Whiskerwood is a cozy colony management game where you create a colony from scratch. Whiskers have been sent to distant lands to establish a new settlement, and that won’t be simple. If you are a fan of Tom and Jerry, city-building simulations, complex structures, and cozy environments, then this game is definitely for you. You can visit its Steam page to learn more.
As you start the game, you are given several objectives to complete, and if you are new to this genre, it can feel overwhelming. One of the first tasks you receive is Underground Riches, where you need to set up mining workers, which isn’t possible without a Mining Camp. In this guide, I will teach you how to mine in Whiskerwood as simply as possible.
Disclaimer
Whiskerwood is currently in Early Access, so it is still a work in progress. This means it is not the final version, and there are likely to be some changes in the future. If you are not satisfied with its current state, it might be better to wait for the final release.
How To Mine in Whiskerwood

After you sign the charter, you will notice that you are already in debt, but don’t worry about that for now. You will start the game with five workers or Whiskers, which is pretty generous. Your main goal is to increase your approval rating, which I will explain in another guide. For now, focus on the quest Underground Riches.
In this quest, you need to assign two of your Whiskers to a Mining Camp. Doing so will reward you with one additional Whisker. To complete this task, go to Resource Extraction, which can be found at the bottom of the screen, the fourth option from the left. Click it, then select Mining Camp. Build it near an area where you see a lot of coal and stone.

Once the Mining Camp has been built, assign two of your workers to it, and your objective will be completed. When assigned, the Whiskers will start mining nearby coal or stone. In my playthrough, the game automatically assigned a member of the guild that specializes in mining, but if it does not do the same for you, make sure to do it manually.

Also, after you have assigned the workers, make sure to click on the Mining Camp and then select the Mine Tool. Use it to mark the terrain where you want your Whiskers to mine.
At this stage, mining will be slower than you might expect, but that is okay. As your colony grows, you will discover more areas and resources to mine. That is pretty much everything you need to know about how to mine in Whiskerwood for now, but if something else comes up in my playthrough, I will make sure to add it here.
