Welcome to the fifth part of our walkthrough for Will: Follow the Light.

Our journey continues as Will heads toward the Lighthouse that Jack mentioned on a Dog Sled through the freezing mountainscape.

Heading Toward the Lighthouse

The chapter begins with Will sitting by a campfire. The Dog Sled you fixed up in the previous chapter is nearby. Before you set off, grab all the trash around the campfire.

Interact with the Dog Sled to set off in search of the Lighthouse that Jack mentioned.

As you progress, you’ll see an avalanche off in the distance. Continue rushing along through the snow.

The avalanche will soon hit, making it harder to see the path ahead of you. Keep moving forward while avoiding the rocks.

Eventually, you’ll enter an icy cave. Get off the Dog Sled. Walk forward along the tunnel. Both paths lead to the same place. We took the left path.

As you walk forward, you’ll see lights flickering on the cave wall and hear some voices.

At the end of the cave, there’s a drawing. Use the Blue Light from your Lantern to activate the drawing.

Once the event ends, climb up on the ledges and walk toward the exit.

When you step outside, Will slips off the ledge and loses consciousness.

Fixing the Cable Car

You’ll wake up near a cabin.

Walk around the cabin to spot a table with some tools and a diagram on top of it. Check the diagram.

This seems to be an upgrade for the Lantern, allowing you to melt ice, but there’s a piece that’s missing.

Look around to spot a set of Weather Instruments, similar to the ones you saw near your Lighthouse in Chapter 1. There’s also a path to the left that leads to a Cable car.

Go toward the weather instruments and check the Humidity Device on the right. You’ll find a Lens inside it. Pick it up.

Check the Cable Car area next. As you approach it, you’ll see the shadow of a boy running off. There’s a lamp recharge station near it that you can use.

Hop inside the Cable Car. But you can’t use it since you don’t have anything to move you along the rope.

Return to the cabin and interact with the tools on the table. Place the Lens on the Lantern first. Then add the brackets and the screws to bolt them in.

With the Lantern ready, walk up to the frozen door of the cabin. Use the Lantern to melt away the ice. Head in once that’s done.

Pick up the Cart Handle from the table and check the drawing. There’s also a note on the floor that you can inspect.

Go back to the Cable Car and get inside. Interact with the handle and use the directional stick to rotate the gear and start crossing the ravine.

Around halfway along the ravine, you’ll see a structure on the right. Stop when you get close to it and exit the Cable Car.

Go down the ladder and pick up the Small Gear that you find.

Return to the Cable Car and ride it to the end to reach a house.

Fixing the Line For the Cable Car

After getting off the Cable Car, check the area past it. The line goes on toward the Lighthouse, but it’s not tight enough for you to ride the Cable Car.

Walk toward the Winch and melt the ice using your Lantern.

Interact with the Winch to open the device. You’ve picked up one Small Gear for it. But to get it to work, you need two more.

Head toward the house. There’s another lamp recharging device near it. Go inside the house through the front door.

After entering the house, pick up the Key hanging on the beam. There’s also a sketch on the table under the Key.

Head toward the broken window and inspect the calendar on the table.

Flip through the pages to see that each month has a date highlighted in red. These are the days that Will promised to visit Thomas. Note the dates associated with the months.

Walk up to the white door inside the house. It’s locked.

Interacting with the lock shows you a weird mechanism. You can rotate the central dial to point at different dates and also change the panel at the top to change the month.

To solve the puzzle, you need to select four dates that will open the central lock and unlock the door.

The first two dates are found on the calendar: March 7 and May 16.

Walk out of the cabin and loop around the outside wall. You’ll find a drawing of a whale on the back wall, along with the date 21 September.

On the side, you’ll find another torn page from the calendar. The date marked here is December 27.

Return to the lock inside the cabin and enter the two dates: September 21 and December 27. The door will open, and you can head inside.

There’s a note on the table along with another Small Gear. Pick up the Gear and inspect the note.

Walk out of the cabin. As you exit through the door, you’ll see the shadow of a boy running toward the edge.

Run to where the shadow disappeared to find a fishing rod. Interact with the rod. Pick up a third Small Gear when the line comes up.

Return to the Winch and install all the Gears. Position the gears as shown in the image above so that all the cogs will spin properly.

This will fix the Cable, and you can set off toward the Lighthouse.

Reaching the Lighthouse

Get back to the Cable Car and continue forward toward the Lighthouse.

Once you reach the Lighthouse, you’ll notice that the door is frozen. Melt away the ice. Recharge your Lantern using the nearby device if needed.

Go up the steps to the Lighthouse Beacon. Interact with the Beacon to light it up.

Take the Azimuth by lining up the red line with the north arrow on your compass.

The screen goes white, and when you wake up, you’ll find Bert standing in front of you. He’ll hand you a Flare after the conversation.

Head toward the Lighthouse and walk past it to find your boat moored up ahead. Get on the boat and go inside the Cabin.

Interact with the map and plot the route.

Start the engine and sail off. Once you get far enough away, you’ll get the option to skip sailing and finish the chapter.
