Where Winds Meet is full of content and things to do, but the most important of them is the main story quest. The game’s main story is vast and revolves around the main character discovering the secrets of their identity, while also exploring the land and meeting new and dangerous people. For more information on Where Winds Meet, you can check out their official website here.
Chapter One: Heaven Has No Pier is the first main story quest, and it is divided into several parts. We’ll be covering some of the first few sections in Part 1, while the remaining sections will be covered in Part 2 of the walkthrough.
Table of contents
Arrival And Introduction
As the game begins, you’re playing the role of a mysterious figure clad in blue robes. This figure is called Jiang Yan, and he’s carrying an infant child with them. Jaing Yan meets with Chen Zixi, a man wearing white robes, and the two of them run away together after they’re ambushed by the forces of evil.
There will be a short escape scene on horseback, where you’ll have to use your bow to bring down enemies that have been chasing you until you reach the Void King. There will be a short tutorial scene here, which will let you get used to the combat mechanics of the game.

Once that has happened, you’ll have to fight as Jiang Yan against the Void King. It will be an easy fight, considering Jiang Yan is extremely strong. However, once you’ve defeated the boss, it will temporarily come back to life to attack one more time, and Chen Zixi will sacrifice himself to save Jiang Yan.
We then see a short cutscene where the infant child grows into the player character. However, you have no clue where the character came from or where Jiang Yan currently is.

A Storybook For Ruby
After the character creation, you’ll find your character next to Ruby, a little girl, outside of Jiang’s ravaged cottage, where you were recently attacked by a mysterious figure. Go inside the cottage to find a letter from Wei, addressed to Jaing Wulang, hidden inside a secret compartment.
There’s going to be a festival tomorrow called the First Jar Banquet, and now preparations are underway all over Heaven’s Pier in Qinghe. Talk to Ruby outside of the cottage, and she’ll ask you to come to the General’s Shrine with her to get her a new Storybook from Beard Guang.

Now, you have to make your way to the General’s Shrine. There will be some stuff to do on the way, such as an archery lesson from someone shooting birds on a cliff, as well as gathering certain items that you’ll encounter on your way through the bamboo grove.
You’ll also find a wayfarer along the way sitting beside a campfire. These wayfarers will grant you a map of the area wherever you encounter them. The very first wayfarer also asks you for an additional favor and tells you about a bear nearby if you pay him. You can learn a tai chi skill here, and you have to knock the bear on a pile of rocks nearby to kill it. Once you’ve done so, you can shoot the honeycomb with a flaming arrow to obtain an Oditty.

The General’s Shrine
As you arrive at the General’s Shrine, you’ll find Beard Guang’s caravan just outside here. There’s a tournament happening here, and the organizer, an individual named Old Jin, says that whoever can beat his strongest man wins the tournament. So, you’ll have to fight against Fang Xu and defeat him in a sparring contest.
After winning the tournament, you’ll find Ruby standing near Old Jin, where he’s holding a small auction and trying to rip people off. You will have to talk to him, and in the end, he’ll give you something for winning the tournament, unlocking the Talents. You’ll also get something for Ruby and will have to open the gift with her.

Among the gifts, there’s a storybook for Ruby that she really likes. The storybook speaks about an individual called Yi Dao, who’s also referred to as Killerblade. While counting out the necessary things a hero needs, Ruby’s eyes spot a horse in the caravan. This horse is quite buff with all the muscles and stuff, and there’s also a horse dancer nearby beating on a drum. You’ll find Ruby right next to this horse dancer.
You’ll find Beard Guang here. He’ll say he’s willing to take care of Ruby, so you can either return to Heaven’s Pier to Aunt Han or you can stick around and explore some more. You’ll have to return to Ruby to let her know that you’ll be heading back first. You’ll also have to talk to Beard Guang to ask him more about Uncle Jiang. Beard Guang will give you Uncle Jiang’s book to look after.

Returning Home
After talking to Beard Guang, you’ll have to make your way home. Heaven’s Pier is a little far, but there are a lot of chests and points of interest in the way. As soon as you return, you’ll have to find Uncle Zhou. Uncle Zhou will tell you that Aunt Han is looking for you, so you should make your way to Blissful Retreat, the tavern owned by Aunt Han.
Aunt Han asks you to serve drinks to the customers. You have to approach the tables and serve the drinks. You can also find out a little about what’s going on around here if you decide to listen to the patron’s stories. One of the customers will be talking about Killerblade and how he killed the twelve calamities. After you’ve served the drinks, Ding Si will tell you there’s a guest in the side room and ask you to see them for a bit.
Head to the side room and you’ll find a lady sitting here, drinking the finest wine. As the lady called Qanye tries to flirt a little, Aunt Han arrives and takes over from you. She asks you to go to the kiln and have a look at why the dishes haven’t arrived yet.

The Massacre At The Kiln
You’ll have to go to the Porcelain Kiln, which is a little far away from the Blissful Retreat. You’ll come across Song Jiu near the entrance of the Kiln. He’s worried that so many of his porcelain pieces are broken. He hands you over a small bag of drunken beans to give to Ruby, and asks you to investigate the warehouse.
As you make your way to the underground warehouse, you’ll find signs of battle along the way. Shortly ahead are several workers’ dead bodies. There’s one individual called Bony who’s still alive, so you’ll have to take him to safety. However, shortly ahead, you’ll be attacked by a mysteriously strong opponent.

You cannot beat this man here. This is a scripted defeat, and once you lose, the man will reveal himself to be Yi Dao, the Killerblade. Fascinated by your moves, Yi Dao will spare your life and ask you to take him to Blissful Retreat. He’ll kill Bony to make sure you don’t waste any time getting some help to the dying man.
Killerblade takes you hostage and makes you sit on the back of the horse with him, asking you to guide him to Blissful Retreat so he can find Aunt Han. At a foggy spot, Yi Dao will get off the horse, and that’s your chance to escape. There’s a secret passage nearby, and you can take that to escape to Blissful Retreat ahead of Killerblade.

Search For Aunt Han
The secret passage will lead you underground. There are a few enemies here, but the location is quite straightforward and will lead you out to the surface shortly after. After resurfacing, immediately make your way to Blissful Retreat.
As you arrive, you won’t find Aunt Han at the location. However, you’ll find Doudou here. Doudou says Aunt Han usually vanishes into thin air, and you can’t find her anywhere, and that’s the same for his master physician. He then hints that there might be some place that you might not know about. You should go to the clinic to find out about this secret place, and that’s where Aunt Han might have gone.

Go to the clinic. You’ll find Yaoyao standing outside. She’s a medic, and she’ll help you increase your healing charges. However, you’ll have to ask her to open the gate to the first floor. As you go there, you can search around for clues, and you’ll find a well nearby that might be leading underground.
Shoot a flaming arrow at the vines covering the well, and you’ll burn them, opening up the path to the well.

Still Shore Quest
As soon as you go down the well, it will trigger the Still Shore quest. You’ll find plenty of faceless people here; these people are held captive, unable to escape or die. All of them appear to know you for some reason.
Light the lanterns with flaming arrows to light up the way. Keep progressing until you arrive in the room where you’ll find a singing man. This man is the leader of all the faceless people here. There’s a music sheet and a flute nearby in this room. Pick up the sheet and then the flute. If you play the flute, several faceless people in the room will follow you.

Your job here is to get the faceless people to sit on the stone platform, which will then unlock the gate head. Sit on the platform while facing the door and play the flute until the faceless people come near you and sit on the platform alongside you. After that, unlock the gate and move ahead.
This will lead you to a room where you’ll find an ancient martial arts scroll, detailing skills from different sects. Open up the scroll and learn up to three skills by interacting with the scroll. Once you do so, your character will feel tired and fall asleep.

The Heartseeker
Throughout the Still Shore quest, you might’ve come across information about Aunt Han, revealing that she might be a martial artist. In this dream, you’ll come across a boss who resembles Aunt Han. Now, you’ll have to fight against this boss called Heartseeker, using the techniques you’ve learned from the scroll.

You can pick any technique before the start of the battle, but be wary, as you won’t be able to switch weapons here, so you should pick an ability that fits your weapon of choice.

After defeating the boss, you’ll wake up back in the room. The leader of the faceless is sitting near you, watching over you as you sleep. He’ll offer to change your customization options, and you can come to him again to change your looks. Progress ahead, and you’ll find a note addressed to Aunt Han from an individual named Chu.
As you progress ahead, you’ll find Doudou inside a room crying. He followed you to this underground space and is terrified of the faceless people. You will then have to find a way to exit the underground area.

Searching Aunt Han’s Room
By now, you should be at least level 15. In order to progress, you need to reach level 17. You’ll have to take on the trial quest to increase your level cap. You can do so by opening the menu and selecting the increase level cap option. This will teleport you to the trial quest area. After you’re finished with the trial quest, engage in exploration till you reach level 17.
After hitting level 17, go to Aunt Han’s room, where you’ll find more clues about her past. While you’re investigating, you’ll find that Yi Dao has been following you, but the two of you are ambushed by soldiers wearing black. Grab a wooden board to defend yourself against the arrows. Yi Dao helps you escape the immediate ambush and fight back against the soldiers.
These soldiers are strong, and it’s best to let Yi Dao fight against them while you just try to stay out of trouble. After defeating the soldiers, you’ll have to follow one of them back to their hideout.

The Captive Hideout
Sneak behind the soldier, and he’ll lead you to their hideout. After arriving at the hideout, you’ll have to find a secret path, which is a door towards the end of the building. As you enter this new area, you’ll be separated from Yi Dao by an iron gate. In order to unlock the gate and open a path for Yi Dao, you’ll have to place a heavy object on the stone pedestal near the iron gate.

There are two paths leading upwards, but there are flamethrowers on the walls to slow you down. Watch your step as you go up, and you’ll find a stone statue on the second floor of this area. Picking up the stone statue will disable the flamethrowers, so you can safely carry it back to the iron gate and place it on the pedestal to unlock the iron gate.
Yi Dao will then go with you, and you’ll have to interact with the gate with the dragon crest on the second floor. As usual, Yi Dao will take care of the fighting. There are many enemies and chests in this area, so feel free to explore around. After you’re done, follow Yi Dao and the quest markers to escape this area.

The Betrayal And The Horse Dancer
As you escape to the surface, you’ll find the base of those soldiers wearing black. They’ve got a lot of people held captive here. Yi Dao plans to create a way to distract the soldiers and kill them all efficiently, but your character will decide to betray Killerblade to ensure the safety of Aunt Han, thinking that Killerblade might be after her life.
You’ll throw the bag of Drunken Beans that you obtained at the Kiln towards Yi Dao, who’s hiding near the doors. It will cause the soldiers to find him, and they’ll all start chasing him. This will give you to opportunity to get in and free the captives.

You’ll find Ruby and Beard Guang held hostage inside one of the buildings. Free them, and they’ll tell you there’s another hostage in the next building, and they overheard the guards that it’s something important. Your character will assume that it’s Aunt Han.
The door to the building is locked, so you’ll have to go to the top and drop inside from the broken ceiling. You’ll find the horse dancer here. Scared that you’re after his life, he’ll break the door and call his very buff horse to him.

Dalang And The Horse Dancer
Now, you’ll have to fight against the horse called Dalang and the horse dancer at the same time. Fortunately, you can make the horse dancer’s projectile attacks hit the horse instead, and that will cause immense damage to the horse. You have to mind your positioning here a lot because the horse dancer doesn’t throw melee attacks.
Don’t focus on the horse dancer, Dalang won’t let you, and even if you do focus on him, he’s simply too tough for you to bother with it. Furthermore, he can restore his entire health bar once he’s near death, forcing you to kill the horse first.

After you’ve beaten the horse, the horse dancer will give his life to the horse, making it even more powerful and triggering the second phase of the boss battle. The attacks are mostly the same, so you’ll have to hold your own against the horse and defeat it.
Once you’ve beaten the horse, it will come back to life once again, but this time, Aunt Han will show up and throw a blade at the horse’s throat, killing it for good. Then, Aunt Han will go and rescue Yi Dao, who’s in pretty bad shape after fighting against all those soldiers.

You’ll then travel back to Aunt Han’s chambers, where she gives you a punishment for sneaking around, and that will complete the portion of Chapter One: Heaven Has No Pier.
