Curfew
After Little Fu, Lu, and Shou leave the Ghost Market ahead of you through a secret passage, you must head out to the surface yourself to regroup with the trio.
You’ll find the girls just outside the Forsaken Quarter entrance. However, the entire area is on high alert with all the soldiers sprawling around the area looking for you or any of your friends. After talking with the trio, you’ll have to find Yingying.

She’s standing just to the side of the entrance. As you meet with her, she’ll lead you to a nearby area where you can talk with her.
Yingying will tell you that Lord Shi and his soldiers are taking everyone to the furnace, whoever is unable to give them information about Little Lu and the Gold-Making Vessel.
You’ll then have to follow Yingying as you both sneak through all the guards in the Forsaken Quarters to reach Turtle Granny’s place. Once you reach there, you’ll find the Little Fu, Lu, and Shou, alongside Turtle Granny. However, Lady Zhou is missing.

Betrayal
Shortly after, you’ll hear Lady Zhou from the outside as she’s talking to the guards. Lady Zhou will give your location to the guards.
With the threat of the guards on your head, the main character will ask Yingying to take care of the others while you go and deal with the guards. Yingying hands over her brocade bag to you, telling you that it’s as important to her as her own life.
You’ll then have to leave the house and face off against Lord Shi and his guards. It appears that Lord Shi had manipulated Lady Zhou into giving out your location in exchange for her child’s life, which he has already taken away. You’ll then have to fight against the guards.

The Real Ember Of East
After you’ve taken the guards down, Lord Shi will start to attack you himself. As he lunges at you with his sword drawn, Yingying will appear out of nowhere, blocking his sword with her fingers.
The impact shakes off Yingying’s hat, revealing the golden hair within. She then uses the Life Coin on Lord Shi, but he manages to deflect it. This makes it clear that the Ember of East was with us from the start, disguised as Yingying.
Lord Shi points out that Yingying had been kicked out of Weiyang, and she is useless now. Yingying will ask you to leave her and go take Turtle Granny to a safe place.

Not A Little Bird, But An Eagle
After Yingying refuses to budge, you’ll have to leave her behind and go help Turtle Granny. You’ll find her in her home with Little Fu and her sisters, taking care of her. Little Fu thinks Lord Shi might’ve taken Yingying to the Furnace as well.
The trio is quite persistent about going to the Furnace with you, but you’ll be able to hold them off by giving Yingying’s brocade bag.

There’s a piece of paper inside the bag, where Yingying is asking everyone in the Forsaken Quarter to sing the Song of Mercy. According to the note, she has the Gold-Making vessel, and tonight, wealth will be distributed.
Turtle Granny wakes up, saying that she has remembered now. She says that she remembers that Yingying wasn’t her little bird, but an eagle she found.

The Song Of Mercy
As you decide that you’re going to the Furnace, Little Lu will tell you that you can easily get inside using the Tang Coin cart.
Now, you’ll have to rally commoners in the area with the Little Fu and her sisters to sing the Song of Mercy as per Yingying’s instructions.

However, the people aren’t happy. You see the trio trying their best, but no one wants to listen to them, and no one cares at all.
However, you’ll then see Turtle Granny, wearing a costume that makes her look like a turtle. She’s playing with the kids as she sings the Song of Mercy, successfully rallying others to do the same.

The Tang Coin Cart
After the Song of Mercy cutscene, you’ll be able to eavesdrop on nearby NPCs arguing about something related to the “Master.” You’ll then have to make way to the convoy in the Forsaken Quarters.
This convoy is taking Tang Coin carts to the Furnace. As you arrive at the convoy, you’ll find it heavily guarded.
You’ll have to sneak to the cart here. Look on the roof of the house to your left; there will be a spot where you can use the jump feature. Keep jumping on the marked spots until you stand at a wooden pole.

Here, you’ll have to wait for the correct opportunity to strike. Look to your left, you’ll be able to jump to another wooden pole. Jump to the shed on the left and keep walking till the edge. Drop down and sneak to the marked location.
Approach the cart, and then your character will sneak under the cart, which then leaves for the Furnace.

Sneaking Around The Camp Near The Furnace
After arriving inside, you’ll have to sneak around to find an exit out of this section. You should do your best not to get detected here; otherwise, the game will just throw you back to your last safe position.
There will be a few guards that you can use the death touch on by sneaking up to them.

Sometimes, you’ll spot soldiers talking to each other in the way. You’ll have to wait till they stop talking and get out of the way for you to pass undetected. There will be a watchtower nearby. Follow the quest markets to get on top of it.
From here, you’ll spot Yangbao, Yingying’s cat, roaming around near the guards at a distance. This makes you consider the fact that Yingying might be around this area.

Escaping From The Camp
There’s a building you’ll have to get into from the roof. Get into the attic and eavesdrop on the guards below. The guards will be talking about a woman being put into a certain dungeon.
You’ll have to drop down and fight them to get the dungeon’s map. Exit through the window after acquiring the map.

As you exit, you’ll get detected, and then you’ll have to run. Keep running away and jump on the marked locations to get away as quickly as possible. Get to the wall and jump on the marked roof to reach the next marked location.
Once you’re there, you’ll enter a mode where you have to visually find the dungeon from a high location. Once you do so, you’ll have to start sneaking to get to the building where the dungeon is.

The Search For Yingying
Before you reach the marked building, you’ll arrive in a courtyard full of guards. Here, you have to take the path to the extreme left. There will be some guards here, but they’re too busy talking to notice you.
There will be a window here that you can use to get inside the building. Go downstairs, and you’ll be able to hear the guards talking to each other.

One of the guards has the key on them. Assassinate the two guards and interact with the gate, then go out and look for the guard with the key.
Go outside. There’s another building to the one you’ve just come out of. Get in there, and you’ll see the deputy captain talking to one of Lord Shi’s men. You’ll have to go upstairs, all while sneaking, and use Celestial Seize on the guard to get his key.

Once you’ve got the key, head back to the dungeon gate and open it. There’s a lift that you can take to go to the lower levels. You’ll find several prisoners inside their cells, and it appears all of them have lost their minds.
You’ll then hear a noise coming out of an empty cell. Go in to investigate, and the gates will get locked. It’s the Little Fu, Lu, and Shou sisters.

The Hidden Dungeon
After being joined by the trio of sisters, keep exploring the dungeon until you arrive in the treasure room. This treasure room has a painting of the Lord Shi as the God of Avarice.
In front of the painting, you’ll find a burned paper. After interacting with the paper, you’ll notice the flames of one of the candles going out.

This suggests that there might be a secret pathway here. Work with the trio to uncover the mechanism of the secret doorway.
After a while, you’ll be able to get through, but the trio of sisters will be unable to follow you right away. You’ll have to press on by yourself.

Escaping The Dungeon
As you walk in, you’ll find Yingying tied to the money tree, a tower made out of melted coins. You’ll pass out and will be later woken up by the trio of sisters.
You’ll then take a second look and find that only Yingying’s clothes are tied to the money tree, and she has likely already escaped.

Now, you’ll have to find a way to escape yourself, but you’ll get ambushed by the guards. Work with Little Fu and her sisters to defeat the guards and find an exit.
As you finally get to the surface and exit the building, you’ll encounter Jin Huo alongside her guards. Little Fu and her sisters ask you to handle the big enemy, while she’ll take care of the small fries.
You’ll then have to battle against Jin Huo. She’s fairly easy to deal with, and the only attack you have to watch out for is her stomp, which can be deflected very easily.

Infiltrating The Furnace
Little Fu then escapes to create a diversion for you, asking you to follow in her steps. Keep jumping on the marked spots just behind the trio of sisters. They’ll set fire to a boat and safely escape, leaving you on your own to find a way into the Furnace.
You’ll then find yourself in front of the Furnace gate. Get inside. It’s a gigantic place, but luckily, there’s Yangbao here to guide you.

Keep following the quest markers and the cat to progress. There’s no need to sneak around here, as most of the workers are brainwashed. There’s a thin iron chain that you’ll have to walk over.
Once you’re on the other side, drop to the bottom floor and jump on one of the mechanisms that are going up. These will act as an elevator.

After you finally meet up with the cat, it will lead you to some guards. Assassinate them. Here, you have to get to the elevator room. There are some guards blocking and patrolling the way, but you can manage to get to the gate if you’re quick.
However, just as you open the gate, you’ll notice it’s taking some time, and you’ll finally get detected. This triggers a very intense escape scenario.

To The Top Of The Furnace
The elevator goes up, but you’ve been discovered. The entire furnace starts to attack you. Follow the quest marker amidst all the chaos and be ready to jump at any time on the jump markings.
There are also a few quick-time events during this scenario, and you’ll have to be ready for those, but overall, your job here is to run in whichever direction is available.

After the long escape scenario, you’ll find yourself around the top of the Furnace in the open. Run up to the very top. Here’s a lever that will allow you to go into a secret chamber inside the Furnace.
You’ll then arrive in a room where gold coins are spread like the sea. There are many chests in this area, but they don’t offer you anything other than gold. Walk to the exit of the room and pull the lever to make the elevator go down.

Facing Off Against Lord Shi
After walking up the stairs and opening the large gate, you’ll find Lord Shi inside. He’s turning living people into gold using the Gold-Making Vessel. Once he’s done, he’ll be ready for battle while wearing a golden mask
You’ll then have to fight against Lord Shi, who has assumed the title of the God of Avarice. Aside from his melee combos, he’ll summon a golden ball that periodically shoots out projectiles.

You cannot deflect it, and you must dodge to avoid it. You can also start sprinting to the sides to avoid the projectiles, but this opens you up to Lord Shi’s melee attacks.
After you’ve taken out half of his HP, Lord Shi will jump in the centre of the arena, levitating as he shoots three projectiles in your direction. If you’re hit by it, you won’t only take damage, but your money will be drained as well.

You can avoid this attack by sprinting to the side before the attack even begins. Once the first three attacks are done, Lord Shi will throw one final attack before coming down to the ground.
This one is tricky, because you won’t be able to avoid it by simply sprinting away and will have to time the dodge to avoid it.

Lord Shi Phase Two
Once you take out the entire health bar, Lord Shi will switch to a dual-wield stance. Here, he can combine his two swords into a single glaive with two edges.
As the battle begins, you have to immediately run to Lord Shi and then run to your side to avoid his first attack, which cannot be deflected.

Lord Shi will use several Golden-Flashing attacks that cannot be deflected during this phase, so you have to be quick on your dodges here. However, most of the melee stuff can still be deflected.
He unleashes two attacks, where he goes to the center of the arena and unleashes an arena-wide blast. After the second such attack, he’ll replace his entire health bar with gold. You’ll have to deplete this gold health bar by deflecting and dealing damage.

The Final Phase
After defeating Lord Shi in his second phase, you’ll teleport to another realm, where you’ll have to fight off against Lord Shi, but he has turned huge.
You have to aim your bow to the eye on his staff to deal damage to him. Once you’ve landed a few attacks, the boss will be defeated, but it will initiate a long cutscene.

The Voice Of The Commoners
After landing the final hit, you’ll hear Yingying’s voice coming from the brocade bag that she gave you, reminding you that you’re not alone. You’ll then see the real Yingying being detained by the Prefect of Kaifeng.
The reason for doing so is still related to the confiscation of the Tang Coins. The Prefect of Kaifeng believes that it is a necessary step, even if it’s harmful for the commoners, while Ember of East has other plans.

As the conversation between Ember of East and the Prefect of Kaifeng continues, you’ll see the battle still happening between the God of Avarice and the young wanderer, who’s on the verge of being struck down.
However, the song of the commoners will give them strength, allowing them to unleash one final strike to destroy Lord Shi.

This destroys the top of the Furnace, with you emerging victorious out of it under the moon. As you jump out of the Furnace, you’ll land on the balcony with your sword pointed towards the Prefect of Kaifeng.
We then see a mysterious figure appearing from the dark behind the Prefect and Ember of East, but their face isn’t fully revealed.

Prosperity
The story shifts after that interaction. Fifteen days have passed since the Furnace was brought down. You’ll see Big Zhao sitting at a restaurant, telling stories about what has been happening since then.
Big Zhao reveals that Ember of East has introduced the concept of paper money. He says that anyone who has copper or tang coins can have the government exchange them all for paper money.

This new beginning has made things a lot easier for the commoners, but the government will have a few tough years ahead of it.
You’ll then see Yingying bringing Turtle Granny to a money exchange spot where she has her treasure basin exchanged for paper money.

Conclusion
After everything is said and done, you still have some answers that you need from Ember of East. Go to Turtle Granny’s house and talk to Yingying there.
You can reveal to Yingying that you have found documents that show that Lord Shi had ties with the Aureate Pavilion, the same group that attacked the Blissful Retreat.

Yingying says that Lord Shi was also kicked out of Weiyang just like her, but back then, he used to be entirely different and may have changed after coming in contact with this group.
You’ll also have to ask her about the whereabouts of Aunt Han, the Water Lady. Yingying reveals that she hasn’t come in contact with her. She says that she can find out about her, but it may take her years. Fortunately, Yingying gives you one lead.

She asks you to seek out the leader of Velvet Shade. According to Yingying, the Jar of Parting Tears that you had could easily grant you the leader’s friendship, and that will allow you to track down the Water Lady.
Yingying then plans to leave for Weiyang for some time, bringing Chapter Two: Universal Furnace to an end.
