If you want to leave the quest area, you’ll have to select the door icon at the top of the screen before initiating the boss battle in Qianye’s arena.

If you’ve already fought against Qianye during the story, you can reach her by opening the journal and navigating to the campaigns section. Here, you’ll have to click the Blissful Retreat option, and that will allow you to teleport directly under the Sweetwine Tower, where you can initiate the boss battle by interacting with her scythe on the ground.

The boss battle will reward you with several upgrade materials. However, you’ll have to spend 20 energy to claim the rewards once, and 40 energy to claim them twice after the boss battle.

Preparations To Fight Against Qianye

Qianye is an extremely challenging boss, and it’s best to prepare yourself fully before facing her during the story. It is recommended that your Mastery is at least around 5500 or more. Furthermore, you should also raise the world level to 4, and have your character level at least above 35 with maxed-out weapon martial arts training for consistent damage.

You should also complete all the exploration quests to gather Medicinal Tales to level up your medicine box, because having 3 charges to heal yourself will make the fight drastically easier compared to having only 2 in your arsenal. You can gather Medicinal Tales by completing outposts and exploration quests.

It’s also recommended to have the Guarding Qi Core talent unlocked from the talent tree. This talent allows you to survive the damaging combos of the boss and makes you invulnerable for a short duration, giving you enough time to heal. The cooldown of this talent resets for every phase transition, making it an excellent tool in this boss battle.

How To Fight Against Qianye The Witch

Qianye has two health bars. After you’ve defeated her once, Qianye will teleport you into a mirror dimension, where you’ll have to fight her at full strength. The second phase of this boss fight has a gimmick, where she switches out with a white, mirrored version of herself. She’ll revert to the red version when she has around 20% health remaining.

The entirety of the boss battle revolves around how easily you’re able to deflect her attacks. She hits very hard, and if you get stuck in her combo, there’s little chance that you’ll survive. During the first phase, you’ll have Yi Dao by your side, so try to make him tank all the damage.

If you’re able to stagger Qianye, keep doing regular hits on her while she’s stunned, and only when the stagger bar is about to run out, you should use your finishing move to efficiently deal as much damage as possible while she’s staggered.

Qianye The Witch Phase One

Qianye usually throws one or two swings of her scythes when she’s up close. These melee attacks should be deflected, but even if you eat those, it’s fine. However, when it comes to her attacks, where her scythe is flashing red, you must deflect it. It’s easy after you get used to it.

The timing requires you to press the deflect button after her scythe flashes red for the second time. During that moment, you’ll have to press the deflect button. If her Scythe is glowing golden, you have to dodge and get away from the direction she’s facing.

Her golden flashing attack will end with her throwing out waves of energy from her scythe, and if you’re hit by even one of those hits, you’ll take a ton of damage, so just let her do the attack and get behind her by dodging or by using movement.

After taking some hits, Qianye may step away from you, slowing down the time. Sometimes, she’ll also just raise the scythe in both of her hands and disappear. Both of these attacks function the same way, where Qianye will vanish and throw two attacks at you out of thin air, disappearing immediately after landing the attacks.

Here, you should try to deflect the second attack or just memorize the timing to dodge as soon as she appears. If you deflect her second attack, she’ll stay there and recover for a short duration.

After Qianye has only around 40% of HP left, she’ll jump into the arena and throw her scythe at you like a boomerang. The first attack will miss because she’s not aiming at you for that one. However, you’ll have to watch out as the scythe returns to her. Dodge carefully and just keep moving to avoid this attack.

After the throw, Qianye will keep glowing yellow and dive at you with her scythe. There’s a very short window here for you to use the Acupuncture Mystic Art, and if you’re successful, that will knock her to the ground as she attacks you, negating any damage that it might’ve caused you, while dealing significant stagger damage to her.

If you fail to use the mystic art, the only other option is to dodge this attack because deflecting it is not possible. After dodging it, you have to be wary of the follow-up attack where she swings her yellow-glowing scythe around, damaging anything in the AOE. If you watch out for all of this, you’ll be able to defeat her with ease in her first phase.

Qianye The Witch Phase Two (Red Version)

As the battle begins, you’ll have to fight against Qianye’s red version. It is definitely not easy because her attacks are relentless, and you’ll have to parry entire combos to get out of it unscathed. But these combos are also her biggest weakness. Perfectly deflecting a single combo drains about half of her stagger meter.

If you keep doing it, you’ll be able to stagger her twice in a row and deal enough damage for her to transition into the white version. Her attacks place a Scalding debuff on you. She doesn’t throw out many singular attacks, so if you parry one attack, be ready for another one right away.

Dodge her golden-glowing attacks to the side. She unleashes a string of attacks, and you’ll have to get behind her to avoid the whole thing. Sometimes, she’ll unleash a golden-glowing attack after the end of a combo, and you’ll have to dodge that as well, so keep your eyes on her scythe.

You can interrupt or stagger her by using Martial Arts skills. Her red glowing attacks are similar to the ones she uses in the first phase, and you have to watch out for the second glow to deflect her effectively. You’d want to save up at least 1 Medicine charge during your fight against her to use it against the white version.

Qianye The Witch Phase Two (White Version)

After the red version loses around 50% HP, she’ll throw the main character in the white version’s arena. This arena continuously drains your health, but you can recover it by successfully landing attacks on the enemy and deflecting their attacks. However, that’s not as easy as it sounds because the white version of Qianye teleports around a lot.

It’s hard to lock her down, but you can’t afford to sit idle and wait for her to attack like you’d do against her red version. You have to force the attacks on her, use all your skills, because this is the most difficult part of the battle. Keep in mind that the stagger meter from the red version will carry over to the white version. They both share the same health bar and stagger meter.

Use the medicine that you’ve been saving up here. If you stagger her, be sure to land as many attacks as you can before delivering the finishing blow because it will also heal you. After she has only around 30% health left, she’ll revert to the red version by slashing and destroying the entire arena. However, once she reverts, you’ll be able to defeat her easily.

Rewards For Defeating Qianye The Witch

During the story, you’re required to defeat Qianye to end Chapter One. However, her campaign version also offers a variety of interesting rewards that you’d need to upgrade your character.

These rewards include gold, talent books, inner way notes chests, and weapons, alongside weapon upgrade material. However, the rewards are also based on your current world level, so as your world level goes up, the rewards will also improve.
