Welcome to the Into Indie Games walkthrough covering the Mermaid Palace area of Twisted Tower.
Vincent finally makes it to the upstairs area of the Hotel, only to discover his fiancée, Charlotte, trapped inside a cage. Just as he tries to approach her, the Twisted Beast appears and takes her away to another location before Vincent can do anything.
Thankfully, Piper is still exploring the tower and manages to uncover another clue about where Charlotte could be taken. Vincent now has no choice but to continue the search, heading down to the Underground level, where the mysterious Mermaid Palace awaits.

Enter The Mermaid Palace
After you get the ticket for the Mermaid Palace, head back to the elevator and insert the ticket, then press the “Mermaid Palace” button so it will take you there.
As soon as you arrive, yet another TV will be waiting for you, along with another message from Mr. Twister. He will tell you a bit of history about this water park and how it used to be.
When the recording is done, jump through the hole next to the TV. Don’t worry, you will not get hurt. Instead, at the bottom, you will need to swim to get to the other side.
Progress forward until you spot another movie poster. The movie name is “Mermaid Memories,” and it is another one of Mr. Twister’s movies.
Vincent will make a comment that this was the first movie he and Charlotte watched.
When you’re done, next to the poster, you will find a door. Go through it. You will arrive at the pool rooms here. You will notice that a bunch of doors are locked, and you need to work on unlocking them.
Explore The East Poolrooms
To the right side, you will find stairs that will take you down to a valve. Hold interact with it to rotate the path ahead. When it’s in the right direction, go through it, and you will find a new weapon at the end.
This is a shotgun, and it will prove extremely useful during close-range encounters, which is more than half of the time in this game.
The door stands in front of you, so be ready. As soon as you open it, an enemy will run toward you. This is the perfect chance to try out your new weapon. Two shots to the head should be enough to kill it.
In this hallway, head to the second door to your left and interact with the lever here. This will unlock one of the doors back at the pool room.
Backtrack to the pool room and go through the door you just unlocked, the one by the sign of Seahorse Sam.
Just when you’re about to reach the pool room again, you will have to defeat a few enemies, the seahorses themselves.
After you defeat them, head through the door, and at the end of the hallway, break the vent entrance to the right. Go through the passage and break the exit, and you will jump down to the water.
Swim across until you reach the lever on the side. Interact with it to unlock the little room on the upper floor of the pool room. Continue swimming forward until you get out of the water.
When you’re out, look up and grapple to the upper floor. Here, activate the caged torch so you can grapple to the right side. You will need to go through another vent system to get back to the pool room.
Inside this vent passage, after you drop down, go to your right, and you will spot a ticket behind some bars. These bars are fake, and you can actually go through them, where you will find a Secret Area.
On the other side, you will come across the spa area. Here, you will find two of the mermaid running enemies, so don’t let that scare you. On the other side, you will see a green button. Interact with it.
This will move the wall and unlock a shortcut right back at the pool room. Here, look at the top left and grapple there, activate the caged torch, then drop down and head to the exit where the grapple point will be active.
You will find a Real Boy Station to your left, where you can spend your tickets and upgrade your weapons. Remember to upgrade the weapon that you have the most fun with.
In this room, pass through the archway and go left to reach the watering hole. Dive into the water, and you will find a valve at the bottom.
Swim back up, and in front of you, you will see the door is blocked by a chained metal box. This is where we need to go, and we will unlock it using the valve we just got.
From the blocked door, head to the left and then take the stairs to the right. Wait for the metal gate to open and pass through. At the end of this path, you will find the spot where you can put the valve.
Now turn the valve all the way to the end, and then the path will be clear, but only for a duration until it goes back down. Now you need to run back and go through the hallway exit to the next area.
Explore The Crimson Pearl
Vincent now needs to go through the Crimson Pearl section of the Mermaid Palace. At the start, you will find a newspaper lying on the bench, which shows that the critics hated Mr. Twister’s second movie, Mermaid Memories.
This is to know a bit more about this mysterious guy who took Charlotte and hopefully get an idea of why he’s doing it.
Moving forward, go through the door and then break the weak wooden planks blocking the path. Jump down through the tunnel and be prepared for a fight.
After you deal with the enemies, jump down into the pool and look for the vent entrance. Break it, and inside you will find a Secret Area with a bundle of tickets to pick up.
Back to the surface, progress forward, and you can interact with another letter on the desk if you need.
It’s one from Vincent to his mother, and somehow Vincent seems to just accept the fact that his letters are scattered here somehow.
Move forward and drop down. You will notice that the door to the VIP Pool access requires you to find a code for it. In addition to that, the Restroom door to your left requires you to find a Blue Key.
Find The Code To The VIP Area
Go to the left side where the Restroom door is and activate the caged torch. Run to the opposite side where the tripwire is and turn right. Inside this room, look up and grapple to the top floor.
If the targets are not blue, then you need to activate the caged torch again and be faster to reach it. Here, you will see the big sign with the code to the VIP area, which is 1326.
Head back down and put this code in the panel. This will open the door, and you can access the VIP Pool section.
Obtain The Restroom Key
After you go inside, look up and shoot the vent window. Grapple up there and then go through the passage to reach the room on the other side.
You will spot a new weapon lying on the floor, and you can go pick it up. But as soon as you try to reach the center of the room, you will see Charlotte inside her cage.
You will get a short cutscene showing a bunch of enemies just dancing hysterically around her while Charlotte’s hand is chained to the desk. A moment later, one of the enemies will cut her hand.
Right after that, the platform will rise, and you will be left to deal with numerous enemies in this area. You need to deal with all the enemies that will spawn here.
Once that’s done, the passage through the draining of the pool at the ground floor will open, and you can progress through there.
Swim until the end of the path, and you will find the Blue Key lying on the floor. Pick it up. From here, you need to backtrack all the way to the Restroom door and use the key to unlock it.
Leave The Mermaid Palace
Inside this restroom, go to the right and drop down from the hole on the ground. You will go deep into the sewage system now.
Here, one more time, jump through the hole on the ground where the fecal waste sign is and go through the tunnel.
Cross the bridge to reach the other side and turn left, where you will see Piper and, further behind him, a lever. First, speak to Piper, and he’ll let you know that Charlotte is being dragged up to the Clown Casino.
When the conversation is done, jump across and interact with the lever. This will open the round gate where the grapple target is. You will also spot on the ground a hand with a ring on it, and we can only assume it’s Charlotte’s.
Head back to the bridge and grapple up there, then drop down the hole, and there will be another TV waiting for you. Mr. Twister will warn you about the spiders in the sewers, and God, he did not lie.
If you have arachnophobia, you will not find this part enjoyable, but it’s a short one. The path here is pretty straightforward, and you need to escape the sewers while a bunch of spiders are pursuing you.
We tried to defeat them all during our first run here, but we ran out of ammo and the spiders didn’t run out, so your best bet is to just run and make your way upwards toward the tunnel that will drop you right down to the elevator.
Inside the elevator, you will find a purple Twisted Token, which means you will get a new toy and hopefully the ticket to let you reach the Clown Casino.
Return To The Lobby And Use Your Twisted Token
After you pick up the token, select the Lobby in the elevator. Once you arrive, you will find a trail of tickets that will point you to the door location. Follow the path and use the grapple to reach it.
Use the token here to unlock the door and progress forward. As soon as you arrive, you will be able to spot butterfly wings on the chair. Pick them up. This will allow you to dash while you’re jumping so you can reach far ledges.
Use your new toy to reach the other side and then turn left. You will see a green button at the end of the path. Activate it twice to flip the bridge.
Look back and up, and then grapple to reach the other side. You will find another button here, and you need to activate it three times so you can move the bridge to the right position.
Jump to the bridge and once again activate the green button here once to flip the statue so it can be standing and give you a ledge to jump to.
Jump across all the way to the end, and you will find the Clown Casino ticket waiting to be picked!
