Where Winds Meet – Chapter Two: Universal Furnace Walkthrough Part 2

Where Winds Meet

Where Winds Meet‘s Chapter Two takes you to Kaifeng, where the common people are suffering due to economic issues. The nobility has introduced a Treasure Basin, a mythical gold-making vessel, and has announced to hand out money for three days and nights straight outside of the Revelry Hall building.

However, in less than half an hour after the vessel is revealed, it’s stolen. You’re falsely accused of stealing the Treasure Basin, and now you must find the real culprit within a week, or your life will end due to a poison that you were made to drink. For more information on Where Winds Meet, don’t forget to visit its official website here.

In Part 2 of Chapter Two, you’ll continue after your reunion with Yingying and her family in Part 1. After you had dinner with Yingying’s family and a late-night discussion with Big Zhao, you woke up the next day to find a letter from Big Zhao, stating that he’s at a nearby restaurant and you should come and meet him. If you’ve already progressed through everything in this part, you can check out Part 3 of the walkthrough for the conclusion.

Meeting With Big Zhao

After you’ve hit level 52, you’ll have to head over to the South Gate Avenue. Here, you’ll find Big Zhao. You’ll have to tell him about your deduction from the last night, about how the new surge of Tang Coins is related to the Treasure Basin coming into possession of the Nine Mortal Ways.

Now, you have to go back to where you and Big Zhao suspect some Nine Mortal Ways members are present, near the Turtle Granny’s home. When you arrive there, you’ll find Yingying and the others instead of the Nine Mortal Ways members.

Yingying suggests that if the group is looking for a source of Tang Coins, then they might be able to help. She suggests that everyone set up a stall in different parts of Kaifeng. According to her, if you mention clearly that you’re accepting Tang Coins, you can narrow down the source of Tang Coins by judging the volume of them compared to regular copper coins.

Now, you have to make a choice where you want to sell your goods. You can pick either the Jadewood Court or the Ever-Normal Granary. We picked the Ever-Normal Granary option here.

Selling Goods

Now, you have to make your way to your chosen location. You’ll find Little Fu waiting for you there. She gives you a bunch of Straw Basins to sell. Now, you have to walk with her to the stall. You’ll find a small crowd here.

After you’ve sold all your straw basins, Little Fu will tell you that she has some other business to attend to, and that you should return to the others.

Make your way to the Forsaken Quarter. You’ll find Yingying, Big Zhao, and Widow Zhou counting their coins. It will be revealed that Big Zhao managed to get the most Tang Coins on his stall inside the Forsaken Quarter. This shows that the source of the Tang Coins might be located inside the Forsaken Quarter as well.

Yingying asks Widow Zhou to collect all the Tang Coins from their sales and give them to you to pay off the debt for stealing your purse on your arrival in Kaifeng. While you’re still discussing, the officials arrive to search the place for anyone in possession of the Tang Coins.

Yingying gives you the pouch of Tang Coins and asks you to hide them in a safe place. After that, you’ll have to present yourself alongside Yingying and the rest in front of Lord Shi from the Royal Court. He asks about your presence here and that you should be working on finding the thief behind the Gold-Making Vessel.

However, you manage to convince him that you’re here for that exact business. He still searches each of you thoroughly, and when he can’t find any Tang Coins on you, he notices Widow Zhou’s nervousness and asks his men to search the concealed spot where you hid the Tang Coins earlier.

After a short while, the guards will find the Tang Coins and confiscate them from you. Lady Zhou is devastated, but Yingying and the rest try to remain composed because they don’t want to admit that the Tang Coins belong to them.

Once Lord Shi leaves, you’ll have to console Widow Zhou. However, she runs away out of anger. After you say that, someone must die to bring peace back. Big Zhao repeats your words and then leaves you and Yingying alone.

Search For The Turtle Granny

Go to the Turtle Granny’s house. You’ll hear some commotion outside about a thief who’s stealing everyone’s coins. After you and Yingying meet with Turtle Granny, she won’t feel well and accuse Yingying of not being her real daughter.

After you and Yingying step out of Granny’s house, you’ll have to talk to Yingying about her real identity. Yingying will tell you that she was once royalty, but was stripped of all of that. However, she plans to take everything back one day, but ends her story on a sarcastic remark.

After the conversation, there are even more voices in the nearby area about a thief stealing everyone’s money. You won’t find Turtle Granny anywhere, so you’ll have to look for her. Ask the locals about Turtle Granny’s whereabouts.

While you’re asking around, you’ll find a young lady being picked on by a thug. Beat up the thug and then continue the search. You’ll find a large crowd shortly ahead. Approach the crowd, and you’ll find Widow Zhou being beaten by Lord Shi’s guards.

A Dramatic Entrance

Amidst all the chaos, Turtle Granny’s personal treasure basin will drop from Widow Zhou’s clothing, hinting that she might’ve stolen it. Regardless, Turtle Granny approaches Widow Zhou and defends her from the guards. Lord Shi will then arrive and reveal to Turtle Granny that her son is dead, causing her to cry.

Now, you have to fight off against Lord Shi’s guards and beat each one of them. After you’re done, Yingying will arrive at the scene. Lord Shi then reveals to you that he’s very close to solving the case, all thanks to you, and that you shouldn’t try to lose your life by playing the hero.

He’ll reveal that he has been using you as bait. Yingying then stands up for you, offering to give up all of her money in exchange for your safety. Lord Shi then looks closely at Yingying, asking if they had met before. In the meantime, Little Fu makes her entrance with the real Treasure Basin in her hand and runs away.

Lord Shi and his guards will follow Little Fu, leaving you alone with Yingying and Turtle Granny. Now, to continue the quest, you’ll have to reach level 54.

The Ash Pit

After reaching Level 54, you’ll have to head to the Ash Pit. You’ll find Lord Shi and one of his guards having a conversation. Eavesdrop on them to find out that Little Fu has run towards the Ash Pit. Lord Shi refuses to give chase and instead asks the guards to surround the place, hoping to catch her once she comes out.

Now, you’ll have to head into the Ash Pit, which leads you into a gigantic underground network spread throughout Kaifeng. Here, you’ll find people talking about a certain “ringing”, and you’ll also be able to hear the bells ring in the distance. Keep following the quest markers as you try to find Little Fu.

In the sewers, you have to make your way to the north until you reach the ringer of bells. This old man will tell you the direction in which Little Fu went, but asks you to return before the bells stop ringing. You’ll have to crouch to be able to enter the path.

As you fall down, you’ll encounter a ton of rats here. There’s only one path leading ahead, so take it, and you’ll find a disciple of Nine Mortal Ways being troubled by a few thugs. This area is the Unbound Cavern, which is supposedly the home of Nine Mortal Ways.

Fight off the enemies here, and the disciple will hand over the keys that he swiped from the thugs. You’ll then have to approach the gigantic gate and use the key to get through it.

The Ghost Revelry Hall

As you enter the area, there will be some rats here, but you have to keep going straight until you start finding more thugs. There will be a large gate here. Fight off the enemies on the outside and then open the gates to the Ghost Revelry Hall.

You’ll find a girl dancing on the stage, but as she’s hung in mid-air, you’ll throw blades at the cloth binding her hands and freeing her.

This action will cause all the bad guys in the cavern to look at you angrily, and this will start a long, back-to-back battle.

Enemies will keep coming one after the other, and you’ll have to fight against multiple big guys, unless one of them shows up and says that if you’re able to beat him, you’ll be able to do whatever you want here.

After beating the final enemy, everyone will stand out of your way, telling you that strength is the only rule in this place. Talk to the dancer lady, and she’ll tell you about the Dark Room. You’ll then get a choice to leave quietly or put her in a safe place.

Keep roaming around on the second floor of the Ghost Revelry Hall until you hear a singing sound coming from a door. Open the door and keep moving.

The Faceless Mistress

Here, you’ll find a young woman with two red glowing blades in her hand. This is a minor-boss enemy, and you’ll have to be very careful while fighting against her because you cannot guard against her.

There’s only one way to beat her, and that is by deflecting all of her attacks. Fortunately, deflecting takes a large chunk of her stagger bar, and she can get staggered very quickly if you’re able to successfully deflect one or two combos.

Deflect until she staggers, attack and use your finishing move, and then start deflecting again. If you use this strategy, you’ll be able to defeat her easily. You’ll then find a woman crying in the corner. Talk to her, and then you’ll get a similar choice to leave quietly or to put her in a safe place.

The girl talks about a human market, and as you open the doors ahead, you’ll find exactly that. There will be enemies walking around the area. Defeat them and walk to the quest marker ahead. There’s a path leading forward here. Take it, and you’ll drop down.

The Human Market

There are many rats in the area ahead. You’ll also find several cages placed against an iron door in the room with rats. The iron door has a small hole at the bottom of it. You can crouch to get past it and enter the next area.

As soon as you enter this area, you’ll find a man talking about human trafficking. There are many enemies here, and you can sneak up on some of them to get rid of them instantly. You have to make your way to the top of the stairs, where the leader of the traffickers is.

You’ll have to fight against more enemies after facing off against the leader, but after you’ve defeated everyone, the leader will tell you that the little girl has gone further ahead. Open the iron door and keep progressing. You’ll fall to a lower level.

There’s a Ghost Mistress enemy waiting for you here; it’s a similar enemy to the Faceless Mistress with the same attack patterns, but with much lower HP, and you’ll have to beat her and all the similar enemies in the same way by focusing on deflection.

As you keep progressing, you’ll find more and more Ghost Mistresses waiting for you. But you just have to make your way to the other side of the room. However, defeating all the Ghost Mistresses gives you an achievement.

Zhuxie Gule

Just right ahead of the area full of Ghost Mistresses, you’ll enter a gigantic wooden platform. Here, you’ll find Zhuxie Gule, a minor boss enemy. He has a lovely bird at his side. Now, his attack patterns are quite simple as he mostly uses a three-attack combo, but as his HP goes down, he becomes progressively more dangerous.

Furthermore, if you’ve managed to take out 30% to 40% of his HP, the boss will take a stance, and the bird will come to him, chirping in mid-air. This will heal the boss every second, so you have to quickly strike the bird down to stop the boss from regenerating health.

You can easily knock the bird out of the air by using Merridean Touch Mystic Skill. Once that’s done, keep repeating the process until you’ve defeated the boss.

After you’ve defeated him, Zhuxie Gule will strike the ground in front of you, causing you to fall from the wooden platform and into the water below.

The Underwater Escape

As you fall into the water, you’ll have to find a way to escape. There won’t be an oxygen bar here, so you can explore around a bit underwater. The path forward is quite straightforward.

You’ll find a thing gap at the end, and while you’re trying to get past it, you’ll lose consciousness due to being out of breath. After that, you’ll wake up in the Layered City Ruins, an open underground area. Keep walking ahead, and you’ll find Little Fu reading a stone tablet.

She’ll run away after seeing you, so you’ll have to follow her. If you check the stone tablet, it reads about the previous members of the Nine Mortal Ways. Then, you’ll have to jump off the cliff ahead to follow Little Fu.

The Dao Lord

As soon as you jump, a cutscene will trigger where the Dao Lord will show up. Dao Lord attacks quickly and relentlessly, often utilizing the smoke screen to get rid of the Lock-On. However, if you just sit there and wait for it to attack you amidst all the smoke, you might be able to dodge and deflect it.

One of Dao Lord’s attacks, where it swings its front body around, is one of the easier ones to deflect. Keep an eye out for this move, and you’ll be able to stagger him a lot easily if you’re able to successfully deflect it.

After you deplete Dao Lord’s HP bar, it will split into three little kids, but each of them is a master of a different type of weapon. Now, you’ll be facing off against three opponents, and you’ll have to defeat all of them.

It’s best to focus on one target at a time. After the Dao Lords have lost a chunk of HP collectively, they’ll dig underground and start chasing you around, only showing up on the surface momentarily to attack you before going underground once again.

Here, you can only run around and wait for them to come out. Once they do, switch to your bow and use the skill that slows time to attack each one of them out of the air. Do so a few times, and they’ll stop doing it.

From there on, it’s a simple 3-on-1 fight, and if you’re able to defeat the boss, it will be revealed that each of the three kids looks like Little Fu. Interesting point that when you’re first introduced to Little Fu, she uses the Dao Lord’s name for herself, claiming to be one of his workers.

Little Fu then promises to tell you everything before blasting a smoke bomb and running away with the other girls. Now, you have to chase her again.

The Ghost Market

Shortly ahead, you’ll find the ghost market. Little Fu has gone this way. You’ll be stopped at the doorstep of the market, who’ll tell you about the rules of this area. First, you’ll have to keep a mask on, and the other rule is to leave as soon as you hear the rooster crow.

Now, you’ll be able to go inside the market. You’ll find Little Fu’s clothing straight ahead from the entrance. There’s a barrel here. Interact with it, and it will cause Little Fu to pop out. You still have to find the others. Follow the quest marker nearby, and you’ll find yourself in a clothing shop.

Interact with the area behind the counter, and that will cause Little Shou to show up. Little Shou reveals the Ember of East’s Gold-Making Vessel, claiming it to be a fake one from the start. Her words hint at someone else pulling the strings behind the girls.

According to Little Shou, the entire plot was made by the mastermind, but they don’t know anything more than that. Now, you’ll have to find Little Lu, who is also nearby. Go on the clothing shop’s roof and use your wind sense to find Little Lu’s footprints. She’ll be standing under a ledge on the floor on the other side.

The Confession

As you find Little Lu, she’ll ask what you plan to do with her and the others. You can select the option that says that you want to find out the truth, or you can tell her that you want to hand her over to the authorities.

We selected the option regarding the truth, and then she revealed that it was indeed she who slipped the Tang Coins inside Kaifeng due to the shortage of money and the economic condition of the people. You’ll then have to go back to the clothing shop to meet with the rest of the girls.

After you both arrive at the clothing shop, Little Lu will tell her sisters to relax and inform them that you only want to know the truth. When you push the girls to tell you why the Ember of East and the Velvet Shade are going along with their plan, as well as how they are able to smuggle such large quantities of coins all over, she’ll get scared.

However, in the end, it will be revealed that there is indeed a mastermind behind all of this, and you won’t know their identity yet. Little Fu still makes it clear that this person has what it takes to change Kaifeng.

After that, the girls will lead you to the docks in the Ghost Market, asking you to return to Yingying and the others. The girls will then sail away on a raft made out of bamboo, and that would mark the end of another part of Chapter Two’s quest.

From this point onwards, further quests will be covered in Part 3 of the walkthrough.
