Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 Walkthrough – In Chains Of Lead And Gold

After following the voice in your head, you managed to make it out of the building and into the outside world. The final task in Chapter One was choosing a clan, which is an extremely important decision. Once you’ve made your choice, you’ll gain access to your ability tree and can unlock your first set of abilities.

The abilities you receive will depend on the clan you choose, so make sure to pick one that fits your preferred playstyle. The next chapter can be a bit complex, so in this guide, I’ll walk you through how to easily complete Chapter Two, In Chains of Lead and Gold, in Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines 2.

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is an action role-playing video game where your choices in dialogue matter. They can affect gameplay and your relationships with other characters. Depending on the choices you make, the ending of the game can change. This playthrough is based on the choices I made throughout my journey. That said, I tried to be positive in all of my encounters.

Unlock Your Abilities

quest's start in Bloodlines 2.

After picking your desired clan, you’ll be able to select your first abilities. For now, you can only unlock abilities from the clan you’ve chosen. Open your Ability Tree, and you’ll see a passive ability available. You have two ability points, so use one to unlock the clan’s passive.

Once the passive ability is unlocked, the rest of the skill tree will become visible. You can then spend your second point on an active ability. Choose one that only costs a single point, unlock it, and you’ll be ready to continue your journey.

Masquerade Meter Tip

The following is an explanation of how the Masquerade meter works, along with a useful tip:

The Masquerade meter in Bloodlines 2 can be breached if civilians witness you using vampire abilities. When the eye icon is open, it means you are using an ability and are at risk of being seen. However, if the eye is closed, there is nothing to worry about. It’s best to avoid using your abilities in public, though you can get away with it for a short duration.

Find Fabien’s Bar

Once you have unlocked your abilities and talked to Fabien, your objective will be updated to find his bar. Open the door of your room, then open the one with the dartboard. You can follow Fabien’s scent by activating your heightened senses. You will see a trail of red scent. Follow it, and you will need to go down the stairs.

You don’t have to take the stairs; you can simply drop down, and it won’t hurt. Keep following the scent (you can listen to the radio if you want), and you will need to open a door to go outside. After exiting the building, a pop-up will appear on your screen, telling you to avoid being seen by humans.

This is because if humans witness you as a vampire, the meter will fill up, causing trouble. So, deactivate your ability and follow the scent trail. You should still be able to see the trail faintly. Keep going to the left side, then enter the alleyway to your right.

Go straight, and you will notice the scent going upwards. Double jump to grab the steel pipe and use it to climb and reach the rooftop. Once you’re up, go straight and climb the vent just ahead. A bit further, you will notice a body without a head. Inspect it, and a cutscene will be triggered, featuring a new character, Benny Muldoon, ambushing you.

Benny in Bloodlines 2,

Fabien is familiar with him. After the cutscene ends, you will have a few dialogue options to choose from. I selected “You are out of your depth,” and Benny was amused by this. After that, I selected “You hunt them for sport?” and, after a while, the conversation ended.

Keep Following Fabien’s Scent

Now that Benny is gone, you can continue following Fabien’s scent. Activate your Heightened Senses again to track the trail. Follow it until you reach the ground. Don’t be afraid to jump down from buildings as you follow the scent. There will be civilians in the area, so make sure to deactivate your ability when they are nearby.

After entering the alleyway, keep following the scent, and you will need to climb another steel pipe. However, the pipe won’t take you all the way to the top, so you’ll need to double jump and grab onto the outer part of the AC unit. After that, the game will prompt you to jump again to reach the rooftop.

Climb the ladder to your left and continue following the scent. Once you’re at the top, the scent will lead straight down. Jump down and keep following the trail. Now that you’re back on the streets, be sure to deactivate your Heightened Senses ability.

Defeat The Ghouls

Keep following the scent, and eventually, you will enter another alleyway. Go through the open path between the chain-link fence. Ahead, you will face a ghoul. Use the new abilities you recently unlocked to quickly defeat the ghoul and continue following the scent.

Up ahead, there will be two more ghouls. Go left, straight, and then take a right.

You are most likely to be discovered by one of the ghouls, so immediately start attacking and take control of one. Then shift your focus to the other and finish him off quickly. Another ghoul in the area will approach once the fight begins. Make sure to use the feed mechanic, as it restores your health and activates your passive ability.

After that, follow the scent again. On the left side, after dropping down, there will be another ghoul. It will be standing next to a truck, so you can crouch and sneak up behind him for a stealth takedown.

There are two more containers ahead, and enemies near them may notice you after you eliminate the ghoul, so immediately hide behind the container.

There are four more ghouls in this area, and attracting all of them at once can be risky. However, you don’t need to worry too much about taking damage. Fight them head-on and keep using the feed mechanic to recover health. That said, you can still be attacked by other ghouls while performing the feeding animation, so make sure to time it carefully.

Stealthily Take Down The Rest Of The Ghouls

After defeating the ghouls in the area, keep following the scent, and you will eventually reach the location you need to enter. However, it is being guarded by a ghoul. Defeat him, then destroy the lock on the door.

After opening the door, pick up the Blood Elixir from the right (look for the red skull icon), and continue following the path to the right.

Tip

The following is a useful tip for you:

While I recommend taking down the ghouls stealthily, you do not have to. If you want to fight them head on, feel free to do so, but it will be much more challenging. That said, it is worth noting that regular attack takedowns will not refill your blood pips. So, it is better to use the feed option. This is because if you choose to go for a head-on battle, you will likely use more abilities. Also, you can refill your ability charges, but it is a rare item. So, I do not recommend using it too often. Instead, the Feed mechanic is a better option.

You will then enter a bar, but make sure to stay stealthy, as it is filled with ghouls. Crouch and approach the ghoul playing a game on the right side. Perform a stealth takedown on him, then immediately hide behind nearby cover.

A second ghoul patrols the path west of where you eliminated the first one. Wait for him to reach your side. Once he turns around, stay crouched and follow him from behind to perform another stealth takedown. Quickly hide again, as another ghoul may approach the body.

When the third ghoul investigates the corpse (or stays at its position), circle around him while staying crouched and perform a takedown from behind. After that, head to the left side, where another ghoul is standing. Approach him carefully and eliminate him with a stealth attack.

Just ahead, there will be one more ghoul. Deal with him quickly. There are also several throwable objects in the bar that you can use with Telekinesis to distract or damage ghouls.

Keep Following The Scent

Vampiric Sprint in in Bloodlines 2

After you have taken care of all the ghouls, activate the heightened senses ability again to follow the scent. It will lead you to a locked door to the west. Destroy the lock, go up the stairs, and continue following the scent.

If you lose track of it, you can briefly activate your heightened senses while in public. Doing so for just a moment won’t be suspicious enough for people to notice you.

Keep following the trail, and eventually, you will enter another alleyway. There, you will receive a pop-up informing you about the Vampiric Sprint ability. This ability allows you to sprint faster if you hold L1 or LB while moving. That said, if you are witnessed using this ability, the Masquerade meter will break.

Right now, you are in an alleyway. Use the ability and follow the scent. Go up the steel pipe, then jump down from the roof. Make sure you are not using any ability once you’re back in public view. Keep following the scent until you reach a door. Open it to enter a warehouse and continue following the trail.

Fabien will warn you that something is here, so stay alert. Keep following the scent, and you will come across another dead body. Upon interacting with the body, a fragment of Fabien’s memories will be revealed. Once the cutscene ends, you will have a conversation with Fabien.

For the first dialogue option, I selected “For what it is worth, I am sorry,” and Fabien appreciated that. After that, I chose “Perhaps you have power. Can he not be trusted?” from the next set of options. Now that you have discovered how Fabien entered your mind, it is time to move forward.

Meet Lou Graham At The Glacier Hotel

After talking to Fabien, your objective will be updated. You will now have to meet Lou Graham at the Glacier Hotel. Go back the way you came in, and the objective will be marked. Take a left, then a right, and keep following the path until you reach your destination. Eventually, you will come across a wooden door. Open it, and the objective will change to “Meet Lou Graham” as you are now already at the Glacier Hotel.

Lou Graham is not in the main hall, so go straight ahead and press the lift button to unlock it. Then, enter the elevator and select the “P” option on the right to go to the penthouse. Eventually, a cutscene will be triggered, featuring another memory reveal. The flashback shows Fabien’s visit to the Glacier Hotel with Rosalind and Lou.

Although this is a flashback, you will still need to keep the conversation going by selecting dialogue options. I selected “If I were to label it, well, I… um…” Shortly after that, the conversation will come to an end. The conversation does not end naturally, as once you select the dialogue, you will be brought back to the present as Phyre.

Find Lou Graham

After returning to the present, keep moving straight ahead, and you will notice some bodies scattered around. Take a right, then go up the stairs. After that, take another right and enter the room to your left. Approach the fireplace on the left side and interact with it to discover an Unfortunate Corpse.

Next, take a right and open the door in front of you. Before you do, a pop-up will appear, informing you that dialogue choices are important and can affect your relationships with others. Once you open the door, a cutscene featuring Lou Graham will begin.

Talk To Lou Graham

Lou in Bloodlines 2.

Upon talking to her, you will be given several dialogue options. Choose “I am new to your place and time.” as Lou will be pleased by that response. Avoid selecting “Do not insult me.” since it will leave Lou unimpressed. It’s better to maintain a positive impression.

Next, choose “The pleasure is all mine.” as Lou will find this amusing. From the following set of options, if you choose “I would meet your Prince,” Lou will be disappointed. Instead, select “Interesting times?” to keep the conversation flowing positively.

You will then have the chance to ask her some questions. Doing so will help clear up your confusion about the current situation. If you do not want to ask more questions, you can simply select “I must see the Prince.” However, if you go through all the optional dialogue choices, you will unlock a new option: “Will you introduce me to your childe?”

At the end, you will be given the following dialogue options:

  • “Tell me about yourself.” (This will please Lou, so it’s the best choice.)
  • “Why are you no longer Prince?” (Lou will be annoyed, so it is best to avoid this one.)
  • “You had a sister…” (Lou will be irritated by this, so avoid it.)
  • “I will take my leave.” (This will end the conversation.)

Some of these options appear only after choosing “Tell me about yourself.” or depending on the previous questions you’ve asked. The list above includes only those that trigger a noticeable reaction or end the conversation.

Meet Prince Ryong At Weaver Tower

elevator in Bloodlines 2.

After you are done talking to Lou, it is time to head back. Approach the elevator, return to the ground floor, and exit the hotel. Before you can leave, Ysabella Moore will block your path. Upon approaching her, a cutscene will be triggered.

From the first dialogue options, it is recommended to select “A pleasure.” as this will please her. You will also get an additional option, “Toreador, I assume.” However, this option does not trigger any reaction, so it is better to go with the one mentioned above.

In the next set of dialogue choices, select “Perhaps I will.” to further please her. After that, you will have the choice to either lie to her or tell the truth. In my playthrough, I chose to lie.

Once the conversation ends, your objective will be to meet Prince Ryong at the Weaver Tower. However, upon exiting the hotel, the quest will be completed.

With this, Chapter Two: In Chains of Lead and Gold in Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 will conclude. You will receive 2250 XP, and the next quest, The Fires of Industry, will begin.
