Until Then: Afterimages – Chapter 2 Walkthrough Part 1

Until Then: Afterimages Chapter 2 serves as the proper conclusion of its storyline. The first chapter of Afterimages was focused on Sofia coming to terms with Cathy’s death, and Chapter 2 focuses on Mark.

This walkthrough will cover the final chapter of the DLC, which is considerably longer than the first.

Crinkles

Until Then: Afterimages Chapter 2
Mark Looking At The Window.

The chapter opens with Mark gazing at the city from a window, then someone calls him from behind. Time passes, and at the university, Mark’s friend snaps him back to reality, joking that Ontology might have given him an existential crisis.

Until Then: Afterimages Chapter 2
Angelo Talking With Mark.

Surprisingly, Mark, the slacker, is now a vice president at his university, and his friend asks him not to take everything too seriously. Knowing that the classes have been dismissed, he decides to sell the red velvet crinkles to everyone in the university.

As you walk across the students, press space to talk to them. Suddenly, a menu will appear with four words floating. Remember, the word you select should be related to the red velvet crinkles and shouldn’t be condescending in any way.

A Choice of Words.

Keep doing this as you walk right, descend the stairs, and reach the main hall of the university. Before you can leave, talk to at least five students. After that, exit the university and continue selling the cookies. If you fail to select the right option, the game will still progress as intended, so don’t fret over it.

Until Then: Afterimages Chapter 2
Walking Down The University’s Main Hall.

Outside, go right, and your friend will leave as he’s an applicant at an organization. When he leaves, another of Mark’s friends, Desiree Flores, calls him for a meeting at 4 PM at their HQ. Now, continue walking right and try to sell the crinkles, but Mark will fail repeatedly.

Until Then: Afterimages Chapter 2
Exiting The University.

Leave the university’s premises and walk outside, but when Mark tries to sell crinkles to a kid, he acts rudely and goes away. However, as Mark sees the kid walk away, Nicole, a character who served as one of the most important characters in the main game, reunites with him.

Nicole Reuniting With Mark.

They catch up, talk about their majors, and Nicole leaves. Another student walks up, and Mark manages to get her attention. With that, they ask for eight crinkles, and this segment ends.

On The Dot

Until Then: Afterimages Chapter 2
Mark Eavesdropping On Two Of His Organization Mates.

Mark reaches the headquarters and eavesdrops on a group talking about how strict their current president, Desiree, is. After their conversation ends, walk right to meet with Desiree, but another friend group will greet Mark and invite him to play Zenga (a parody of Jenga).

Until Then: Afterimages Chapter 2
One Of The Juniors Asking If They’re Safe As They’re Two Years Behind.

Everyone at the HQ loves Mark and always asks for his guidance whenever they need it. However, he rejects the invite and asks the next team, Dan and Trishia, about their project. They have received a reply from Store ‘N Store, a music group that Mark doesn’t know.

Dan And Trish.

They chat more about their work, and Mark leaves to meet with Caloy. He asks her whether he’s ready for the meeting, as she ought to present some of her work. However, she says that there’s a problem. While Mark tries to ask her about the supplier, they suddenly get called into the meeting.

Until Then: Afterimages Chapter 2
Angelo, Caloy, Desiree, And Mark In A Meeting.

Mark, his friend Angelo, Caloy, and Desiree (president) are present. The president is someone who requires everything right on the dot and doesn’t like people who are even five minutes late. According to her, Sparkle Night 2018, a music festival, is only two months away, and their team will be the host.

Until Then: Afterimages Chapter 2
Caloy Proving She’s A Fan Of Stone ‘N Store.

Desiree asks about the progress. Mark reveals that 70% of their lineup is complete, which also includes Store ‘N Store. Everyone is shocked, and from his side, everything’s right on schedule. When Desiree asks Angelo and Caloy about their progress, they remain quiet, but Mark saves them.

According to him, they can start selling tickets tomorrow as the supplier’s payment is ready, and the full lineup will be revealed when they get close to the date. Desiree thinks for a second and agrees to their plan. Like her usual self, she orders her team to give her updates tonight, not tomorrow. And if there are any concerns, they should let them know “right away.”

Caloy Talking With Mark.

After the meeting, Mark looks at Desiree from the balcony. Caloy arrives and thanks him for lying to save him during the meeting. He says it wasn’t a lie because he had backup suppliers available, but she still thanks him. He offers him a steak, but as humble as he is, Mark rejects the offer and says he has things to do.

Until Then: Afterimages Chapter 2
Mark Watching Desiree Talking To An Older Man.

Caloy leaves, and he looks at Desiree talking to an older man, presumably her father. She leaves in the car, and this segment concludes.

Playing Teamwork

Until Then: Afterimages Chapter 2
Mark Lying On His Bunkbed.

Mark returns to his dorm, which is quite messy due to his dormmate’s shenanigans. Interact with the printer and the dormmate’s stuff, then head to the bunk bed. He will lie down and open the class group chat. There, Angelo reveals that he’s applying for five startups, and everyone is stunned by his dedication.

Until Then: Afterimages Chapter 2
Checking The University’s Group Chat.

However, the conversation immediately shifts to headcounts, which the HQ lost a lot last year. When everyone asks about it, Mark tries to do some damage control, but nobody buys it. Trishia suddenly drops us a message and wonders why they can’t get their apps straight; she blames it on Desiree, who’s a perfectionist, and even the slightest of mistakes can enrage her.

Until Then: Afterimages Chapter 2
Mark Chatting With Trishia.

This makes Mark reminisce about the time when he first met Desiree, and he talks about feeling a negative energy whenever that older man talks to her outside the university. Now, he continues talking to Trishia and then receives a message from one of his HQ members, Carlos, who reveals they have secured another artist for the festival.

Until Then: Afterimages Chapter 2
Everyone Celebrating Sparkle Night’s Confirmation.

Mark thanks him, and then he returns to Trishia’s chat. They finally decide to announce it tomorrow and discuss it in the class group. Everyone’s happy, but suddenly Dan drops a message with ellipses. Surprisingly, he announced that he has officially secured Store ‘N Store for the festival, and they all celebrate.

Poster For Sparkle Night.

Since it’s a big day tomorrow, they all decide to pull an all-nighter. Since Dan is having a problem setting up a contract for the band, Mark decides to help him. After struggling with it for hours, he finalizes it and returns to the group chat to see the preparations progressing smoothly.

Before sleeping, Desiree messages Mark and thanks him for the hard work; they both compliment each other. After she goes to sleep, Mark’s dormmate, Ronel, arrives and wonders if his organization can make up for their blunder last year; Sparkle Fest was extremely overcrowded, and the organization didn’t take any responsibility for it.

Until Then: Afterimages Chapter 2
Mark Telling Ronel About The Organization’s New Management.

Mark explains that the management has changed, but Ronel says that the public doesn’t care about the management; it’s always about the organization’s name. Still, Mark believes everything will be fine thanks to Desiree. In a friendly manner, Ronel mocks Mark’s inability to have a girlfriend and shows him an app called Matchy (a parody of Tinder).

Until Then: Afterimages Chapter 2
Mark Scrolling Matchy.

After Ronel leaves, Mark downloads the app on his phone and decides to look for a match. Keep swiping right until a girl named Nicole comes up, reminding him of the real Nicole he knows personally. As you accept any girl on the app, the segment will end.

To Know You

Desiree, Mark, And Caloy Giving Handouts.

The next day, Caloy and Mark show Desiree the handouts outside the university. He compliments it, but says that things are only getting started. Two students pass by, and Desiree tries to give them the Sparkle Fest’s handout, but they mock their efforts by remembering last year’s incident.

Caloy Talking About Keeping Himself Busy.

Despite this, Caloy tries to keep the hopes up and leaves for his station. Mark takes out his phone to check the university’s NookFace page and checks the reactions to Sparkle Fest’s announcement. Spoiler alert: They’re mostly condescending.

Until Then: Afterimages Chapter 2
Mark Checking Sparkle Night’s NookFace Announcement.

Once you’ve read the comments, click the back button on the top left. Mark puts the phone in his pocket and asks Desiree whose fault it was. She doesn’t know, but according to her, it wasn’t the organization’s fault. So, they decide to continue giving out the handouts, and one of the students takes it.

Until Then: Afterimages Chapter 2
Desiree and Mark.

They do it for a good while, and when the second student closes in, you will receive a choice of words to say to make them interested. However, no matter what you choose, they’ll walk away.

From this point, Mark finally sees Desiree beyond the veil of being “bossy.” Despite being a rough-and-tough president, she’s just a great leader who wants nothing but the best for her team and the university. No matter how misunderstood she is during her leadership, Mark is learning the opposite side of her. Both of them feel drawn to each other, but they don’t want to admit it.

Mark And Desiree Having A Conversation.

From Desiree’s perspective, Mark is one hell of a hard worker, even with all the mishaps he causes every single time. Together, they continue to grow as the festival comes closer. During these days, Mark checks Matchy again, and Desiree wonders whether she wants to continue. Still, they try to sell the tickets.

Desiree Guiding The Organization Mates.

Two students pass by, and to attract them, you must choose these words: More Artists and Discounted. Suddenly, Desiree starts acting strangely and tries to ask Mark a question, but she’s hesitant as she doesn’t want to answer his counter-question. He promises that he won’t ask anything, and Desiree asks away: Who was he talking to on the phone a few minutes ago?

Mark Talking To Desiree.

She apologizes for asking such a personal question. However, Mark, without hesitation, answers that it was his dad on the phone. He was inviting him to Sparkle Fest, but he won’t be able to join. Desiree says that her dad would’ve come for her, and asks Mark if he wouldn’t want his dad to come too. He’s annoyed and says that he wants him to join, but he’s making excuses.

Mark Talking About His Dad.

Continuing the conversation, Mark further explains how it feels to live with his dad after finally coming to terms with his mom’s death. Even if they have a healthy relationship, they just… don’t feel happy together. Desiree immediately catches his drift, and since he feels understood, Mark’s eyes become teary.

Desiree Comforting Mark.

She hugs him, and he begins to feel safe. A few moments later, Desiree leaves, and Nicole comes to him with her boyfriend, Lucas. They have come here with a proposal: Help with next year’s Sparkle Fest, and receive a fair share. Since Lucas and Nicole’s organization has shifted to charitable events, they can’t host anything like this.

Mark says it’s a good offer, asking them to send a proposal to make things official. They look forward to it and leave.

Chair of Theseus

Mark Eating A Cookie.

Back at the dorm, Mark revises Ontology, a philosophical study based on the existence of everything on the planet. He takes a cookie and eats it as he studies, but suddenly loses motivation since he didn’t pay attention in class.

Nicole messages him out of the blue, thanking him for considering her and Lucas’ offer. Mark zones out for a moment, and then lets her know that his organization is happy to have them on board. As soon as Ronel enters the dorm, Mark puts his phone away and asks a question related to Ontology: When does a chair stop becoming a chair?

Ronel Roaming The Dormitory.

Ronel gets confused and leaves. Then, Mark pulls out his phone again and opens Nicole’s chat. Click on Older Messages to see messages from three years ago, including a picture of his dad playing golf. Once you’ve read the chat history, click the back button.

Checking Nicole’s Chat History.

Again, he opens Matchy, and after swiping three times, he sees Desiree’s profile. He wonders why she is using it, and suddenly, his chair collapses. Ronel arrives and says that Mark just answered his own question; the chair is not a chair anymore.

Desiree’s Matchy Profile.

As Mark tells how the chair broke, Ronel checks his phone (casually invading his privacy) and is startled. He shows Mark that he has found a match on Matchy, and it’s none other than Desiree. When he reveals that she’s the president of Mechie, Ronel believes that it’ll only make the organization’s environment weird for everyone.

Ronel Showing Mark His Match.

So, he leaves and tells Mark to break a leg with this match. With this, the night and this segment come to an end.

Sparkle Night

Mark Calming Himself Down.

The preparations for Sparkle Night are fast progressing. All nervous, Mark decides to visit the site and decides that if he sees Desiree, he doesn’t need to worry, as she’s just the president of Mechie, nothing more than that. Head left and talk to Trishia, and she will tell you that at least 100 tickets are still left.

Trishia Asking Mark’s Help To Sell Tickets.

She wants Mark to make a statement about last year’s incident, but he says everything is going to be okay. Now, move forward and talk to Caloy; it’s nothing but a conversation full of gibberish like Banana Ketchup.

Ahead, Dan talks to one of the artists’ managers and finalizes their booking for Sparkle Night. However, he reveals that another manager is missing, but Mark tells him to take the delegation’s assistance. Dan agrees and says he’s going to bother Jo about it.

Mark Talking To Dan.

After that, Mark meets with Mechie’s newest recruit and asks for his help to check the control booth. They make adjustments to the switches and lights to make the festival safer, but as the recruit feels disappointed with his work, he mentions his friend, who was injured during last year’s festival.

The Recruit And Mark Checking A Power Station.

He told his friend about Sparkle Night and feels responsible for their injuries. So, to make things right, he has joined the organization to help them set up a safe environment. Suddenly, he asks about Desiree, and Mark becomes anxious. He asks what’s wrong, and the recruit tells him that he has persuaded her to acknowledge last year’s incident, and she will address it during the closing speech.

Recruit Talking About His Friend Being Injured In Last Year’s Sparkle Night.

Mark becomes relieved, and they decide to check the other power stations until she returns. Time passes, and it’s time for Sparkle Night.

The Beginning Of Sparkle Night.

The crowd control seems to be perfect. Trishia announces that the walk-in tickets are sold out, and she returns to Dan and Mark. They try to get in touch with Caloy, but he doesn’t feel good. As they discuss, he and Desiree arrive and reveal that some of the shipments got mixed up; she was helping him.

Mark Talking To Caloy On Comms.

Before moving forward with the night, Desiree asks all the crew members about their tasks; they’re all done. However, when Trishia tries to ask her something, she cuts her off and says they’ll discuss it later. They finally kick things off, and this year, everything is working out great. People are enjoying themselves, and the crew is handling everything right on the dot.

As a band plays their song, Mark tells Dan to tell the emcee to take a one-minute ad break. Suddenly, Mark hears someone talking backstage and decides to check it. Walk right to see Desiree talking to her dad, who’s one of the founding members of their organization in the university. The tone of their conversation implies that Desiree’s ‘on the dot’ nature comes from him. He compliments this year’s event and asks them not to mess this up.

Mark Watching Desiree Talking With Her Dad.

He says that he’s counting on them, and leaves. Desiree notices Mark behind her, but chooses to ignore him and walk away. After a few more staggering hours, Sparkle Night comes to an end, and as Mark observes the crowd, Caloy tells him that she’s proud of their group, and the night went better than anyone could have expected. On the other end of the stage, they see Desiree, who’s now going to give her closing speech.

Caloy Asking Mark Whether He Likes Desiree.

The way Mark looks at her, Caloy can’t help but ask him if he’s into her. Mark tries to deny it, but Caloy remains persistent and says that he shouldn’t lie about his feelings. Suddenly, Desiree goes blank and remains quiet during the speech. To help her, Mark goes on stage, but every crew member tells him to stop and let her do her job.

Mark Saving Desiree’s Speech.

A choice of words will be given. Select Sparks 2019, and Mark will announce next year’s festival. Everyone cheers, but Trishia’s expression feels… off. Still, they manage to maneuver through this problem and end the night with more music. Post Sparkle Night, the crew decides to go for a party while Desiree’s father appreciates her efforts. However, Mark says that he can’t join them since he’s too tired.

A Sigh Of Relief.

Dan, Desiree, and Caloy leave, but within a few seconds, Desiree returns and tells Mark that she forgot something backstage. He decides to help her. When you’re free to control him, go left and check the documents in a black box. They’re not the documents she’s looking for, so check the most-left suitcase. Desiree reveals that she’s looking for her birth certificate, but it’s nothing but a gimmick.

Mark Looking For Desiree’s Item.

After checking a bundle of pages just above the suitcase, Desiree says that she wanted to waste time so she could meet her alone. They hesitate first, but when they finally look face to face, they both lean in for a kiss. The night ends. Suddenly, we see someone smoking, wondering if they said the right words. We can presume it’s Mark, as the next segment begins with a one-year time skip.

With this, our Until Then: Afterimages Chapter 2 Walkthrough Part 1 comes to an end; we’re halfway through.
