Welcome to the Into Indie Games walkthrough for Whisper of the House.

In this part of the walkthrough, we cover Cheryl’s Bakery, help uncorrupt a giraffe sculpture, and then clean up an Alchemy Workshop, where we again find a secret that leads to an interdimensional rescue.


Cheryl’s Bakery

We start this part of our walkthrough of Whisper of the House by heading to the shop Cheryl rented to turn it into a bakery.

There’s a lot of scattered wrapping paper here, which you can fix by holding right-click after picking it up.

Once you’re done arranging the bakery room, we move through the door into the bedroom.

As we dig into Cheryl’s stuff, we find a green crystal ball that appears to be cursed. Right-click on it repeatedly to break the curse. Right-click on it again after the curse is broken to make it snow.

There’s also a purple decorative skull – interact with it to find out that it is cursed as well. Keep right-clicking on it to remove the curse.

When you’re done with the bedroom, move on to the bathroom.

There’s a mirror here… a cursed mirror, that you can interact with (but can’t un-curse, apparently).

After you’re done with the bathroom, settle the task to get your rewards.

A Corrupted Giraffe and New Mail from Jane

Just across the bakery to the southwest, you’ll find a giraffe sculpture that appears to be cursed. Resolving the giraffe’s curse/corruption will also reduce the number on the pyramidal museum to the west.

Once you’re done uncorrupting the giraffe, interact with the giraffe again to get a call from Cheryl, who asks you to meet at the alchemy workshop to the west.

Now check your mail to find a letter from a Jane, who is setting up a very punk instrument store and throwing an underground show on opening day.

We’ll continue with Cheryl’s task for now – head to the workshop, but before entering it, go north to find a cursed alley. As usual, keep right-clicking on it until it’s open.

The Alchemy Workshop – Living Room & Kitchen

Enter the workshop to learn that it belonged to an alchemist named Ian, who disappeared after some grand occult ambitions.

Your task is to clean up the workshop. While you’re here though, feel free to read the notes lying around to learn more about Cheryl and Ian.

Clean up the potions spilt on the floor near the kitchen and make your way up the stairs. There’s also a cursed double portrait to the left of the window, if you’d like to un-curse it.

Make sure to clean up the red spills in the living room – those are hard to spot.

Before moving on to the workshop proper, arrange the books on the bookshelf that’s up the stairs.

Apart from the books standing in front of the bookshelf, there’s also books all across the living room – put them back on the bookshelf. Make sure to look to the left of the armchair – the books there are hard to spot.

The Alchemy Workshop – Workshop Proper

Head into the Workshop when you’re done with the living room. As usual, clean up the spills and glass here.

Your special task here is to sort fitting ornaments into the left wall cabinet. Much like the bookshelf task, you simply need to pick up the stuff lying around the workshop and put it in the cabinet.

Be sure to keep an eye on the progress bar to the right to make sure if the item you’re putting on the cabinet actually belongs to the cabinet or not. If the progress bar doesn’t progress, then that item doesn’t belong on the cabinet.

There’s an old research notebook here in the workshop, lying near the mirror, which you can pick up to read (a bit of). There are loose pages of this notebook lying around – pick them up and put them in the notebook to reveal the complete picture.

Once you’re done cleaning up the Workshop, head to the Herbs Lab by going through the doorway to the east (or by clicking on the quick map in the lower-right of the screen).

The Alchemy Workshop – Herbs Lab

Our goal here is to store the labeled potions in the right wall cabinet, and the glass jar plants in the wall cabinet by the window.

Of course, we also need to clean up the remaining spills.

Putting the glass jar plants is straightforward enough, but be sure to clean the right wall cabinet of non-labelled potions to make space.

Once you’re done with all three tasks in the Herbs Lab, you can settle the task, but we’re going to do something interesting before that.

Crafting Mirror Dew and Finding the Subspace

If you check the complete notebook in the Workshop, you’ll find out how to create Mirror Dew by following the third recipe.

In short, we put the Mercury Thistle, Moonflower, and Silverleaf Elixir into the cauldron to get Mirror Dew, which we can use to unveil the obscured mirror in the workshop.

Take the notebook with you to the Herbs Lab for more convenience. We’ve collected the three requisite items to the left of the Herbs Lab, if you’d like to save time.

Put each of the three items in the cauldron to be presented with Mirror Dew. Use the Mirror Dew on the mirror.

This opens up a portal to a Subspace, where you’ll find a glowing multi-dimensional cube that you can uncurse.

Other Craftables in the Alchemy Workshop

You can also complete the other two recipes in the notebook by looking for the appropriate ingredients. Note that the Thermal Mix is a red bottle in the Workshop.

If you create the Magic Firework, un-curse it by repeatedly right-clicking on it.

To create the star-shaped potion bottle, use the Canned Flowers (Herbs Lab) and the Feather (on the windowsill in the Workshop) in the cauldron. Then, use the potion bottle on the broom to give it a new pose. Un-curse the broom while you’re at it.

Return to the Herbs Lab to clear up any remaining plants or potions, and then settle the task.

Bringing Ian Back

Once you’re done, re-enter the building and enter Subspace. Then, enter Photo Mode, click on the Stickers button to the right, and pull out the Ian sticker. Place this ‘sticker’ in the middle of the magic circle or sigil. This will bring back Ian to our dimension.
