As you play, you will notice that you can gain or lose approval depending on how you treat your workers. Since approval is one of the most important mechanics in Whiskerwood, there are consequences you will face if you fail to maintain it.

Whiskerwood is currently in Early Access, so it is still a work in progress. This means it is not the final version, and there are likely to be some changes in the future. If you are not satisfied with its current state, it might be better to wait for the final release.
What Happens If You Fail To Gain Approval In Whiskerwood
As mentioned above, approval is one of the main mechanics in the game, so you need to be extra careful with it. You can easily gain approval by treating your Whiskers right, which I have explained in my guide on how to get approval. That said, if you fail to gain approval continuously, then your colony is in danger.
While this does not directly affect your colony, it has many indirect negative effects that can seriously impact your progress. If you do not have enough approval, you will not be able to hire more workers. This means that your colony will stop expanding, and as a result, your progress will come to a complete halt. This is not something you would want to happen, especially in a management game like this, where growth and efficiency are essential.
Approval is also used to assign overtime to certain workers, and it has several other important uses as well. So, if you fail to gain it, you simply will not be able to proceed any further (not literally). You will not have additional workers, and if you still manage to expand your colony in one way or another, you are most likely going to miss your tax quotas.
This happens because you will not have enough manpower to gather resources or build new structures on time. Without enough Whiskers working efficiently, production slows down, and your overall colony performance will drop. There can also be other threats that become harder to deal with when your approval is low, so overall, if you do not gain approval, you, my friend, are in serious trouble.
