Trails In The Sky: 2nd Chapter – Walkthrough Prologue

Trails In The Sky: 2nd Chapter Walkthrough

Trails In The Sky: 2nd Chapter picks up the events of the game after Estelle Bright and Joshua manage to defeat the Aureole’s ancient mechanical guardian and become Senior Bracers. However, the celebrations are short-lived when Joshua decides to disappear on his own, leaving Estelle and the rest of the bracers confused.

Prologue: A Young Girl’s Decision

As you start a new game, you can choose to watch a recap to refresh your memory or to get a decent idea of what happened in the prequel.

Estelle will then wake up in Joshua’s room. She’ll shortly go out on the garden terrace to look for her father after meeting with Scherazade.

As you walk out, you’ll find Cassius Bright shortly ahead. Follow the quest marker to reach Cassius, and this will trigger another cutscene.

After the cutscene, Estelle will find herself en route home on an airliner, alongside a man named Kevin who claims to be a wandering priest.

Kevin agrees to tag along with Estelle until she returns to her home to look if Joshua is there. Estelle’s house is on the outskirts, so you’ll have to go through town and take the path going right.

Once you’ve arrived at Estelle’s house, a cutscene will trigger where she can’t find Joshua and finally has to face the reality that he has left for good. Cassius and Scherazade will arrive at the scene, accepting Estelle’s feelings and allowing her to go and look for Joshua while also informing her about a mysterious organization called Ouroborus, which might be behind all of the evil happenings in Liberl.

Training Arc

As the cutscene begins, you’ll find Estelle sparring against Anelace. After having lunch with Anelace inside the lounge, you’ll have to go upstairs and enter Estelle’s room.

Grab Estelle’s stuff from her room and go back downstairs. Kurt, Estelle’s and Anelace’s teacher, will be sitting on a chair. He’ll ask you to sit in the seat in front of him. Here, he’ll tell you that he plans to take you to the Balstar Channel.

During the conversation, Kurt will hand you two new Tactical Orbments. This will render all of the Quartz that Estelle acquired useless, and you’ll have to start fresh from here.

Next, you’ll have to check out some tutorial menus and then talk to Phyllis and Robert. Phyllis will teach you about cooking, and you can buy ingredients and items from her. Robert, on the other hand, sells you Quartz and Orbment-related stuff.

You’ll have to synthesize Mind 1 and Shield 1 Quartz. Equip Mind 1 on Estelle and Shield 1 on Anelace. After that, head out ot the Le Locle Training Grounds, and you’ll find Kurt standing on the way.

Talk to him, and he’ll tag along with the girls as you reach the end of the path. Select Balstar Channel from the fast travel menu, and you’ll arrive there in no time.

Balstar Channel

Balstar Channel is the tutorial area where you’ll learn about the game’s basic combat mechanics. The first few sections are inescapable battles as you try to go deeper into the area.

At the end of the first section, you’ll find a gigantic frog. This one is similar to slime enemies in other games, where physical damage is less effective compared to magical arts. Defeat it and progress ahead.

In the next section, you’ll find pathways linked by retractable bridges. These bridges are controlled via levers. You’ll have to reach and pull the levers to make the bridges so that you can pass across.

The entire section is filled with a ton of enemies, but you can run past most of them. However, keep in mind that on standard difficulty, you’ll need to take part in some battles, or the boss battles later on in the story can feel extremely challenging.

As you pass through the gate in the second section, you’ll enter the third section. Here, some of the paths are submerged in water.

There’s a switch to your right as you enter the section. This will drain the water out and allow you to go downstairs.

Once you’ve drained out the water, you’ll be able to use the stairs to get to some other platforms. There are retractable bridges in this area as well.

You’ll have to look for the levers, which are usually near the bridge. Once you’ve done that, you’ll be able to enter the final area.

After entering the final area of Balstar Channel, you’ll find a healing crystal at the start of the corridor. If you go deeper, you’ll find Kurt waiting for you here.

You’ll have to fight against Kurt to prove that you’re ready to progress to the next stage.

As the battle begins, you’ll learn about S-Crafts and S-Break. Use these skills to overpower Kurt. You’ll have to use everything you’ve learned in the previous tutorial battles to come out victorious.

Once you’ve almost depleted Kurt’s entire health bar, he’ll enter rage mode. You can lose your characters to Kurt’s attack in this stage. Use healing items to revive fallen characters, or you can continuously heal them so they don’t get close to falling. Furthermore, note that Kurt only has 1 HP in Rage, so you can squeeze out an attack to end the battle here.

Sudden Raid

Once you’ve defeated Kurt at the Balstar Channels, Estelle and Anelace will return to the training lounge.

Talk to Robert, and he’ll let you upgrade one of the slots on the Orbment tech. You can also buy more Quartz because you’ll need them.

After doing business with Robert, return to Estelle’s room upstairs and hit the bed to rest for the day. In the middle of the night, you’ll hear some commotion.

Here, you can choose to wake up or go back to sleep. I picked the option to wake up and received 2 BP.

As you go downstairs, you’ll find out that Kurt has been injured and the facility is under attack by a Jaeger Corps.

You’ll then have to battle against one of the Jaegers. This is quite a challenging battle. Use your S-Break skills and Chain attacks to fill up the Stun Meter while also dealing significant damage.

After the Jaeger has lost around 60% HP, it will enter rage mode. Keep healing Estelle and Anelace whenever their HP drops below half so you can tank one of the Jaeger’s unblockable attacks.

Once you’ve defeated the Jaeger, another Female Jaeger will appear and throw a smoke bomb at Estelle and Anelace. You’ll then wake up in an entirely new area.

Saint-Croix Forest

Anelace asks Estelle about who might’ve brought the duo to the Saint-Croix Forest. I picked the option that the Jaeger assailants might’ve brought them here, and received 2 BP.

You can inspect the Jaeger tent nearby. Now, you’ll have to find a way out of the forest to return to the training lounge.

Your destination is marked on the map. Keep exploring the forest while trying to chart a way to the marked point.

You can open your minimap at any point to see where you have to go from here. Be wary that the forest has plenty of Mimic Chests, which initiate a battle when you try to open them up, but have decent rewards as well.

Just before you reach the marked location, you’ll find a healing crystal. It is recommended that you’re at least level 30 beyond this point, but you can still defeat the next boss if you’re slightly lower than that with some luck.

Heal yourself and go through the marked area. You’ll find the Female Jaeger here. She’s ready to battle. You’ll get to make the final choice here if you want to fight her or if you want to step away for the moment and get some more exp.

The Female Jaeger has around the same HP as the other Jaeger, but her offensive abilities are more dangerous. Avoid making Estelle and Anelace stand too close to each other during battle. Female Jaeger often throws grenades, and if they’re standing too close, both of them will take damage from the grenades.

The boss enters rage mode if her HP drops below 40%. Even if you lose a character, try to continue the fight, and you’ll eventually defeat her.

Back To Training Lounge

After you’ve defeated the Female Jaeger, she’ll disappear after popping a smoke bomb. You can use the nearby exit to fast travel to the Training Lounge.

Enter the facility and look around for clues. There are the following clues inside the facility: broken glass shards, Kurt’s broken spear, Kurt’s blood, a broken communication machine, empty food barrels, and the torn Liberl map.

After you’ve checked out all of the clues, Anelace will ask what the Jaeger Corps did at the facility. I picked the option that said that the Jaeger Corps moved to a new base and received 3 BP.

Once you’ve made your choice, Robert will show up inside the facility. He’ll ask to assist you with your new Quarts and Orbments. You can buy some new Quartz and upgrade slots here. Don’t forget that you can rest at either Estelle’s or Anelace’s bed inside the facility to heal yourself. Once you’re ready, head for the Grimsel Fortress.

Grimsel Fortress

As you enter Grimsel Fortress, you’ll find two chests on the left, and the path forward on the right. A locked gate blocks the path. You can enter the room and access the control panel to open the gate and move forward.

There’s a long corridor in the next section. You’ll find a room to your right that has a Power control panel; turn it on.

Get back on the corridor and keep going straight until you reach the locked gate. Enter the room to your left and interact with the gate’s control panel to open it up.

Keep going ahead. There are a lot of enemies in the area, but keep moving, and you’ll reach a room with staircases. This will let you enter the 2nd floor, and you’ll find a healing crystal shortly ahead.

Just ahead of the healing crystal, you’ll find a section filled with darkness. There are a few lights on the ground leading you to a room on the left. There’s a chest inside with a night-vision goggles cosmetic item.

It’s nearly impossible to cross the area in the darkness, so you’ll have to open the menu and go to the costume tab. Here, you have to make Estelle equip the night-vision goggles. This will allow you to see in the darkness and find a path forward.

Exit the area and keep going ahead. There will be another room ahead with staircases. You can enter 3F from there. The fortress is full of enemies, but you can choose to run past some of them.

On the 3F, you’ll find a quest marker on the map. When you reach the marked location, you’ll find a chest here. Open the chest to find an ID unit.

Keep moving ahead. As you walk through the corridors, you’ll eventually arrive at another locked gate, but this one requires an ID.

You can use the ID unit on the control panel to open the gate leading to the final area of the fortress.

You’ll find the third Jaeger here. This one appears to be the leader. You’ll get a choice for a bluff here. I mistakenly picked the smoke signal option and received no BP.

After that, you’ll have to fight against the Jaeger boss. By now, both Estelle and Anelace should have a healing skill. Use them to heal each other and don’t let their HP fall below half here.

Keep using S-Break skills whenever they’re available. After some time, the boss will prepare to use an attack in a highlighted area. Make sure your characters are positioned in a way that is out of the highlighted section.

If you’re having trouble, use Petal Dance on Anelace and focus on attacking. If her HP drops below, heal yourself. This strategy can allow you to survive against the boss’s rage mode.

Keep in mind that the boss is resistant to physical attacks. Any attacks that speed up your characters or slow down the Jaeger are quite useful in this battle.

Prologue’s End

After the Jaegers have been defeated, you’ll see a cutscene that explains the truth behind the Jaegers’ goals.

Once the cutscenes are over, Estelle and Anelace arrive in the Royal Capital Grancel after finishing their training as Chapter 1: A Looming Shadow begins.
