Bloodlines 2 Keep the Peace Walkthrough – Complete Guide (All Endings + 3 Sub-Quests)

Safia in Bloodlines 2

This complete Bloodlines 2 walkthrough covers Keep the Peace, the sixth main quest featuring three mandatory sub-quests: Taste and Discretion, Turning Down the Heat, and The Dutiful Beloved. This guide includes all dialogue choices that affect your ending, strategies for identifying wealthy melancholic victims for Nix, tactics for preventing Masquerade breaches, and how to complete all objectives. Your decisions in these quests directly impact which of the six game endings you receive, making this a critical chapter in your playthrough.

Disclaimer

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is an action role-playing video game where your choices in dialogue matter. They can affect gameplay and your relationships with other characters. Depending on the choices you make, the ending of the game can change. This playthrough is based on the choices I made throughout my journey. That said, I tried to be positive in all of my encounters.

Selecting Your Quest – Three Paths Available

After completing A Star of Cold Aspect, you will be tasked with selecting a quest from the map. There will be three quests you can select, so choose any you want. I went with Taste and Discretion as the first, and I will provide a walkthrough for that first. The other two quests in Bloodlines 2, as part of Keep the Peace, are Turning Down the Heat and The Dutiful Beloved.

Taste and Discretion Quest Walkthrough

Glacier Hotel in Bloodlines 2.

After completing A Star of Cold Aspect, exit the Weaver Tower and select Taste and Discretion from the map. Open the map and choose the quest available in the Glacier Hotel. Once selected, follow the quest marker to reach the hotel. Since the distance is not short, I recommend using the alleyways to take advantage of your vampiric abilities and move faster.

You can also travel across the rooftops. Upon reaching the Glacier Hotel, open the door, and you will need to meet with Lou. Onda will be standing in the middle, next to a wooden pillar, so approach and talk to her. After speaking with her, you will receive several dialogue options to choose from.

If you are from the Lasombra clan, talking to her will not be beneficial. She is one of the contacts who can help you unlock more abilities. However, if you are already part of the Lasombra clan, this will not help since she specifically assists with unlocking abilities from that clan. You can still talk to her, but it is not necessary.

If you are not from the Lasombra clan, you can ask her to help you unlock your power. Once you have finished talking to her, it is time to meet with Lou.

Meeting Lou at Glacier Hotel

After talking to Onda, head to the elevator and press the button inside. Next, go to the fireplace, where you will find Lou standing nearby. As you approach her, a conversation will start, and you will immediately receive several dialogue options. I chose “I am here, as commanded.” and she liked it. Then, I selected “Hear what?” which disturbed her a bit, but it is fine to choose this option.

After that, you will get more dialogue options to choose from. You can select “Tell me of the Gangrel,” as she will appreciate this response. From here, you can either ask her more questions or simply leave. Once you leave, the quest will officially begin.

Finding Nix in the Lobby

After talking to Lou, your next task is to meet with Nix, who can be found in the hotel lobby. Take the elevator down and head straight ahead. Just past the Merry Christmas sign, you will find Nix. Approach and interact with him to start a conversation. Shortly after, you will get several dialogue options to choose from.

I chose “A Gangrel in the city?” and, without much reaction, the conversation continued. After a while, you will receive more dialogue choices. You can either ask Nix additional questions or simply select “Let us get on with the task” to proceed. Once you choose that option, the conversation will end, and you will be tasked with identifying some wealthy, melancholic victims for Nix.

Identifying Wealthy Melancholic Victims

Purple aura NPC showing partial blood resonance for marking wealthy melancholic victims Bloodlines 2

There is no point in searching inside the hotel, as you will need to explore Seattle to find the victims. Exit the hotel, and you will receive a pop-up explaining Partial Blood Resonance. You can use your Heightened Senses to locate humans pulsing with partial blood resonance.

In my playthrough, I found one north of the hotel, but that may not be the case with you. The rest of the two I found in different locations. Finding the victims is not difficult, but you may not encounter them in the same locations, so it is best to search the area independently.

Use your Heightened Senses, and you will notice some people glowing red or golden. These are not the humans you are looking for. You are specifically searching for people who are glowing purple or emitting a purple aura. It may not be as bright as the red or golden ones, but you will recognize it when you see it.

When you spot a human emitting a purple aura, approach them and start a conversation. You only need to select the option (Mark for Lou). The humans may react with annoyance or fear, but that does not matter since you are not there to build a relationship with them. Simply find three humans emitting a purple aura and mark them for Lou. Once marked, the person will begin to emit a golden aura.

You may also come across people emitting a pink aura. You can talk to them, but you will not get the option to mark them. Since interacting with them does not help, it is better to ignore them and continue your search.

How to Identify Wealthy Melancholic Victims For Nix

This is a key objective in the Taste and Discretion quest. Nix needs you to find three wealthy individuals with a melancholic disposition so Lou can feed on them later.

Understanding the Mechanic:
The game introduces Partial Blood Resonance for this quest. Unlike full blood resonance (which shows red or golden auras), you’re looking for NPCs with purple auras that indicate partial melancholic resonance.

Step-by-Step Process:

  1. Exit the Glacier Hotel and head into Seattle’s streets
  2. Activate Heightened Senses (your vampiric detection ability)
  3. Scan NPCs as you walk around – most will glow red or golden
  4. Look for purple/violet glowing auras – these are your targets
  5. Don’t confuse with pink auras – some NPCs emit pink, but these can’t be marked
  6. Approach purple-aura NPCs and interact with them
  7. Select “(Mark for Lou)” from the dialogue options
  8. The NPC’s aura turns golden after marking, confirming success
  9. Repeat for three total victims

Best Hunting Locations:

While victims can appear throughout Seattle, concentrate your search in:

  • North of Glacier Hotel – often spawns at least one victim
  • Main streets and squares – higher NPC density
  • Business districts – wealthy NPCs more common here

Important Notes:

  • You cannot find victims inside the Glacier Hotel – you must search Seattle’s streets
  • The purple aura is less bright than red/golden auras – look carefully
  • Victims may be in different locations each playthrough
  • Some NPCs may react with annoyance or fear when marked – this is normal
  • You only need to mark them, not feed on them – Lou handles that later
  • Using alleyways and Vampiric Sprint makes traveling between areas faster

Common Mistakes to Avoid:

  • Don’t waste time talking to red-aura or golden-aura NPCs
  • Don’t try to mark pink-aura NPCs – they’re not valid targets
  • Don’t search inside buildings – victims are only on the streets
  • Don’t feed on the victims after marking – just mark and move on

Once you’ve successfully marked three wealthy melancholic victims, return to Nix at the Glacier Hotel to complete this objective and receive 1,500 EXP.

Returning to Nix for Reward

Once you have marked three wealthy victims, it is time to return to Nix. Follow the quest marker, and to reach your destination faster, use the alleyways. When you arrive at the Glacier Hotel, open the door, and Nix will be standing in the same spot as before.

Approach and talk to Nix, and you will be given several dialogue options. I chose “Here are the items,” and Nix appreciated that. If you choose “I have done Lou’s dirty work,” Nix will seem bored by your response. After that, I selected “What does it mean to you?” and shortly afterward, the conversation ended.

With that, you will complete the Taste and Discretion quest in Bloodlines 2. As a reward, you will receive 1,500 EXP. Now that you have finished this quest, you have two more remaining.

Turning Down the Heat Quest Walkthrough

Once you have finished Taste and Discretion, exit the tower and select the next quest from the map. I selected Turning Down The Heat and will provide you with a thorough walkthrough.

Meeting Katsumi at Hole in the Wall

Katsumi at Hole in the Wall bar during Turning Down the Heat quest Bloodlines 2
Katsumi, during a cutscene in Bloodlines 2, Turning Down the Heat, a part of the Keep the Peace quest.

Upon leaving the tower, a pop-up will appear explaining Partial Blood Resonance in more detail. It essentially describes how the mechanic works. You can anger, seduce, or intimidate people with partial resonance to turn it into full resonance. After that, select the Turning Down the Heat quest from the map.

Follow the quest marker, and once you reach the location, go down the stairs and enter through the door. Katsumi will be sitting on one of the chairs just ahead. Approach her to begin a conversation. Shortly after it starts, you will receive three dialogue options. I chose “I would be grateful for aid,” and Katsumi appreciated that. She will also react positively if you choose “I want your perspective.”

Next, I selected “What do you mean, special?”, but if you choose “Why should they not burn?” Katsumi will be angered by that response. After that, you will have three more options to choose from. Two of them are optional questions that you can ask to unlock additional dialogue. However, you can also proceed directly by selecting “I will help you,” followed by “We can work together,” which Katsumi will appreciate. To finish the conversation, I chose “I will do this to help you,” and Katsumi was pleased with that response.

Once the conversation ends, the quest will officially begin, and your task will be to prevent a Masquerade breach at St. Stephens.

Preventing Masquerade Breach at St. Stephens

After you have finished talking to Katsumi, it is time to head out. Follow the quest marker, and when you reach approximately 70 meters, you will need to enter through the steel gate, which will be open. Just ahead, you will see a Lake View sign above an entrance, and your objective will be updated. This is a time-sensitive quest, giving you five minutes to prevent the Masquerade breach.

St Stephens Masquerade breach location with ghouls in Bloodlines 2 Keep the Peace

Go through the entrance, and you will encounter a ghoul just ahead. Use your Telekinesis ability to attract it toward you and take it down quickly. Once it is stunned, perform the feed mechanic, then shift your focus to the other ghouls. You need to defeat seven ghouls in total, and with how powerful Phyre is at this stage, handling them should not be a problem. Use your abilities to defeat as many ghouls as possible.

One of the ghouls will be carrying a shotgun. Make sure to target it first, and then you can use the shotgun to attack the other ghouls. All seven ghouls will be in the area, and you have five minutes to defeat them. It will not be too challenging. Make sure to restore your health and recharge your abilities by feeding on the ghouls as needed.

Preventing Masquerade Breach at Volunteer Park

This time, the clock will already be ticking, so you will need to hurry to reach the next location. As you approach Volunteer Park, the quest marker may disappear. Do not worry, just continue in the same direction. You may also notice some civilians running away. The police may already be fighting the ghouls, so exercise extra caution. There is a brick tower in the park with Phyre’s Mark. Use your Heightened Senses to make it visible.

Phyre's Mark in Turning Down the Heat, a part of the Keep the Peace quest in Bloodlines 2.
Phyre’s Mark in Turning Down the Heat, a part of the Keep the Peace quest in Bloodlines 2.

If you defeat the ghouls in front of the police, you could cause a Masquerade breach yourself, so be careful. There will not be many officers in the park, so even if you breach the Masquerade, it is unlikely to have major consequences, as the ghouls are likely to kill the police anyway.

Volunteer Park frozen fountain area during Masquerade breach prevention Bloodlines 2

If you don’t see ghouls at the beginning, then all of them will be near the Frozen Fountain. Head to the middle of the park, where you will encounter many ghouls along with a large one carrying a shotgun. Defeat him and take his shotgun to defeat the other ghouls. With this, you will successfully prevent the Masquerade breach at Volunteer Park.

Preventing Masquerade Breach at Max’s Auto Repair

After preventing the Masquerade breach at Volunteer Park, you will immediately be tasked with preventing one at Max’s Auto Repair. This location is 500 meters away, so I recommend using the Vampiric Sprint along the way. You will come across some alleyways, so make sure to take advantage of them.

On the way, you will notice The Bet of Night sign, and just ahead, there will be a path to the right. Enter the alleyway, where you will encounter five ghouls. Since the location is a bit far, your task is to defeat these five ghouls. Use Telekinesis to pull one of them toward you and finish it quickly.

Then use your abilities to take out two more, leaving only two remaining. Be careful with the large ghoul, as it hits hard and has a slam attack that deals significant damage. Try to defeat it with one of your more powerful abilities first. Do note that there are a couple of Thin-Blood Anarchs here who are quite a pain to deal with. They are fast and dodge a lot. So, if you have an ability that deals AoE damage, it will be quite useful here. There is also a Phyre’s Mark on the left side.

Once all five ghouls are defeated, you will have successfully prevented the Masquerade breach at Max’s Auto Repair. Your objective will then be updated to check up on Max.

Checking on Max and Reporting to Katsumi

After defeating the ghouls, interact with the shutter door of the auto repair shop and enter the room to your left. Upon entering, a conversation with Max will be triggered, and shortly after, you will get several dialogue options. I selected “The problem is dealt with,” and Max appreciated that. Next, I chose “Make it up with Katsumi,” and Max was interested in that option.

If you choose the other option, Max will resent it. Once your conversation with Max is over, it is time to return to Katsumi. Hole In The Wall is not far, so make your way there and enter. Katsumi will be sitting in the same spot, and approaching her will trigger a conversation.

Katsumi in Bloodlines 2.

You will have a few dialogue options to choose from. I selected “Your enemies are dealt with,” which Katsumi liked. You can then ask her a few questions or simply leave. If you talk to her about Max, she will be intrigued, and asking more questions will unlock additional dialogue options. Before leaving, select “I respect your opinion” to please her. After leaving, the Turning Down the Heat quest in Bloodlines 2 will be complete.

Now, you just have one last quest left before you can proceed with concluding the Keep the Peace quest in Bloodlines 2.

The Dutiful Beloved Quest Walkthrough

The Dutiful Beloved quest in Bloodlines 2

After completing the Turning Down the Heat quest in Bloodlines 2, it is time to proceed with the final quest, The Dutiful Beloved. Open your map and select the quest. Once selected, follow the quest marker and head to Wake The Dead.

Before continuing, it may be worth checking if you can unlock your last ability. By this point, you may already have three ability points, so make sure to see if you can unlock your final power.

Meeting Safia at Wake The Dead Cafe

Safia at Wake the Dead cafe during The Dutiful Beloved quest Bloodlines 2

Follow the quest marker, and you will come across an alleyway along the way. Use it to your advantage and activate Vampiric Sprint to reach the location faster. Wake the Dead cafe is located in an alleyway on the left side. Open the door to enter, and you will notice an old woman behind the cash counter. Talk to her, as she can help you unlock your power.

If you selected the Tremere clan, there is no need to speak with her. However, if you belong to any other clan, it is worth having a conversation with Mrs. Thorn. Once your conversation with her is over, go to the left side, where Safia will be sitting at a small table. She will also call you over, triggering a conversation.

You will be given several dialogue options. I selected “Finally, some time alone,” and Safia loved that. Choosing “What stories have you heard?” is also fine, as she will be pleased with that. Next, I chose “I am listening,” which Safia also liked.

After a while, several more options will appear, three of which are optional questions. You can simply select “I will find your retainers” to finish the conversation for now. If you choose all of the optional questions, you will unlock a new dialogue option, “Thank you for your trust.” Safia will also be embarrassed if you select “I was hoping just to chat.”

Rescuing the First Ghoul

Rescuing Safias ghouls from white van in The Dutiful Beloved Bloodlines 2

Once the conversation is over, the quest will begin, and you will need to rescue Safia‘s ghouls. Exit the cafe and head toward the quest marker. When you reach the location, you will notice a number of Anarchs in the area. You can use stealth to take out one or two ghouls before causing a larger conflict.

Phyre is breaking the lock in The Dutiful Beloved, a part of the Keep the Peace quest in Bloodlines 2

There is also a large ghoul in the area, so I recommend defeating it first. This ghoul carries a shotgun, which you can use to your advantage. After defeating the ghouls, approach the back of the white van and break the lock. Doing so will rescue one of Safia‘s ghouls.

There are still two more ghouls left, so follow the quest marker again to continue the rescue.

Rescuing the Second Ghoul

Upon reaching the location, you will have to fight more ghouls. This time, you can climb on top of the building and strategically position yourself above a ghoul to take him down. Use this tactic on the large ghoul to deal at least half of its health. The big ghoul in this area wields a sledgehammer, so defeat him first, then shift your focus to the others.

Safia's ghoul in Bloodlines 2.

It may be difficult to position yourself and attack the ghoul from above. You can fight them head on so don’t worry about being stealthy. Use your abilities to defeat them, as they can be difficult to handle otherwise. Remember to use the feed mechanic to restore your health and recharge your abilities.

After defeating all the ghouls, follow the quest marker to locate the van, and then break the lock to continue the rescue.

Rescuing The Third Ghoul

After rescuing the second ghoul, the third one will be nearby. Since both locations are close, it won’t be too surprising if you have already defeated some of the ghouls from the previous area. If you have not, it will not be difficult, as there will only be a couple of them here. Quickly defeat the large ghoul first, then take care of the remaining one. You can use the sledgehammer to quickly eliminate at least one ghoul, so make sure to use it to your advantage.

Once all the ghouls are defeated, follow the quest marker and destroy the van’s lock to rescue the last ghoul. Then, it is time to return to Safia.

Returning to Safia

Follow the quest marker, enter the cafe, and approach Safia, who will be in the same spot. This will trigger a conversation.

Shortly after, you will get several dialogue options. I chose “Has something happened?” and followed it with “Sorry for your loss,” which Safia appreciated. Then, I selected “Tell me about yourself,” which embarrassed her, while choosing “I could tell you my story?” made her excited.

Safia in Bloodlines 2

You can also select the optional dialogue options, but do not select “This is your burden,” as it will immediately end the conversation, and Safia will be disappointed. After choosing all of them, a new dialogue, “The great fire…” will become available. Selecting this will unlock an additional line, “It was pleasant to talk,” which Safia appreciated when chosen.

After your conversation with Safia is finished, The Dutiful Beloved quest in Bloodlines 2 will be concluded. You will be rewarded with 1,500 EXP.

Now that you have finished all three quests in Bloodlines 2, it is time to finish Keep the Peace, which won’t take long.

Completing Keep the Peace – Rest at the Haven

Side Quest Warning Before Resting

Keep the Peace quest marker in Bloodlines 2 on the map.
Keep the Peace quest marker in Bloodlines 2 on the map.

After completing the three quests, Turning Down The Heat, Taste and Discretion, and The Dutiful Beloved, in Bloodlines 2, you will receive the first objective for Keep the Peace. However, note that you will also get a warning stating that any incomplete side quests will become unavailable.

If you decide to continue with the main quest immediately, it will prevent you from completing many side quests. Unless you interact with your bed at the haven, you can still do the side quests.

Conversation with Fabien

Once you have made your decision or finished the side quests, interact with the bed. Upon entering the room, a conversation with Fabien will begin. You will then be presented with dialogue options. I chose “I mean what I say,” which Fabien appreciated. Most of the other options will not get any reaction.

However, if you select all of the optional dialogue options, a new option, “Useful thoughts. Thank you,” will appear. If you choose this, Fabien will appreciate it, and the Keep the Peace quest in Bloodlines 2 will be completed.

Bloodlines 2 Keep the Peace – Tips and Strategies

Combat Tips for Masquerade Breaches

Best Abilities to Use:

  • Telekinesis – Essential for pulling ghouls toward you for quick takedowns
  • Feed mechanic – Always feed on stunned enemies to restore health and recharge abilities
  • AoE abilities – Effective against groups of ghouls at Volunteer Park and Max’s Auto Repair

Weapon Priority:

  • Always target large ghouls with weapons first (shotgun, sledgehammer)
  • Take their weapons immediately to use against remaining enemies
  • Shotguns are especially effective for clearing multiple ghouls quickly

Time Management:

  • You have 5 minutes for each Masquerade breach
  • Use Vampiric Sprint and alleyways to reach locations faster
  • Don’t waste time being stealthy – focus on quick elimination

Dialogue Choice Strategy

For Multiple Endings Playthrough: If you plan to play through multiple times for different endings, note your choices in Keep the Peace:

Lou Ending Route:

  • Taste and Discretion: “I am here, as commanded” and “Tell me of the Gangrel”
  • Turning Down the Heat: Don’t send Max to Katsumi
  • Be hostile to other faction leaders in other quests

Katsumi Ending Route:

  • Turning Down the Heat: “I would be grateful for aid” and send Max to Katsumi
  • A Plaything Discarded: Be positive to Max and Katsumi
  • Be neutral or hostile to Lou in other quests

Companion Ending Route:

  • The Dutiful Beloved: “Finally, some time alone,” “I am listening,” complete all optional dialogue
  • Never choose “This is your burden”
  • Complete companion side quests

Ability Unlock Optimization

By this point in the game, you should have three ability points. Consider unlocking your final clan ability before starting the three sub-quests, as the additional power helps significantly with the Masquerade breach combat sections.

Check for Ability Unlocks:

  • Onda at Glacier Hotel – unlocks Lasombra abilities
  • Mrs. Thorn at Wake The Dead – unlocks Tremere abilities

Side Quest Timing

Critical Warning: When you rest at your haven to complete Keep the Peace, you’ll receive a warning that incomplete side quests become unavailable.

Recommended Strategy:

  1. Complete all three sub-quests
  2. Do NOT rest at haven yet
  3. Fast travel around Seattle to complete any remaining side quests
  4. Check your quest log thoroughly
  5. Only then return to haven and rest to progress

Side Quests to Prioritize Before Resting:

  • Any companion-specific quests
  • Exploration objectives
  • Collection quests

Once you interact with the bed, there’s no going back to incomplete content.
