Welcome to part 1 of Into Indie Games’ walkthrough for Tukoni: Forest Keeper.
As the first leaf of autumn falls, the Traveller wakes up for his grand adventure. But before setting off, he must pack his bag with everything he’ll need to get the forest ready for winter.

The Western Path
After the cutscene, open your Notebook. The tasks you’ll have to do will be shown here. There are three items you must collect.
Close the Notebook and pick up the Herb and the Teabag from the hut. After that, interact with the Chest behind you.
The Chest is locked, and you’ll need to know the correct combination for it. There’s also a Missing Button that you have to find.
From here, start going left first. You’ll see a Dew hanging off a leaf.
Just a few steps past it, you’ll find a Tukoni hiding behind the hazelnut bush. Talk to them. They will ask for something that plays music.
Continue past them to spot some painting equipment on the ground. There’s a path heading upward. Pick up the Red Paint with Brush.
Then head up the slope to the top of the hill. As you go up the hill, note the Half-Drawn Track on the left.
Inspect the canvas at the top of the hill. You can’t see the drawing clearly. But the Traveller will take a note of it in their Notebook.
Head all the way to the left, and you’ll find some Coloring Pencils on a table. Pick them up.
With all that done, return to your hut. We’ll explore the eastern path next.
The Eastern Path
From the hut, take a few steps to the right to find a Kettle on the table. Pick it up.
Continue heading right, and after a blueberry bush, you’ll reach a sitting area. Pick up the Music Player and the Missing Button from the table.
Head all the way to the right and talk to the Tukoni hiding behind the grapevines. They will ask for some painting supplies. Give them the Red Paint with Brush, and you’ll get a Red Maple Leaf.
Head up the slope past the Tukoni. Pick up the Thermos on the ground.
Return to the Tukoni hiding behind hazelnut bushes and give them the Music Player. In return, they will give you a Hazelnut Leaf.
Preparing the Thermos
Return to the Dew hanging from a leaf and use the Kettle to collect the water.
Place the Kettle with water on the stove near the hut.
Combine the Herb and the Teabag in your inventory and add them to the Kettle on the table.
Combine the Hazelnut Leaf with the Thermos and then use them with the prepared Kettle. You’re almost ready to set off on your adventure.
Finding the Wooden Comb
Since you’ve found the Missing Button earlier, use it on the Chest near your hut. But you still need to find the correct combination.
Go back to the Half-Drawn Track on the western hill and use the Coloring Pencils to create a path for you.
Interact with the letter to send a letter to the Maple Tukoni.
Go to the top of the hill and use the Maple Leaf on the canvas.
This will make the drawings clearer. You now have to arrange them in the correct order. Use the hill in the background as a guide for solving this puzzle.
Check the image above for the correct solution to this puzzle. This solution tells you the combination for the Chest in the hut.
Return to the Chest and enter the correct combination as shown in the image above.
You’ll find the Wooden Comb inside.
Packing The Backpack
Once you gather all three items, a cutscene plays showing you a picnic basket. Go to the sitting area to the east of the hut to find it.
Interact with the basket. This will open a puzzle window where you have to fit everything into your backpack.
Here’s how we solved this puzzle.
Head through the Portal that opens up near the grapevines to set off on your adventure.
