Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is a choice-based game, and it has around 30 chapters. The game takes a lot of time to beat, so a 100 percent completion can be even more time-consuming. If you want to know more about the game and read its reviews, you can head over to its official Steam page. There, you can also interact with its community.

The next quest on your list is now To Founder on the Lethe. This is the 12th main quest in the game and is quite a complicated one. You would have to find a certain someone. This includes a lot of traveling, unraveling, and solving puzzles. Here, I will thoroughly guide you on how to complete Chapter 12, To Founder on the Lethe, in Bloodlines 2.

Depending on the choices you make, the ending of the game can change. This playthrough is based on the choices I made throughout my journey. That said, I tried to be positive in all of my encounters.


Rest At Haven

After talking to Prince Ryong and Tally at the Weaver Tower during the A Work of Holy Innocents quest, you will be tasked with resting at the haven. However, as you are about to leave the Weaver Tower, Tally will suddenly appear, and a conversation will be triggered.

Once this conversation ends, you will not have the same objective anymore, as Tally has interrupted the previous one, which is intended. In the conversation with Tally, I selected “What do you need?” and “Explain.” Then, the objective was updated to meet William at South Main Street Parking.

After talking to Tally, exit the building and select the quest from the map. It will be on the complete opposite side of the map, so select it and start heading toward the quest marker. It will be over 700 meters away, so traveling may take a bit more time than usual. However, you can take advantage of the alleyways in between to use your Vampiric Sprint.

Once you reach the construction site, climb the wall, jump to the other side, and follow the path. Now, you have to travel via the roofs, so be sure to stay at the top. Shortly after, you will need to perform a Vampiric Sprint and a Glide to reach the other side.

Keep going toward the quest marker from the roofs, and eventually, when you glide over to the last one, you will notice a few ghouls at the location. There will be one ghoul with a Uzi who is pretty fast and can be troublesome. Make sure to take him out first, then focus on the others. There will be a lot of ghouls, and some of them can take out a chunk of your health, so be careful and don’t hesitate to use your abilities.

Once you have defeated all of the ghouls on the rooftop, open the elevator door. After opening the door, jump down, and your objective will be updated.

Find Willem’s Haven

After jumping down, get out, and you will notice a red light to your right. Approach it, but be stealthy, as there are some ghouls ahead. Crouch and move toward the red light, and you will notice a truck (on the right side of the truck, there is a Phyre’s Mark, so make sure to grab it). Hide behind it, and a ghoul is likely to approach the truck. Perform a stealth takedown and do the same with the others. Even if you are spotted, there is nothing to worry about, as there aren’t that many ghouls in the area.

After defeating the ghouls, go down from the left side, and just ahead, you will notice more ghouls. This time, there will be more of them in the parking lot. However, given how powerful you are, there shouldn’t be any problem. Do note that more and more ghouls will keep coming from below.

Once you have taken care of them, make your way down, and you will see a big hole in the ground. You would have recently defeated a big ghoul with a sledgehammer. Pick up his hammer and throw it toward the ghoul you see through the hole. After that, jump down and move to the left side. There will be one more ghoul there, so defeat it and then open the door with Exit written on it (you will need to destroy the lock).

After you have destroyed the lock, go downstairs (you can go upstairs to obtain the Phyre’s Mark) and open the green door with “Danger” written on it. After entering, you will need to solve a puzzle to proceed further.

There are a total of three levers that you can interact with. The best part about this is that you don’t have to approach them. You can simply use your telekinesis powers to interact with them. That said, before doing anything, go ahead and take a left. There, you will find a blood elixir, so grab that first.

After you have picked up the blood elixir, it is time to solve the puzzle. This puzzle is simpler than you might imagine, so don’t overcomplicate things. You don’t have to activate the levers in a specific order, which should be a solid hint for you to solve it yourself.

However, if you still don’t understand it, disregard the fact that your character is a vampire. Think of him as a human. Now, would a human be able to activate all of them quickly? No, there is no way. But thanks to the telekinesis power of Phyre, you can do that. So, do the same, and upon activating them quickly, you will unlock the container. Enter inside, fall down, and continue ahead.

Search For Clues To Willem’s Location

There, you will find some items you can interact with. You will also find a Fortitude Elixir, so make sure to pick it up. There are three things you can interact with for clues: a newspaper on the couch, a photo on top of the piano, and an open book placed under the lamp.

Once you have searched for the clues in the area, your objective will be updated to search for him at the Wake the Dead Cafe.

After finding the clues, go back and climb the ladder. Then, head straight, and just ahead will be the exit door. However, as soon as you try to open the door, some enemies will approach you. Fabien will let you know to watch your back, and that will be the cue for the enemies to appear.

An unarmed ghoul will approach you from behind and attack. This one has more health than your normal ghouls and has a strange attack pattern, using its claws to strike you. Once you have defeated this ghoul, go back to the exit door and break the lock. After that, head up and enter the door with “Danger” written on it. Then, go ahead and take a left to exit the building.

Once you are out, follow the quest marker, and when you reach the location, enter the car. Upon entering, your objective will change to search for Willem.

Search For Willem

After entering the cafe, you will notice Mrs. Thorn at the cash counter. Approach her, and you can unlock a new ability if you want to. After that, on the right side, Safia is sitting and reading a book. Talk to her, and some dialogue options will appear.

If you want to romance Safia in Bloodlines 2, I would not recommend selecting “Tell me where Willem is,” as Safia will be intimidated by that.

Instead, choose “I am looking for someone,” as Safia will be interested in this. After that, you will talk for a bit, and more dialogue options will appear. Select “It is noble of you,” as Safia will be pleased by this. Then, when she asks you to promise to protect Willem, choose “I promise,” and Safia will appreciate it.

With these dialogue choices, you will be on her good side, which will help if you want to romance her. However, if you do not want to pursue that path, you can choose any other option.

Search For Willem At The Plastics Factory

Now that Safia has told you the location of Willem, it is time to leave the cafe and follow the quest marker. You need to head to the Plastics Factory, so follow the marker until you reach the area. Make sure to take advantage of any alleyways along the way to speed up your travel.

Once you are about 50 meters away, the quest marker will disappear, but you are close enough that it should not matter. Use your heightened senses to discover a Phyre’s Mark on the brick wall to your right.

There are several ghouls patrolling the area, so you need to be careful. I recommend climbing to the other side from the east and then crouching as you approach the ghoul standing ahead. There would be more ghouls, but you can come back and hide behind some objects. This way, you can take out two or three ghouls and maybe even damage the big one. I chose the Lasombra clan, so it was easier for me to take them out stealthily.

Defeat The Ghouls

There are a lot of ghouls in the area, so stealth may not be an option. If you attract attention, your only choice is to fight. An AoE ability will be very useful here, as many low-health ghouls will swarm you. Using your AoE on them is likely to clear most of them quickly.

There is also a big ghoul who can control blood, which can be troublesome. Focusing on him can be difficult when you are surrounded by so many smaller ghouls. Make sure to feed on the ghouls if your health gets low. I recommend using the guns dropped by defeated ghouls, as this will speed up taking down the rest.

There are three big ghouls in total, so using the guns on them is ideal. Again, there are more ghouls here than you have faced before in Bloodlines 2, so proceed with caution. After defeating the ghouls, look for a large entrance to the other side. Go through it, and you will notice even more ghouls ahead.

I recommend approaching from the left and taking out the ghouls from above. Take out one from the top, preferably the marked ghoul, and then use the weapon it drops to finish off the other one. The remaining one is likely to be a big ghoul, so you may not defeat him completely, but you can take a significant chunk of his health. Once he is defeated, the quest marker will reappear. Follow it, destroy the lock, and enter the area.

Search For Willem

After you open the door, a loading screen will appear, and shortly after, you will be inside the factory. Once you are in, go to the left and follow the path. Then, enter the room to your right, and on top of the table, there will be something to interact with.

After interacting with it, continue following the path. Eventually, you will reach an area with red lights. Keep going forward and then enter through the door to your left. Go inside, head north, go up the stairs, and you will see a room ahead. Enter the room, and there will be an elixir underneath the table.

To reach Willem in Bloodlines 2, Chapter 12, To Founder on the Lethe, go north from here and head up the stairs.

After picking up the elixir, go out and head up the stairs. Then follow the pathway, and shortly, Willem will come into view. Approach him, and a cutscene will be triggered.

Ask Willem About The Mark

Shortly after the cutscene, a conversation will begin, and you will be given some dialogue options to choose from. I chose “Is everything all right?” as Willem respected that. After that, Willem will be confused for a moment and then suddenly scream at Phyre, sending him back to the entrance of the Plastics Factory.

Find Willem

After Willem teleports you back to the entrance, your objective will change back to finding him. Start following the same path, and you will eventually reach the hallway with red lights. Enter the room to your left, and now everything will be different. Upon entering the room, you will notice that there are now ghouls you have to fight.

At the front will be a marked ghoul, so make quick work of him. After that, a big ghoul with a giant hammer will appear. More ghouls will come to attack you, but it will not be like it was outside. They will come in batches, giving you enough time to defeat the ones that are already there before the new ones arrive.

More marked ghouls will appear, but you need to be most careful of the one dressed completely differently from the rest. He uses claws to attack and has far more health than your average ghoul. That said, the other marked ghouls will have guns, which you can use to your advantage. Also, don’t forget to use the feed mechanic to restore your health.

After you have defeated all the ghouls, you will notice that the last one does not go down, no matter how many times you punch it. Use the feed mechanic, and it will turn out to be Willem. He will then scream at you again, sending you back to the entrance.

Find Willem Again

Now that he has teleported you again, you have no choice but to go back. Fabien suggests that this is not teleportation but a hallucination, and you will soon understand what he means. Once you are there, you will notice that instead of ghouls, there are now dolls. You need to defeat them all.

There are a lot of dolls, and defeating any of them creates a weird aftereffect, making it feel even more like a hallucination. As mentioned before, there are a lot of dolls. At the bottom and at the top, they are everywhere. However, these dolls do very little damage and die very easily. Most can be defeated with only three normal punches or a single charged punch.

Willem will be the last doll left in Bloodlines 2, Chapter 12, To Founder on the Lethe.

After defeating a large number of dolls, you gain the feed mechanic on one of them, who is actually Willem. Use the feed mechanic, and he will scream at you again, sending you back to the entrance. I know this is getting annoying, but this is the last time he will send you back, I promise :p. Go back, and this time you will notice the area is much weirder. You will see floating objects and hear Willem talking to someone about you.

Once you enter the main hall, you will see Willem talking to a doll, but the strange thing is that there are many Willems talking to many dolls.

How To Find Willem

First Gramophone Location

What you are seeing is a hallucination, so you need to find the real Willem. These voices are preventing you from hearing something. They are completely blocking that sound, but when you enter heightened senses mode, you can hear the music clearly. Now, you need to find a gramophone. Head north, and ahead, you will notice a painting on the floor.

Right next to the painting is a box. Use your heightened senses to discover a gramophone on top of it. While in heightened senses mode, look at the gramophone and it will disappear. Your crosshair will also turn red. Then, to the left, you will notice a pink light. Use your heightened senses again to discover the gramophone. Look at it while being close, and it will disappear.

Once you have done that, go to the stairs on the left near the entrance. Go up, and just ahead at the top of the filing cabinet, you will find another gramophone. Make it disappear again.

Fourth Gramophone Location

After that, it will appear near the entrance on the top right side. Then, you can find on the top of the boxes on the platform, around the middle of the area. Make it disappear, and then return to the room where you first met Willem.

There, you will find the gramophone as well as Willem. However, you need to be in heightened senses mode. Upon reaching Willem, you will get two options: attack or feed. Choose the feed mechanic, and you will return to reality.

Talk To Willem

After returning to reality, you will notice that Willem has a bomb vest connected to a phone. Now, you need to calm him down, but that may not be possible even with the dialogue options that seem correct. I chose “I can help you, Willem” as Willem appreciated that. Following that, I chose “There is still hope for you,” and while Willem admired this, the bomb still went off.

After that, you will get The Burning of the Books regardless of the dialogue choices you made. Once the conversation is over, you will be back in the sunflower fields as Fabien. While Chapter 12, To Founder on the Lethe, in Bloodlines 2 has concluded, you will not receive your rewards just yet.

This is because you are now playing as Fabien, and you will receive your reward after this quest featuring the past is finished. Since the bomb went off, Phyre is now seemingly unconscious, so it makes sense for Fabien to appear, as we have only done his quests whenever Phyre was sleeping.
